Great experience & wonderful food

We had three dim sum appetizers and liked all of them. We also had the spicy soup which was delicious. We'll definitely be back!

Excellent service & food

We had the fried dumplings, crab Rangoon, chili oil wontons, gochujong fried chicken, bunny bao and soup. Holy moly - excellent! The Opal drink was amazing.

Beautiful atmosphere, exceeded only by the cuisine

Elegant space, shared with a brewery. But the food, oh! The best vegan chicken I have ever had, no contest. Creative Asian-inspired dishes, with plenty of healthy options. Fun-sounding cocktails which I didn’t try this time but I’ll be back for sure!
Such friendly service too. What a gem of a place. #Veganuary

Cheung Fun FTW!

The space is absolutely beautiful and the food is phenomenal. The bunny bao were cute but honestly, not the best thing on the menu. Love all the mocktails they make, too!

Absolutely Phenomenal Food

I am absolutely blown away by the presentation of the food and the QUALI-TEA. The tea was exceptional, food was amazing, and the dessert was delicious. The server really knew how to guide us in what we were interested in and taught us how to make the tea. Would come back and cannot recommend highly enough. A little more pricey but 100% worth it.

Pros: Quality of food, Presentation

Everything was very good 🔥

I can only comment on the short menu because I didn’t have a reservation and you only get the longer version with a reservation.

Everything was great 🔥
I ordered everything on the short menu.

It was fine

It was recommended we try 2 dim sum plates per person so we got the gailan, siu mai, chili oil wontons and turnip cakes. I found the food really challenging to eat. Nothing was bite sized. The gailan had been cut in some places but not all the way through. It was like trying to eat a tree. The flavors were good but my fingers were really tired trying to carry such big and heavy or awkwardly shaped food to my mouth. The wontons and siu mai were both very meat heavy. I liked them but my partner thought they were just okay. I liked the turnip cakes but again they were very thick and difficult to eat. My partner thought they were a bit bland. The spicy wontons were pretty good but also very meat heavy and hard to pick up. I would have liked to have a spoon! Overall the food was fine, but not sure if it’s worth coming out of our way for.

Pros: Vegan turnip cakes, Tasty sauces

Cons: Hard to eat

Everything is amazing

Everything here is delicious, the atmosphere in The Emerald is beautiful, tranquil, and elegant.
The food is hearty and filling but also expertly crafted. The adobo "chikn" is tender and the sauce is just like what I ate growing up. The rangoons and chili wontons are an absolute treat and bursting with flavor. The bawan bunnies are delicate and chewy and the puto bao are yummy (and also a great vehicle for sopping up extra adobo sauce).

Pros: Entire menu is vegan , Good variety of small bites and hearty dishes, Flavor!!!

Unbelievably good dim sum

What a terrific restaurant. It’s hard to believe you can find such a good dim sum and it’s completely vegan so it’s just lovely. Enjoyed everything- food, tea, environment and people. All amazing.

Ultimate Taste Experience

What a change up from the typical vegan options. Send your tastebuds on an incredible and unique journey, as you enjoy any one of the delicious offerings. Our hats off to the chef! So talented. The sauces were incredible!!
We had the following:
Bawan Bunny Dumplings
Kimchi Mungbean Cakes
Lo Mai Gai (our absolute fave of the three!)
And on top of all that, the venue itself is very beautiful!

Pros: The food options (unique!!), The venue/atmosphere, The flavour overload!

Lovely and delicious

The Emerald Room is pretty and a nice space to dine.

I had the signature cocktail (gin), which had good flavors and balance...nicely dialed in.

The soup was, as it seems others have found, a bit bland for me, but the mapo tofu and bao were great, as were the wontons.

Many in my party are very much opposed to mushrooms (and they say *I'm* a picky eater for being vegan), so I wasn't able to try those dishes.

I'll be back and drag some fungiphiles with me!

