Super tasty vegan options

My partner and I found this spot on day 3 of our LA trip and the food was so good! Definitely our favourite restaurant so far. My partner is Taiwanese and she said everything tasted super authentic. I had the scallion sandwich with bean curd and then the rice pudding for dessert. Both were amazing, I think I could eat the black rice pudding every day forever 😍

Just go

You’ll probably have to wait in line but it’s so worth it! ALL of the vegan options are amazing, I can never decide but the Dan Dan noodles and braised bean curd buns/sandwich are favorites.

Get the mapo tofu…

I came across this place on my way to the vegan donut shop across the street from it. I was happy to find that they had vegan options clearly labeled. If you visit, try the mapo tofu. I found the tofu texture to be spot on with the perfect amount of pepper seasoning. The dan dan noodles were good too, but I preferred the tofu.

Pros: Clearly labeled vegan options , Nice restaurant space

Cons: Metered parking on street (ok, but not ideal)

Dan DAMN Noodles

One of my faves! Lots of amazing vegan options, including the aforementioned Dan Dan Noodles, Mapo Tofu, 3 Cup Mushroom, and cucumber salad. It’s a sister restaurant to Pine and Crane in Silverlake and has basically the same options.

No reservations or waitlist so come at a slow time!

Simple and perfect

Mapo tofu is something I never tire of. The other vegan options are great too. The staff have always been lovely and great at service.

Pros: Great service, Excellent food

Cons: Small menu, Very popular, so often crowded.

Vegan options are FIRE

Alright so they don’t have a munch of entrees that are vegan so if you’re looking for that don’t go here. But the choices that are vegan are incredibly. I’d say it’s up there with some of the best tofu I’ve ever had in my life. DO NOT sleep on the Dan Dan noodles, oof so good.

Pros: Flavor is unreal, Good portions, Doesn’t take long but is quality

Cons: Gets busy if dining in

Favorite Local Spot

Joy is amazing - their clamshell buns are the best steamed buns I’ve ever had. Love the cold salad bar. You can tell it’s a neighborhood favorite by the constant line of people streaming in!

Pros: Lots of options, Delicious
