Gluten and Dairy Free Dinner at the Vatican - Edit
Fabulous friendly and helpful staff. Had a lovely carbonara with gluten free pasta and vegan cheese, as well as a gluten free pizza which had a delicious, springy crust, again with vegan cheese. Lots of gluten free dessert options, unsure of vegan desserts other than sorbet. Very convenient location beside the Vatican. Very very reasonably priced with just €1 extra for gluten free.

Amazing vegan menu - Edit
Excellent restaurant near the Vatican serving authentic Italian cuisine, with many gluten-free options and a separate vegan menu with extensive offerings. The vegan capricciosa pizza was delicious - warm soft crust, gooey melty vegan cheese, and the most realistic vegan ham I've ever had! There is a large air-conditioned indoor seating area as well as seats outdoors. It was quite busy for lunch so you might want to arrive early or make a reservation!

The personal is really great you just have to ask for the vegan card. I would give them 5 stars but it’s not possible because happy cow doesn’t let me!

We really enjoyed our pizza and tort. It is so lovely to have a server know what vegan means, and suggest food for you to enjoy.

Fantastic!!! 5*! Incredible vegan options! - Edit
We finished at the Vatican museums and stumbled across this place, they obviously offer many meat and fish options but as soon as we said we wanted vegan we were given a fully vegan menu with about 25 different options, ranging from antipasti, pasta, secondi meats, and pizzas. Between 3 of us we got Caesar salad (didn’t have a classic Caesar dressing, it did have vegan Mayo and vegan parmigiana which was very tasty), tomato pasta with pecorino “cheese” (the tomato sauce was clearly homemade and extremely tasty), and the mini pizzas to start. all were amazing! For mains we had vegan lasagne (with a really nice vegan mince), the centurion pizza (with a salty and soft vegan ham, much better than the stuff we get in England), and another pizza which name escapes me but it had mushrooms and beyond sausage on- this was the winner! Despite not having tomato sauce on the pizza, all the food was divine, especially coupled with a good wine. The service was impeccable and the staff were super nice about us only eating vegan. They also had vegan cakes for dessert though we were all too full! 10/10 will definitely visit here again and recommend to anyone in the area. It may as well be a fully vegan restaurant for all I care!

Vast Vegan Options - Edit
After 8 hours between the St Peter Basilica and Vatican Museum, I was very grateful to have an abundance of vegan options nearby. La Soffrita has several menu pages of vegan options at reasonable prices (that aren’t just dumbed down versions of the originals) ranging from appetizers to noodles to pizzas to desserts.
Read moreI had a pizza, single croquette, and a spritz. The pizza was nice (though not incredible), the croquette crisp and tasty, and the spritz refreshing. There were even several tempting dessert options.
I hadn’t had much luck with vegan food in Rome, but this was one of the few places I was received to have found through Happy Cow.
Pros: More vegan options that many vegan restaurants!, Great location when visiting the Vatican

They have quite a few options and everything we tried was good. But don’t order lasagne if you’re very hungry, it’s such a small portion 😭 tastes great tho

Great vegan options and friendly service - Edit
There's a separate vegan menu - just ask the staff. The antipasti (potato crocchè, Sicilian arancini, pizzetta), the risotto with safran and mushrooms, and the cake were delicious. The recommended white wine fit very well and the espresso was great. Excellent service.

Seperate vegan menu! - Edit
Very good that they had a seperate vegan menu, and even vegan wines clearly labelled. No vegan desserts but plenty of starters and pizza made with vegan cheese. Pasta available too. I had the vegan funghi pizza and the arrancini for starters😄

Best Pizza with vegan cheese! - Edit
Ask for the vegan menu! I'm quite sceptical considering vegan cheese - but here we got served THE best Pizza with vegan cheese yet. The pizza was cheap. Friendly staff.

Wonderful and customizable - Edit
First, let me say my husband is vegan, which is why we use this app. This restaurant had been recommended to me by another person with food allergies like myself so I was excited to experience how accommodating they were. The server even brought me out the ingredients list of their gluten-free bread. He also let my husband completely customize their vegan Diablo pizza by removing the veg cheese and adding veg salami, veg panchetta, and veg smoked ham. Essentially a vegan meat lovers pizza. We were both so happy with our meals! And I really appreciate our server’s willingness to help us out.

Buono e non troppo turistico - Edit
Good pizza, not too much tourists influenced here. True Italian pizza, nice place. Outside they have put places to sit for covid restrictions. However, inside it’s really nice too! I’ve eaten here with friends and we have different diets. First I was a bit worry but I’ve found some good things to eat as vegan!

Day have a sepate vegan menu with pizza, pasta, typical Italian food. Not too expensive and it's close to Vatican Museums and Basilica di San Pietro. The pizza was nothing special, but fine and fresh.

Brilliant vegan choice - Edit
Separate vegan menu - lots of choice although the menu was only in Italian so for a non-Italian speaker it took a bit of translation.
Read moreThere were starters, pasta, burgers (beyond burger) and many pizzas. They had meat alternatives for speck, prosciutto, salami and bresaola. Also mozarella, Parmesan, pecorino and provolone.
Extensive wine list.
There were two vegan suitable desserts (lemon & ginger tart and blackberry & sambuca tart). To allow us to try both the waiter gave us a little slice of each - we were so full after sharing some starters and having a pizza each.
We had a delightful meal and would happily return to eat again.
Pros: Loads of choice , Tasty food, Dessert!

The restaurant is located near to the Vatican and is really nice. You have to ask to get the seperate vegan menu. The menu is really impressive, we had two different really good pizzas. The staff was nice but we didn't feel really welcomed because the first waiter kinda laughed at us because of the vegan menu.

Near the Vatican - Edit
As already mentioned above, you get the vegan menu only on special request. It offers a variety of dishes, typical Italian like risotto and lasagna as well as burgers, and several different pizze. Great location very close to the Vatican, but that also means that the prices are a little higher than in the average Italian restaurant. I had the risotto with mushrooms for €14,00 and will definitely come back to try other dishes

This place has a whole vegan menu with a lot of options. But you have to ask for the menu. The food is so tasty. I had a vegan suppli and a vegan pizza. Both of it was amazing! I found this spot at the end of my time in Rome but I will go back next time! The staff was really friendly and the location is convenient too.

Surprisingly fine - Edit
As we had got the menu we were shocked there are no vegan options but it turned out that you should ask a waiter for a “special vegan menu” if you want it. We ordered lasagna and pasta and both were perfectly fine! What is more the staff is nice, the place is cozy. What a pity there is no vegan section in regular menu or some vegan options banner! I strongly recommend this place to Vatican city visitors.
