Great Vegan B&B in the French countryside near Fontainebleau - Edit
Our family of three (a couple with an infant) had the fortunate pleasure of being the very first guests in Bella's Cottage at La Grange DesRochers.
Read moreIt was a Wonderful experience which we cherish and highly recommend.
The property is located in the French countryside, in the small town of Paley, France (near Fontainebleau) just under a one-hour train ride from downtown Paris. It is run by Marie & David, a bilingual couple (English and French) who are expats from Canada and America. Once we arrived at the Montigny sur Loing train station, we were picked up by the host (for a small fee) and brought to the lovely estate. There is also parking on site if guests prefer to drive.
The guest house, Bella's Cottage (named after their dog), is the converted main floor of an 1800's barn. It has all the modern conveniences one can ask for with wifi, its own kitchen, full bath, bedroom and living room (no television - though not needed).
The local small town is very peaceful, great for walks, meditation and to get away from the busy city.
The hosts were very friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate our family. They offer bouldering (rock climbing) in famous nearby area of Font, bicycle tours, yoga and Pilates (each for a fee). Marie is a physiotherapist so definitely knows her stuff. We happily took the boulder and Pilates which was a highlight of the trip.
Though the star of the trip is definitely the food!
Chef David provided top tear meals, from food mostly which he had grown on or near the estate; a truly wonderful farm to table experience.
We have eaten at top Michelin Star restaurants around the world and the quality of the meals stand up!
I highly recommend seeing if you can convince them to provide lunches or dinners if you are able. Well worth any extra cost.
We will definitely look to visit again next time we are in France.
Pros: The Food!!! is awesome, Warm and friendly hosts, Close to nature, and near Fontainebleau
Cons: Remote (but this is also a Pro)

Cosy home away from home - Edit
My partner and I stayed at Bella's cottage for 4 nights. We were warmly welcomed by Marie, David and their young dog Lorenzo. They all made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. It almost felt like being part of the family! But with the added bonus to have our total independence. We appreciated the relaxing calm of the countryside and enjoyed lovely walks all around the cottage. Marie and David were very helpful and explained what activities and sightseeing could be done in the area. They even drove us to the train station so we could spend a day in Paris (only 1 hour away). We felt very cosy in our refurbished little house. All the furniture and decoration have been thoughtfully chosen to enjoy the charm of vintage items, with all the modern amenities. And last but not least, we enjoyed David's vegan cooking so much! All the dishes were delicious and prepared from fresh ingredients (some even came from their own garden). We highly recommend visiting Bella's cottage and we will surely be back for more!

Lovely place and great food - Edit
I really loved Bella’s cottage! The owners did an amazing renovation job and the cottage has been thoughtfully decorated to obtain a cosy « cottage feeling ». I especially loved the beautiful stonework in the bathroom and the lovely wooden furniture in the living room. David is a very talented cook, it’s worth the trip just for the food! The village is calm and peaceful, you could take nice walks in the forest nearby. A good opportunity to reconnect with nature and disconnect from a busy city life. #Veganuary
