Yeah it was excellent

Crazy rush shortly after it opened. We got lucky without reservations. One of the better meals in Paris for sure !

After our second visit...

[edit 9 Feb 2020, returned here, got a table during the rush hour in lunch time, ordered the third salad from the list and it was tasty. Will adjust my rating from 3 to 4 stars, so a🌟. And what made us feel good was that they remembered us, being away nearly a year and being in only once before that was a nice touch, something every customer likes to hear 👍].

Vegan, all vegan. Several gluten free as well. I ordered the balls and they were really dry. The sauce was good, but the rice was cold and also dry.
Service was fast and friendly.

Pros: Nutritional yeast on the table

Cons: Small

Superbe adresse !

Pros: Plats savoureux, Service impeccable, Desserts succulents

Cons: Prix élevés, Réservations obligatoires

Pretty random

Small restaurant, booking is mandatory. Two services, one between 7pm and 9pm and another one at 9pm.
The meals are ok, but not unforgettable.
The crème brûlée was good

Pros: Lots of different meals (and typical French ones)

Cons: Not that good, The double service system (7-9pm)

Unique to find vegan french food

This place has been open as a vegan restaurant for 12 years. It’s small and rustic and has the feel of an independent eatery. The staff are very friendly. The service is fast. The food was very good. I’ve not had french vegan food before, I was impressed.

Pros: Unique food experience , Friendly staff

Veganised French classics

We tried the French onion soup, buckwheat galettes and seitan bourguignon. The onion soupwas perfect comfort food on a chilly January day.

Excellent soups, but so-so on everything else

I read all of the reviews on HappyCow before my wife and I went to Paris, and thought about going. And then the concierge at our hotel, when we asked for the name of an excellent vegetarian or vegan place, mentioned Le Potager.

First, where the other reviews have it right: The restaurant is very small, with tables as close together as you can imagine without becoming a part of your neighbor's meal.

Also: It's super crowded; we had reservations for 7 p.m. were the first ones there, and didn't think it would fill up. But wow, were we wrong — the whole time we were there (a bit more than one hour), people kept arriving, and those without reservations were largely turned away.

The soups were indeed excellent. My wife had a celery soup and I had the French onion soup. I'm not vegan, so I'm sure that real cheese would have been better -- but really, we were overall quite satisfied with those.

But the main dishes... maybe it's just that we cook a lot at home, and maybe we've just been spoiled, but they didn't seem like anything super special. We got a beef-style seitan and a tofu + lentil dish. Both were OK, but the seitan didn't really come with anything else (other than the side dish of rice + almonds), and the illusion of meat wears off pretty quickly. My tofu + lentil dish was a bit small and didn't have super strong flavors.

The service was quite good, especially given that the waiter was greeting people, answering the phone, taking orders, and serving the tables.

But at the end of the day, it tasted like the same sort of tofu + rice dishes that we make at home. Which doesn't mean that it was bad per se, but not the overwhelming and delicious experience that others seem to have had.

Pros: Good service, Great soups

Cons: Standard fare for a vegetarian/vegan restaurant, Expensive

One of my favourites in Paris

Their vegan cheese, potato and smoked tofu salad was exellent. Creme brulee was huge, but too sweet. Would have been nice if the dessert would have more berrys on top to cut the sweetness, now there was only three little ones.

Pros: Everything is vegan and atmosphere is cozy, Vegan cheese 👍

Cons: A bit expensive

favorite spot in Paris

This is my favorite vegan restaurant in Paris. Le Potager du Marais captures a real French dining experience while serving exclusively vegan food and drinks. Every time I've come here the service has been friendly and inviting and the food has been delicious. Will definitely be coming back.

great food and staff

I had a visit last year before holiday during my trip. they have many options and the food is really tasty. Staff did their best in serving the food.
The only thing I might complain is high prices but considering you are eating a healthy meal i guess it won't heart that much.