Pros: The Jade Rabbit Cocktail and mapo tofu, Stylish ambiance, Menu options...just the right amount

This place never disappoints

I’ve read some reviews on here stating that Jade Rabbit can be hit-or-miss, and I’m telling y’all that I’ve never had that experience. I visited PDX in 2019, and Ichiza was the best restaurant I ate at the entire time I was here. I’m a die hard for the amazing food these wonderful people make. I look forward to coming here. Their Siu Mai Dumplings and Chili Oil Wontons SEND ME and help me joyfully and fully practice mindful eating. I promise you— if you come you will not be disappointed by anything on their menu but especially not those two items. 💛

P.S. Got a ticket for the Jade Rabbit x Norah tasting menu and I’m SO EXCITED❣️

Pros: Staff is amazing— and they care about their safety, SUI MAI DUMPLINGS AND WONTONS, EVERYTHINGEVERYWHEREALLATONCE COCKTAIL 👁️

Cons: That Cyrus Ichiza can’t personally feed me Sui Mai, Maybe if I ask nicely?

Really wonderful Meal & setting

Enjoyed our dinner at Jade Rabbit, the 13 medicinal herb Lan Zhou soup was really tasty and warming. We enjoyed all that we ordered, the setting as well is really nice and open. The service was also great and attentive.

Best food in Portland

Vegan dim sum is on point. The Siu mai and cheung fun are phenomenal. There may be some kind of new protein technology going on here with their vegan beef because it has the best texture. Can't go wrong ordering anything from this spot. The owners are really sweet too!

Totally Hit the Spot

Was craving dim sum last week and Jade Rabbit came through! Everything we had was amazing and just nailed it. We had siu mai, char siu bao (the dough was a bit dry but the filling was super tasty), lo mai gai, cheung fun, and gailan.
We were a bit sad that they were out of the bunny dumplings, but everything we had was delicious. Already wanting to go back for more!

Pros: The food, Atmosphere, Friendly staff

Cons: Have to order everything at once

Disappointing

Just had the most disappointing restaurant experience of recent memory here, sadly. Food took 40 minutes to come; dessert (halo-halo) came 90 seconds after the mains, and sat there melting while we tried to shove the rest into our faces. The gai lan was too salty to eat; the kimchi pancakes tasted only of sour, no salt nor spice. When we got to the halo-halo it turned out to be mostly just a mound of shaved ice, topped with undercooked sweet beans and tapioca gummies but no ice cream or coconut milk or anything. Such a bummer. Adding a star though cause the cheow fun was good.

Dim sum 🥟 and lose some

Great location for date night! Had a wonderful time out at this cool NEP restaurant. The drinks were excellent and we did get some very tasty dim sum. We especially loved the spicy oil wantons and the kimchi pancakes! On the negative side, Jade Rabbit leans heavily on recreating flavors of traditional, non-vegan dishes and uses a fair amount of meat substitutes. The faux pork rabbit-shaped bao was cute, but failed to hold together. It would be nice to see a bit more experimentation with less-processed alternatives and more unique dishes. The spicy noodle soup was OK, but lacked flavor. This was unexpected as some of the other dishes, like the vegetables, suffered from being over sauced and spiced. From what I can tell, the restaurant updates it’s menu relatively frequently and they are still working the kinks out on a few of the dishes. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend for someone looking for a few choice dishes to enjoy with very good drinks.

The best dumplings ever!!

Everything was absolutely delicious. The best, most flavorful dim sum I’ve ever had. The chili oil was the best. The bunnies are adorable even though I felt bad for eating them lol. Beautiful setting too. However, most of the seating is upstairs. They do have some tables that aren’t up stairs so they’re accessible.

Very good dim sum, just a bit too greasy for me

Grateful that we even have vegan dim sum in the first place. However as an Asian the bar is high for me. The foods are a bit greasy to me, and I am always not a huge fan of meat substitute so that was some minus for me that they used meat substitutes in the traditionally meat dim sums.

Gimmie dat dim sum

We ordered 5 of the dim sum items and they were all outstanding. We used to be devotees to Ichiza and every time I would order all of the dumpling options, it's sick that they focus on it. Also, the crab Rangoon is nuts.

Pros: Incredible dim sum, Fast and friendly service, Great cocktails and drinks

Cute place!

The bunnny dumplings are so cute. The noodle soup was also delicious. The soup is very large with a nice amount of spicy😄
