Wonderful vegan restaurant - Edit
The food here is so good that during our stay even my non-vegan family insisted on coming back! The francesinha and yaki udon were our favorites but everything else was also fantastic. I really recommend trying the cheese cake!
This restaurant has also a lovely atmosphere with very kind staff and great plants.
Pros: The food is amazing , Kind staff

Decent meal, friendly staff - Edit
Super kind staff. Dog friendly (even with a grumpy old chihuahua). The bao starter was simply yum! Yhe chimichurri steak was a bit oily and the plate was huge (coleslaw👌), but it was a decent meal in a very cosy and quiet atmosphere when we arrived. Thank you!

Amazing! - Edit
Really amazing place for both vegans, Omnis and everyone in between. Our tour guide was a vegetarian and recommended
Read moreDef this place and I read great things so l had to try it.
I got the seitan steak which was great but the clear winner was the crispy bacon burger! It was mindblowingly amazing! So many great textures and tastes and everything was cooked to perfection. I would totally go back and get that. The fries were also top notch and paired swimmingly with the tangy mayo sauce.
The beets were another strong point!
My ipa was crisp and fresh and gave a tasty buzz! It went great with the food.
The tea is also refreshing and not too seeet. I believe they said it was also made in house which rocks!
Pros: So delicious!, Great quality, Friendly service

Nice - Edit
We shared the feta & pumpkin as a starter and it was probably my favourite dish, their feta cream cheese was amazing. The mains were really nice too, although hubby said the gluten-free bread with his Middle East bowl was too dense. I had a poke bowl mainly because I was not tempted by anything else on the menu. Portions were good and we barely had room for dessert but they were too tempting... We loved the cheesecake, although the chocolate mousse was too heavy for my liking.

Vegan safe island with some gluten free options - Edit
The staff is nice and friendly. The place cosy enough for a vegan restaurant (not the strong point in many and in average, my personal experience).
Read moreThe gf bread was really nice.
Unfortunately, for people like me having a strong intolerance to Fructans, it's difficult to pick something from the menu that does not contain garlic, onion or wheat.
This intolerance is common but not commonly known yet, and many vegan restaurants use plenty of garlic and onion.
I had to use some extra enzyme to manage.
It's a 100% vegan restaurant with a entire menu, from starters to desserts, that's nice.
They also have a local Francesinha in a vegan version, a fusion between tradition and contemporary cuisine :)
Pros: Friendly Staff, A full menu of vegan options, nice g free bread, Decently cosy with gluten free options
Cons: Quite difficult to pick a Fructans free meal

Decent Food; Subpar Service. - Edit
There are times when a restaurant seems to be the créme-de-la-creme from reviewers, and turns out (in our reality) to be like we entered a parallel universe, where the opposite happens. Kind Kitchen turned out to be one of those experiences, sadly. It was a bit of a walk from the Ribeira; however, the reviews were extremely positive and it was a beautiful evening, so the half-mile stroll appeared warranted.
Read moreThe place was fairly busy when we arrived (a good sign, perhaps?), and the waitperson who greeted us seemed friendly and showed us to an open table, then was gone. She was off to help other tables, and we never heard from her again. After an inordinately long wait for someone to show up, my other-half had to hail another waitperson to at least start us with something to drink! (Not an auspicious start, sadly....)
Being a 100% vegan restaurant, there was no questioning for restrictive ingredients, which is always a nice thing for plant-based/vegan eaters. Thus, the menu was extensive, with a wide variety of choices to be had. We decided to share a starter of Korean BBQ tofu; I ordered the burrito for my main. When the starter arrived in a bowl (large chunks of yummy-looking BBQ-coated tofu)--which we had stated to the waitperson that we would be sharing when ordered--there was no individual plates offered (nor was there any waitperson to ask for them--we just "assumed" (Oh, no, that word!) small plates would be arriving; which didn't), so we simply ate out of the bowl, which wasn't the most convenient, especially with sauce oozing off the individual pieces. That said, the starter was very tasty; although, the "Korean" sauce wasn't spicy as one would expect if you've ever eaten Korean food. Nonetheless, as stated, it was a filling starter. My burrito main dish was decent, but "nothing to write home to Mom about," as they say. The service remained absent, on par with the rest of the meal. Again, when it was time for us to check-out, we had to stand-up and find someone to pay the bill.
When all was said and done, sadly, Kind Kitchen was not up-to-snuff on the night we were there….
Pros: Tofu starter, Atmosphere/Decor
Cons: Service Staff

Came here as I wanted a francesinha. The staff were so lovely and welcoming. It was pretty busy but there's additional seating upstairs. I got soup which was delicious but really didn't need it with the Francesinha which was really tasty. Great wines available.

Expected better - Edit
I’m a bit disappointed. The service was good, and the staff were very friendly. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and has a pleasant atmosphere. However, the food didn’t meet my expectations. The nachos were average, nothing special. I also tried the sushi bowl, which tasted like something you’d buy cheaply at a grocery store. The rice was clumpy, the tofu lacked flavor, and there wasn’t much variety of vegetables. Overall, it was a disappointing experience despite the lovely environment and kind staff.

A bit disappointing - Edit
After a day of exploring the city and Porto, I utilized Happy Cow to locate highly rated vegan restaurants. Kind Kitchen emerged with a commendable 4.6/5 rating, prompting us to walk approximately 0.5 miles to its establishment.
Read moreThe exterior of Kind Kitchen exuded a vibrant and contemporary ambiance, reflecting the bustling atmosphere of the early evening (8 PM) in Porto. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the young waitstaff and promptly seated with menus. However, our experience took a turn for the disappointing.
Despite the initial attentiveness, our server’s absence persisted throughout our meal. We were compelled to seek assistance from other servers to obtain additional beverages. Notably, each plate of food was delivered by a different server, disrupting the continuity of our dining experience.
Kind Kitchen offers a diverse selection of starters and main courses. I opted for the Tofu Nuggets with Korean barbecue sauce as a shared starter, accompanied by the Seitan Chimichurri Steak as my main course.
Upon receiving the nuggets, the bowl was placed in the center of the table without any accompanying side plates. Consequently, we were unable to share the dish effectively.
The Tofu Nuggets were really good, with a crispy exterior and a delectable sweet and slightly spicy barbecue sauce. While the Korean barbecue sauce may not have been strictly authentic, it complemented the nuggets well.
The Seitan Chimichurri Steak, on the other hand, fell short of expectations. The seasoning was excessively salty, with a mushy texture. The chimichurri sauce, characterized by its raw garlic flavor, overshadowed the presence of herbs, leaving their taste indistinguishable.
Given these shortcomings, I have decided to rate Kind Kitchen three stars.

Nice Lunch - Edit
I had the pleasure of dining at Kind Kitchen during my visit to Porto, and it was such a great experience! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a laid-back vibe that makes you feel right at home.
Read moreI opted for the burrito for lunch, and it did not disappoint. It was absolutely delicious — packed with flavor and perfectly balanced. The filling was hearty and satisfying, with fresh veggies and savory spices, all wrapped up in a soft, perfectly toasted tortilla. You can really tell that the ingredients are of high quality, and everything tasted so fresh!
The menu has a variety of vegan options, making it a great spot whether you're fully plant-based or just looking to try something new. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience..
