Great Vegan restaurant in Paris - Edit
I was trying to finally finish all my Paris reviews, so decided to leave Le Potager Du Marais for last.. which is normally said as leaving "the best for last". This is definitely my fav restaurant in Paris.
Read moreI particularly like the fact that 10 years ago or so, they were probably the only "fancier" Vegan restaurant in town, which really makes them a Paris staple.
The food is good, well though, well executed but I haven't been there in a while now, so I must go back and see how it is now.
Definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Paris.

Simple et efficace - Edit
Plats simples. Bon. Toujours un plaisir quand on sait que tout est vegan et qu’on a du choix. On devait manger rapidement pour prendre un train et ça n’a pas été problématique.

Great for trying French style cuisine - Edit
True to French style, all the dishes we tried we really rich and quite heavy so make sure you are really hungry when you visit ! It was very busy so definitely recommend booking in advance and give yourself plenty of time to dine here.

Cons: Not air conditioned (only an issue in summer!)

Best Vegan Dining in Paris - Edit
This was the best “fine” dining vegan restaurant we found in Paris. We loved the artichoke cream dip as the appetizer, but I’m sure the others are just as good. Highly recommend the potato as your side- I don’t know what they do to it, but it has a really delicious texture. The chocolate cake with vanilla custard is the bomb for dessert! Kind of gooey in the middle- yum! The creme brûlée was a little too “eggy” in my opinion, but it may just have been how that batch turned out. The photo does not do the desserts justice!

Awesome food, but if you have allergies you should beware - Edit
Great atmosphere, even better food, beautiful place. Really enjoyed the food.
Read moreHowever, I must warn people with allergies about my experience here. My girlfriend has severe nut allergy. We told the waitress emphatically about this, and carefully explained how severe the allergy is, and what kinds of nuts she is allergic to. We explicitly mentioned almonds, and the waitress repeated the word almonds, and confirmed that she understood. In spite of this, my girlfriend was served a potato dish containing almonds. When being served, we asked again about the nuts, and the waitress again confirmed that it did not contain any. She came back a few minutes later, after my girlfriend had tasted the food, to tell us that a part of the potato dish did indeed contain almonds! It was a very disturbing experience which ruined the whole meal for us.
Apart form the dangerously negligent behavior of this waitress, the place was great, though.
Pros: Amazing tasting food, Nice atmosphere, Good location
Cons: Dangerously negligent waiter regarding allergies

Traditional French food - Edit
We had the crepes stuffed with leek and onion. A bit bland but otherwise ok. Very good cappuccino to finish. Too full for the cakes and desserts that looked nice! Have to go back and try another time. Slow but friendly service.

Hit and miss - Edit
I wanted to love this place but it wasn't great. The mushroom pâté was amazing, but the soups were under seasoned.
Read moreThe bourguignon was far too salty and the cassoulet had nothing in common with a cassoulet beyond the name. The blanquette was spot on and had perfect flavours, and the potatoes were phenomenal.
The apples of the tarte tatin were perfect, but the pastry needs work. The creme brulee was crumbly and inedible, and when we mentioned it to the server he claimed we didn't know vegan food or traditional creme brulee and that it was perfect despite the weird flavour and texture.

Delicous French Food - Edit
There's a large selection of veganised french dishes. The staff is helpful. I paid € 27.- for a starter and a main dish, which I think is a fair price for a filling and delicous meal in a friendly enviroment.

Some things were delcious and others disappointing. Mushroom pate is a must! So good! However, seitan in seitan stew was just fine. Nothing special. Waitress was a bit rude which was disappointing.

Average food - Edit
I was hovering between three and four stars. The food was fine but certainly nothing special. My starter was a weird boiled potato with some olive tapenade on top. My main was seitan stew, which was ok but not as nice as my homemade version. One of the two waitresses was really grumpy and clearly didn't want to be there.

Vegan French cuisine in a nice neighborhood - Edit
Le Portager du Marais is a chic Restaurant in the lively neighborhood of Marais. We had a reservation which was good because it was quite full. They offer mostly French food, which was very delicious! I had an amazing onion soup, a lentil casserole and as a dessert an apple cake. It was a bit higher in price, but it was worth because the quality was really good! I can definitely recommend it!

French cuisine in a vegan coat - Edit
The restaurant was already full when we arrived. It requires reservation if you want to have a chance to have a seat!
Read moreThe staff was very friendly and made the experience even better. The restaurant offers a full menu of well-known French dishes fully plant-based. Our choice went to the pate, “blanquette” and “cassoulet”.
The taste of the pâté was amazing, even if the texture is not comparable to the ‘original’ one.
The main dishes were nicely presented and tasted good. However, unfortunately, I had no wahouuuu factor.
Portion size was great, we had more than enough, and even weren’t able to have a small space for a dessert. But that means, we have to come back again 😉

Amazing food! - Edit
I was at this restaurant when everyone was in a hurry because a storm was happening in Paris. With lots of rain of course. (We were sitting outside) Then came one of the best meals I have ever tasted. And it was vegan! We also had a crème brûlée which was amazing. I honestly recommend eating here at least once on your trip to Paris. Or if you’re a local. It was a successful trip even though it rained very heavily on us.

A firm favourite! - Edit
We’ve been coming to Le Potager Du Marais for years, and I’m a little ashamed to say that during all of that time, our menu choices have remained static and I’ve never posted a HappyCow review. At least the latter is remedied here.
Read moreHaving French Onion Soup, safe in the knowledge that there is no animal-based stock, is such a treat. Their version arrives topped with vegan cheese and plenty of croutons. Even at the end of a hot day (our most recent visit), we couldn’t deviate from the soup, followed by the delicious Seitan Bourguignon with potatoes.
The restaurant has moved to larger premises, but the warm and friendly welcome is the same, and food just as good as always.
Looking forward to our next visit!

This is my second visit to le Potager Du Marais. The last time was years ago & it was so good I was really excited to return. It did not disappoint! I took a non vegan friend & she was really happy. We both had amazing dishes: mushroom paté, seitan bourgignon, buckwheat pancakes, crème brûlée & chocolate mousse. Wow! If you’re in Paris don’t miss the change for great vegan French food!
