Okay - Edit
Typical Bali fusion cuisine, but nothing special. We had two bowls, were okay, bit small, bit boring…

Kafe is located on Hanoman Street and is a very popular meeting point for visitors as well as expats. Also, sister café of The Garden Kafe of The Yoga Barn. Every day from 8 till 11 they serve healthy food with vegan options.
Read moreThey are big on environment: they encourage people to use less plastic bags and sell items made out of recycled material at their very own shop called Kafe Kares along with organic food, Kafe mugs and health products. Certain percentage of Kafe Kares’ profit goes to charity across Indonesia. Even the furniture here and fittings made from recycled wood! These people are dead serious when it comes to environment.
Back to food business, Peoples. I have had many meals at Kafe but my favourite dish is Tempeh Cashew Nut Curry. It comes with red rice.
Pros: nice vibe, great vegan options
Cons: not fully vegan

The food here was excellent, I got the vege burger, my mum got the pesto pasta special. The staff were so so friendly and even went as far to ask if we have any dietary requirements or allergies! Absolutely fabulous will be back today for more

Mediocre at best... - Edit
Busy, small restaurant, with seating upstairs and outside, unfortunately smoking is okay here and it ruined the experience. The vegan options are few, and not impressive. Settled for the mini, raw pizza with a side salad and a cranberry spritzer; all of the food was just okay, nothing special. Did not like the service as the wait staff was too busy to give any patrons proper attention. My first and last time.

Good restaurant for flexitalian - Edit
It's nice restaurant located in Ubud, Hanoman street. I ordered homdmade apple pie and mint tea. There is some vegan choices but not so much. If you are flexitalian you can enjoy the meal, but if you are vegan...maybe not.

Many delicious vegan options - Edit
This menu is extensive with all kinds of food from Mexican to Indian to Thai and anything you order will be delicious. Unfortunately no vegan Mexican options but I’m sure they could accommodate. I wish they didn’t have meat but they do state that they try and source everything locally. My expectations were exceeded. Reasonably priced and great value.

Food is yummy. So many great choices, a wide range of meals. Staff can act a bit uninterested.
Food is overpriced. 3 fries by the burger and 0 fries by the vegan burger.

Never going back - Edit
Firstly i should say that i did not actually try the food in here. The waiter serving us had no idea about veganism which is very concerning seeing as they have vegan items on the menu. The food in here is extortionately priced, especially considering that the restaurant interior is nothing special. We ordered the overpriced vegan burger only to find out it doesn't come with fries. We then ordered the wedges with cheese (minus the cheese) and he made a point to tell us they would not reduce the price to account for the cheese. After placing our order the waiter informed us they had no vegan cheese, which at that point is when we left and went down the road to the beautiful clear cafe with wonderful service and staff who understand veganism.

Big yummy salads, but you have to know what they do well - Edit
I love the salads at Kafe, and come here just for Meg's Big Salad ☺. It's only a little sad that they serve a small amount of dressing for the Big Salad and then you have to pay 9k extra for more dressing.
Read moreAlso enjoy the coffee, and the delicious Coconut 'Bacon' they sell!
I enthusiastically brought my friends here but they were disappointed with the mezze (just not very authentic) and the Indian food (same problem). My friends felt that with these prices, they expected better.
Bali has an international community and Kafe's been around for years. Why not get someone who knows the cuisine from their region to teach the chefs how to make international cuisine properly?
Either that or stick to what you do well.
Pros: relaxing space, good soups and salads
Cons: prices don't always reflect quality, some international dishes are inauthentic

coffee ok, Burger not - Edit
We have been here several times when we were in Ubud. The iced cappuccino with coconut milk and Maca Jahva Latte were nice. The ice sorbets they have (from Kokolato) were also good. The biggest disappointment was vegan quinoa tabouli pita!! Tasteless and not good. One time we were there the waiter was so unfriendly - almost rude. Didn't speak one word with us.

Went to Kafe the other day and ordered the tofu scramble (literally the best I've ever had) with the side of breakfast potatoes, which were a little oily/salty but all in all an excellent meal. Will definitely be back there!

Out Of This World - Edit
My friends and I had desert tonight at Kafe and were blown away by the selection of deserts, milkshakes and smoothies. Between the 4 of us, we had the green tea milkshake, the peanut lover, and the coconut splash. Desert wise we had the banana bread, dark chocolate brownie, apple pie and carrot raison loaf. All of which came with fresh whipped cream, such a perfect compliment to the goodies. Highly recommend everything we had, I cannot wait to try the real food!!

perfect for tourists and locals alike - Edit
I'm not a local and I was worried about bad water and germs while I was traveling as I have a very sensitive stomach. This place was great! Very familiar flavors for westerners (nachos were great!) and local flavors (black rice bean pudding with fresh coconut milk and banana was so fresh!). Place is very urban and neat with interesting locals coming in and out. Food is fresh and very clean! Close to shopping and yoga barn too!

Best Health Food in Ubud - Edit
We stumbled upon this place after eating some terrible vegan food at another cafe on the same street.
Read moreThis place is a dream where you can get affordable North American health food fare and relax in a comfortable environment.
This is the only place that keeps busy all day and night on the strip, even outside of tourist season.
They offer free wifi until noon and then after 3pm.
They have juices, smoothies, milk shakes, coffees and lots of baked goods and desserts.
The menu clearly marks which items have dairy and meat and which do not. Most of the items on the menu are vegetarian and they can be made vegan by omitting the cheese or sour cream.
We've eaten here several times, most of the drinks are good, some depend more on the seasonality of the fruit, so when fruit is out of season it's not so sweet, but this is not their fault.
I like that they offer so many healthy dishes, like large salads, plain steamed greens, vegetable stir fry, steamed veggie bowls, vegetable soups and more.
It's a pretty big menu and they have tons of specials that are not even on the menu, so it'd be hard to get tired of the food here with such a variety. Even though a few people eat meat here it does not bother me and they care enough about their vegan customers to always make the orders right.
Pros: affordable, wide variety, healthy
Cons: a little far down the strip
