HIDDEN GEM - Edit
Great little spot for brunch! Everything was great except for the cake. The frosting was very chalky and too sweet. The bagels are amazing. The only thing that a bit off was the woman behind the counter talking to customers about her past traumas when nobody asked. Was very awkward. It is also a little hard to find as there is no signage. It's kind of tucked away in a semi residential neighborhood.

Lovely pastries and a cozy spot - Edit
Every pastry I've had at Just what I kneaded has been excellent--so glad they have such high quality (and large-portioned) vegan pastries! I also really like this space. Frogtown is a quiet neighborhood and Just what I kneaded's indoor and outdoor seating is homey and relaxed.

Highly recommend! - Edit
Hidden gem that I would highly recommend if you’re ever in the Silver Lake area. They have recently pivoted to non-vegan options, but they have such good options and we love that they have continued to offer vegan options.

My Happy Place - Edit
This cafe has an all vegan menu, with vegetarian options- the inverse of what you normally get. They have a beautiful patio where you are visited by lil birdy friends asking politely for crumbs. The menu evolves and there are different drool-worthy pastries daily.

The donuts are to die for. The breakfast sandwich was my favorite. The Crunchwrap could use some more seasoning but tastes good with the salsa.

Breakfast sandwiches! - Edit
I LOOOVE a breakfast sandwich! These were fun and delicious. I just wish they’d use a homemade “meat base” instead of impossible sausage. However my biggest issue is their use of plastics. Lot of plastics for cold drinks, water and takeaway. Switch to paper please😄

Knead Cake? - Edit
I stumbled upon this place during a run in LA a few weeks ago and my friend and I decided to try a few of their items! I had the egg and cheese biscuit which was very dense and savoury. I also indulged in a slice of their lemon poppyseed cake and also had a bite of their poptart. I had better cake but their poptart was good. Would go back again!

Expensive but so worth it to treat yourself. The cinnamon roll is beyond words. The bagel sandwiches and tomato basil galettes are another favorite. I would eat here every day if I could! The coffee is also great and atmosphere is super cute.

Busy spot with delish brekfast sandwich - Edit
I had been dying to try this spot after watching their social media from afar. It was hard to find anywhere to park on a Saturday morning and I was lucky to arrive at a time with a slight lull in the lineup. There were lots of people waiting for food and it was about a 15 minute wait, hastened by a lovely server. My breakfast biscuit sandwich was great. I also ate a chocolate chip muffin which was crunchy and tasty on top though a little too smushy and doughy at the bottom.
Read moreThe menu in person did not line up with the one I has seen online and when I asked for clarification of what was on the sandwich, the person at the counter seemed annoyed and a bit unfriendly. Also the opening days and hours of the cafe were changing constantly during the week I was visiting, which meant getting there required a lot of last minute rearranging on my part. I asked a few questions on instagram to clarify these changes and only received an answer to one out of three questions. Overall I enjoyed the food but I didn't feel as welcomed as I expected and can't be an enthusiastic as with other places I visited.
Pros: Delicious food, beautiful patio
Cons: Inconsistent opening times, Do not respond to messages or answer the phone, Curt service

This place is CUTE. I got the Crunchwrap and have been dreaming about it since! It was so delicious. The biscuits and gravy were good too. The outdoor seating is small but cute. I hear it gets very crowded on weekends.

Best Frogtown Restaurant - Edit
I love going to Just What I Kneaded. Their LA Breakfast Burrito is the best! I also love their desserts and their drinks. I haven't tried much in terms of the food, but my one complaint is that the chilaquiles need to be saucier and that they need to be heartier.

I ordered a Brown Sugar Walnut Donut and The Joe Cool. The doughnut was delicious. The Joe Cool includes Impossible fennel sausage, tofu egg scramble, smoked Gouda, and house-made jalapeño aioli on an everything bagel. It was messy, but tasty.

Walked over to this all vegan breakfast spot and luckily it got there before a line formed! I got an iced chai, a Mexican chocolate donut, and a foxy lox bagel with a fried egg added. Everything was so delicious! I loved the patio that was covered in plant life and the wide variety of pastries.

Best Bakery - Edit
Just what I kneaded is hands down my absolute favorite vegan bakery. They pride themselves in quality and fresh baked goods. It’s a small little pink bakery by the LA river path.
Read moreThey source the majority of their ingredients from farmers markets. Their desserts always change and some of their bests and classics are the pop tarts and cookies.
Their coffee is also really good and they make their syrups in house.
They also serve food like crunch wraps, chilaquiles, breakfast sandwiches, carrot lox, and many more. They have special orders available for birthday cakes and holidays.
Pros: Farmers market fresh, Quality
Cons: Parking, Long wait times

Best vegan breakfast spot - Edit
This place is a gem. This was our last spot prior to leaving LA to head back home, and at this point, it's become tradition to stop here to end the trip on a good note. I've been twice, and both times were amazing. It's so hard to find satisfying vegan breakfast sandwiches. I miss the days of getting brunch and eating a biscuit with eggs, breakfast meat, and cheese. I thoroughly enjoyed their YES Chef ! Biscuit breakfast sandwich. The biscuit had major height. I believe they have an option of just egg or tofu scramble. On this occasion, I got just egg. The breakfast sausage was well seasoned, fatty, and melt in your mouth. My husband got the "The Joe Cool", it was a bagel breakfast sandwich which was also delectable. We topped it off with a yummy latte and pastries to go. We were overwhelmed by the number of pastries in the display case. I do wish there were labels to identify what every pastry is. After asking what each one was, I couldn't remember most of what they told me. Lol. We picked a strawberry coffee cake muffin and a doughnut. We didn't love the pastries as much as the breakfast sandwiches, but I'd like to try other things they have.
Read moreThe second time I went, I tried a basic egg, sausage, and cheese biscuit sandwich, this time with tofu scramble. It was just what I needed on a rainy day.
If you're looking for a breakfast spot, this is your place. They'll be sure to have something for everyone.
Pros: Delicious breakfast sandwiches , Variety of vegan pastries
