Amazing Stay, Fantastic Breakfast

Eidaya was my home for a night while visiting Kusatsu Onsen and I really enjoyed my stay. They offer traditional Japanese ryokan accommodation with private onsen baths that can be used by any of the hotel guests.

Our room for four was massive - with a sofa area for lounging and plenty of tatami space for our futons. The rooms come equipped with a mini fridge where you can store food and even had a Super Nintendo for the throwback gamers out there. It was a very comfortable stay.

The private onsen rooms were the best. There were three to choose from and you could enter any that didn't have the doors closed. They comfortably fit 2-3 people so are perfect for couples and small families. Be sure to read the temperature gauges outside to see whether the bath is too hot for you or not.

Be sure to reserve breakfast in advance. It was only ¥1000 more per person when I booked, and was one of the best meals we had in Japan. They were kind enough to make an entirely vegan meal for me and it was fantastic. Everything felt unique and intentional.

Staff were super friendly and many spoke great English as well. After we left, the manager handed us coupons to redeem for a free coffee/tea at a local cafe before we got on the bus. Amazing service!

Pros: Vegan meal options upon request