Pros: Good food, variety of choices, good staff

Cons: a little bit expensive

Amazing French Experience

A gem in Paris. Authentic French atmosphere and decadent food. Everything on the menu reads enticing. The service was impeccable, courteous, and thoughtful. I read a book and was not rushed to eat. They allowed the attempt of French, but their English was good. I could hear the Chef and the waiter's teamwork and friendliness. It was cool.

Pros: Many options, Wine is amazing, Fine Dining cafe experience

Cons: Not too much info on wine list, Can be cramped at times

French classics - all vegan!

I've tried a few things on their menu and all are very good. The onion soup is the best I've ever had. They even do a vegan creme brulee.

No better place in Paris for classic French cuisine!

My partner and I had a lovely and leisurely dinner on a Thursday evening in November. We got three courses so we could try lots of things. We started with French onion soup and a pate sampler plate. For main course we got cassoulet and seitan bourguignon. You get a choice of rice, potatoes, or quinoa with each of these dishes. Don’t choose the quinoa, it’s pretty bland. My partner’s dish with the potatoes was much better and more classically French. For desert we got creme brûlée and chocolate mousse.

Appetizers: The French Onion soup was a standout and simply not to be missed. So creamy and delicious. The pate sampler was good, but next time we’ll likely order just the mushroom pate instead of the sampler.

Mains: cassoulet was better than the seitan bourguignon, but that may have been because of the choice of quinoa with the bourguignon. Don’t choose the quinoa! :D

Desserts: the chocolate mousse was very very good, but the creme brûlée was PHENOMENAL. Don’t miss the creme brûlée!!!!

Pros: Classic French menu, all vegan!, Servers speak English and French, FRENCH ONION SOUP & CREME BRÛLÉE!!!!

Cons: Quinoa is very bland

Honestly, just unbelievable!

I arrived at Le Potager du Marais at 12:02 just after they were scheduled to open and there was a crowd of about 8 people standing outside. We all waited together until probably 12:10 when a waiter came out and welcomed us in, one party at a time! The big crowd made me really excited to try this place. The hype was absolutely warranted! I am in disbelief that the French onion soup I ordered is vegan. That soup is an absolute masterpiece, a work of art. The best French onion soup I have ever had! I also ordered the potato dish with olive tapenade and pesto. I wouldn’t order this again, but I’ll be dreaming about the soup until the next time I’m able to return to this lovely place! Every single person in the restaurant was practically licking their plate clean. This truly is gourmet vegan food. That being said, the price reflects the quality of the meal.

I also want to mention how friendly the staff were. They were so attentive and kind, I very much enjoyed my interactions and conversations with them!! I can’t recommend this place enough.

Pros: Very very friendly staff, All vegan

Cons: Expensive

Nice atmosphere and all vegan

This was a fun and cozy place to have dinner in the Marais on a cold rainy night. The waitstaff were very friendly. The entrees were a bit bland. We had the cassoulet and bourginone and neither amazed. Deserts were delish though.

Pros: Great typical french deserts, Authentic French cuisine, Welcoming staff and atmosphere

Cons: Main dishes a little bland

We wanted a full French vegan experience and we read that this was the best place. Very french and petit (it get over book, so we recommend booking in advance). We ate mushroom pate, traditional onion soup (with vegan cheese) and seitan-mushroom mignon. All delicious, our best was the soup! We couldn´t try the creme brulé because it was over! A bit expensive, but to go one night, it's fine.

Cosy restaurant with veganized French cuisine

Dropped in for lunch on a late Sunday afternoon without having to book. This is definitely a good option if you want to try veganized traditional French food. I had the blanquette (with soy protein) and chocolate cake, both of which were pretty good. The food wasn't mind-blowing but I'm giving it 4 stars as it's otherwise quite difficult to find vegan versions of traditional French food, and the service was good.

FYI the place is small and the tables are fit closely next to one another. Also, I don't think the food is prepared fresh upon your order because the two dishes I ordered came *immediately*.

Pros: Long menu with veganized traditional French food, Very fast , Prompt service
