Beautiful Israeli Palestinian restaurant promoting peace - Edit
I love this cuisine so I was very excited to come here and I just love the founding story. The food was great - a bit on the high end but worth it. I would return.

We went on a Sunday morning at opening hour with a reservation for brunch. It was 28€ per person with coffee included. It was amazing. We stayed 2 hours, ate slowly and even though we didn’t manage to finish our main plates as it was all so well served (Palestinian Asli vegan version) this brunch was keeping us satisfied for the whole day, so it was worth the price 😉 only downside was, that the Kanaan Asli could not be made vegan this day but they offered a vegan shakshuka instead.

Really nice, creamy hummus - Edit
I'm a bit of a hummus snob, and I do have to say I like the Kanaan hummus better than other hummus places I've tried in the city. It was really creamy and the "classic" also had some interesting topics - potatoes? yellow peppers/cabbage? I haven't seen that before but it was a nice touch. The pita was also pretty fluffy.

I had a falafel platter, which was nice: the hummus was good, I didn’t fully appreciate the falafel though (a bit too dry and crispy... not moist).

I really enjoyed the olive oil used to garnish the dishes: a very good quality olive oil.
Overall, it’s a bit pricey and... packed - so I strongly recommend booking (I didn’t, and waited one hour to be seated... but I really wanted to try it!)

I was looking forward to visit this place, it is always crowded and has amazing reviews. The food did not dissapoint me, the service is also good. However, the drinks are extremely expensive, a mojito costs almost 12 euros and the distribution of tables are so close to each other that is hard to sit comfortably. I think it is a good place to visit once.

I have been there both for the dinner and the brunch (pre covid) and I really enjoyed the food.

Brunch: the amount of food you get to try is insane. Everything tasted amazing and I was in a huge food coma afterwards.
I highly recommend to try Kanaan, always enjoyed it

Read moreWe went for dinner and the restaurant already „chose“ the starters for each table so you only have to choose the main course. Staff was amazing and very helpful and can easily make adjustments for vegans. The food itself was very tasty, everything tasted differently. As starters for example you get two different kinds of hummus: Israeli hummus and Palestinian hummus. Both were incredible and different. Portion sizes could be bigger though. A bit on the expensive side as well but great to spend an evening with friends.

I didn’t really appreciate where we were seated but the food was nice. I had the Vegan Hummus Burger with bicolour fries and it was very stodgy : I wasn’t able to eat anything else ! We took homemade limonade with orange blossom flavour : original and delicious. I also liked the music.

I went her about 3 months ago, so my experiences are based on then. I went here with a friend and we had a really nice meal. They had a small menu but everything looked amazing. The service was so kind and they even gave us complimentary Rugelach after our meal. We had a mezze and falafel plate. The portions won't leave you hungry and everything is presented artfully. They made vegan tweaks for us like leaving out yoghurt sauce and there was a vegan (falafel) burger on the menu which was huge. The food was delicious and carefully prepared with FRESH and top quality everything; however, I found it a bit under-seasoned (as far as herbs and spices are concerned) for my taste. The place is very bare-bones and rustic, but a nice change of atmosphere creating a unique dining experience.

We went as a group of 4 and ordered a combination of dishes to satisfy us. We made it known that there were vegans in our group and the staff were happy to accommodate us in that respect. The tea was delicious and is refillable, to top it off, they even came out to our table to top our drinks (without asking), something I've never experienced here in Berlin.

The food here is hands down amazing. Delicious hummus and salads and breads (try the Yemeni flat breads, you won't regret it...), fresh and hot pita (best I've ever had), and good dips.
Read moreDownsides are that the service was mixed - first time I went with an Israeli friend and the service was slow but friendly and accommodating. The second time I went with a European friend and it was more hostile and the chefs really didn't want to tweak the dish to our dietary requirements. In the end they made something work and it WAS delicious.
Atmosphere is a bit cold and sparse. Sometimes they're closed for zero reason.
