Cons: Il pourrait y avoir davantage d'options veganes

Nice Restaurant - Edit
This is a small but pleasant restaurant on two levels, serving mainly tapas. There were four vegan options - sadly they had run out of the soup when we arrived at 8.30pm but it was a Saturday evening and they were very busy…. The staff are just lovely and were rushing around, running up and down the stairs - but still managing to keep a smile on their faces. We ordered 4 vegan tapas, 3 of them arrived within a reasonable time but the 4th didn’t arrive at all, after 40 minutes of waiting, even though the waitress insisted the dish would be arriving soon. Eventually another server told me it would take another 5 minutes but by that time I’d lost my appetite for it, so decided to cancel that part of the order. The staff member was sympathetic and understood my position, finally apologizing (not something I’ve noticed most French people generally like to do) and explaining that they had only opened a month ago and were still having “teething” problems. The three dishes we did have were very tasty, but very “fried”, so just be aware that it’s not for the healthy-minded vegan!

Pleasant vibes and quality vegan options - Edit
This new vegetarian restaurant offers a nice selection of vegan tapas, likely to change with the seasons. I tried the pumpkin tapas, which were delicious, and the cauliflower fritters, which packed quite a spicy kick. However, the vegetable fritters were far too oily, which was a bit disappointing. My friends opted for the soup of the day, which was vegan and reportedly satisfying. Unfortunately, there aren’t usually any vegan main course options, meaning we had to stick to tapas, which, while tasty and great for sharing, felt a bit limiting. For dessert, I tried the carrot cake, which was also very good. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely. I just hope to see more vegan options on the menu in the future!

Une adresse gourmande - Edit
La sauterelle, c'est le genre de restaurant où toute la carte fait rêver. Des tapas aux cocktails, tout était délicieux.

New vegetarian restaurant in the city center - Edit
Went at noon with a friend to test out the new vegetarian restaurant in the cicty center called "La Sauterelle". The restaurant is ideally located in the city center in a small street so there is not too much noise. The restaurant is quite small but apparently they have a room underground so maybe that was just an impression. The till is downstairs next to the kitchen so we were a bit lost at first as where we were supposed to enter, but everything went fine in the end as the staff is super nice and helped us find our seats right away.
Read moreAt noon they serve a single dish (no possibility to choose from a menu apart from desserts) but they change the dish every day and cook with in-season vegetables.
I am a vegan and went with a friend who is not: she had the "regular" version of the day's special, and I had a vegan version (only a soup was swapped, the rest was identical). Today's menu was chili sin carne, a hearty soup and a red-cabbage salad. Simple but efficient and well seasoned.
We had a good time and we will happily eat there again.
Pros: Vegetarian dishes have vegan alternatives, Vegan desserts : always a plus in my book, Nice owner and staff
Cons: A bit small maybe (book in advance)
