Solid choice - Edit
La Cumbre is a good choice if you are in 16th and Mission/Valencia/Dolores Park area. Not the only taqueria with vegan options, but one of the only ones to label it as such on their menu and that’s nice to have

Excellent burrito and value - Edit
I got the vegan burrito with veggies and refried beans (which the cashier said were vegan). It was all very delicious, and the price was the best I’ve seen for a Bay Area burrito.

Warning: Served Dairy - Edit
I’m always happy to see an otherwise authentic Mexican place serve vegan options.
Read moreThis place was good except that the vegan burrito I was served had sour cream and cheese. I’m glad that I was paying attention while they made it because my order was to go. I said something when they handed me my food and the guy who made it swore that he had made a vegan burrito. We checked and they made me another one.
The burrito was good otherwise. The salsas, especially the green one, were very spicy so proceed accordingly.

Fine burrito, not super vegan friendly - Edit
I like that a classic Mission taqueria at least knows what vegan means, and it's a good veggie burrito, but I wish they would have some vegan protein options and vegan cheese and sour cream. It really wouldn't be that hard. So I got a vegan fajita burrito and the fajita veggies were fresh and crunchy but it just didn't quite hit without (vegan) sour cream.
Read moreTheoretically they offer falafel too.
Pros: Open late, Knows what vegan means
Cons: No vegan protein options, cheese, or sour cream

Delicious - Edit
The staff was helpful with my questions about the menu. I got a burrito and it was so good. The prices were great. It satisfied my San Diego taco shop craving. I definitely would go back if I’m in the area again.

Very happy to find this spot, perfect for the walk through the mission. I’ll be back to try the other vegan burritos and the plate as well.

Birthplace of Mission Burrito. Affordable. Marcelo Burrito default vegan burrito. - Edit
The power of equality---
Read moreRed Hot Chili Peppers harmony in my head
I recently went to Taqueria La Cumbre with Marcelo. He is my friend for the past five years and a mentor who hails from Brazil. Marcelo lives near this Taqueria. The Taqueria that invented the Mission Burrito. Wow!
Marcelo invited me for a burrito that apparently was named after him. No way. I couldn't believe it. Marcelo like me is a longtime vegan. Apparently the Marcelo burrito here comes with pinto beans, rice, and avacado with green sauce on the side. The Marcelo burrito is by default vegan which is awesome and comes with no chips which makes it more affordable. That's what he said and it is all true aka Satya.
I think it was only $8 or so which is super affordable for San Francisco. Name eats for under $10 in San Francisco. Yamo, here, and ______. Fill in the blank. Hit me up for affordable plant strong eats when you get the 411.
The only caveat is feedback and critique not to Marcelo yet to who made our burritos for Marcelo's burrito was slightly bigger than mine. I would suggest burritos being the same size yet perhaps since Marcelo has his own burrito named after him and even is on the printed receipt with Marcelo Burrito printed on it since his burrito is in the restaurant's system he should get a bigger burrito!
Burrito slightly bigger or not. It hit the spot, filling, and tasty. It was just what I needed after a trip to Miami doing an intensive yoga retreat for two weeks and seeing my fam for another week in Cocoa Beach.
Perfect introduction back to the Mission aka my hood. Thank you Marcelo. Thank you Taqueria La Cumbre for the solid default vegan Marcelo burrito.
Tasty affordable eats in the little city by the Bay. I will be back like Arnold said!
Pros: Marcelo vegan burrito, affordable
Cons: burritos should be made equal size

Salsa will put hair on your chest - Edit
There is no shortage of Taqueria’s in SF Mission but this one offered a vegan. Menu offers plenty of choices to choose from and they actually include fresh avocados in the burrito. (Not frozen guacamole)

Yummy and affordable - Edit
They have all the vegan options listed on their website which helped me figure out what I wanted. The whiteboard menu in-house isn’t quite as clear but i’m sure you could ask! I’ve had the super vegan burrito and the vegan plate. It’s cheaper here than a lot of other places and both times I didn’t have to wait in line. I’ll be back!

Taqueria with vegan options! - Edit
I’m so excited I stumbled upon this place! The taqueria we were walking to was closed, but I knew there must be another one nearby. That’s when I looked around the corner and found La Cumbre! I was very excited to see a separate vegan menu! I had a super fajita burrito bowl and it was absolutely delicious. It was really refreshing having them know what vegan is and also being able to eat more than just beans and rice. This is my new go-to taqueria!

Vegan friendly taqueria - Edit
The Mission has most of the vegan restaurants in SF, but if I want something quick and inexpensive, this taqueria is my go-to. They understand what vegan means and they have a separate vegan menu, so I don't have to ask a bunch of questions like at most omni restaurants. The food is fresh and the staff is friendly, and they have a great salsa bar! I usually get a vegan super taco and if I'm really hungry I'll get a veggie fajita burrito. I just like beans as my protein but they also have tofu available.
