Umami-tastic

Quick late tea. Miso soup really deeply umami. Tasty kimchi cucumber was a bright complement. Mapo tofu really delicious range of flavours. Can’t wait to try other dishes

Pros: Authentic, deeply umami flavour range , Japanese tapas dishes , Friendly staff

Quite unique

Beautiful food, very sophisticated flavours and very friendly service, pricey but well worth it. You don’t pay for the decor or the location but for the excellent food. My only gripe is the they don’t do the bento boxes anymore any only one tempura option. But there’s plenty in the menu to enjoy. Good sake menu too!

Pros: Interesting dishes, Friendly service, Don’t keep you waiting for your food

Cons: More tempura options please

Wonderful

I had never really eaten Japanese food beyond sushi. We got takeout and we were guided through the menu and the options available. Really enjoyed the dishes we had.

So so good. I wish I could eat it all

this is the 2nd time I’ve been here and it’s always a good treat. Sadly the curry wasn’t available but the spicy ramen was great! It’s good to start with a few tapas options.

Pros: Lots of options, Large main portions , Good vibes

Very special meal

One thing I miss after going vegan is authentic Japanese food. This was my favorite meal in London by far. Everything we ordered was delicious and I felt like I was in Japan again. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny though. I recommend making a reservation.

Authentic and cozy

The restaurant is cozy and staff are sweet. The food is authentic so we got to try stuff we wouldn't usually have.
We had 3 tapas, 2 mains and a dessert between us, which was fine for a medium light dinner.
We had tonkotsu ramen, Japanese curry and rice for mains. As tapas/ starters we had the han rice, mapo tofu and gyoza. For dessert we had the Matcha pudding.
I would recommend the mapo tofu. Gyoza was a bit bland and I prefer it steamed to deep fried. Both mains were good. But overall we felt it was expensive for the portion size. The mapo tofu dish was the only one I felt was worth what we paid.
Fortunately we got 50% off the drinks by booking the 5:30pm sitting online. It was reasonable for that, but I would have been unhappy paying the full £7 for a small glass of smoothie.
They have a 90 minute table turnaround time but this isn't an issue given how quickly the food comes out!

Pros: Fast service, Authentic

Cons: Small main portions, Expensive

Great, authentic, flavoursome. Value for money.

This place is great. The choice is a little limited. However the food is great. Even some of the classic dishes (like spring rolls) have a slight twist. Definitely try the curry and rice dish.

So stocked to have been able to eat there finally, eating a vegan Okonomiyaki!!!
Everything was super tasty, only the tofu steaks would have been even better with s bit more soy sauce

Pros: Great menu, You can pay cash!!

Always a winner

I've been here many times and always enjoy it. Great for ordering many things to share and try with friends. Their ramen is stellar, and they also sell their spicy miso base so you can make it at home - they'll even share tips on how to make yours just like theirs if you ask.😄

Pros: Ramen, Ambience, Service

Cons: Tiny place

Top!

Pros: Les tapas, Service

Cons: Pas donné donné mais il y a du travail derrière

Delicious + super friendly staff

Whenwe arrived an energy outage had just started. Staff was very friendly and flexible. We were offered a drink and various snacks on the house, as well as a menu limited to
dishes that were available. After 45 mins the electricity was restored and we were able to order anything from the menu again. It all tasted delicious.
Kudos to the kind and very flexible staff. #Veganuary

Pros: Ramen, Aubergine , Staff!

Vegan Japanese food in London

This restaurant combines three of my favourite things: veganism, Japanese food, and London. It's amazing to be able to have vegan karaage and non-alcoholic Asahi beer. I've been there twice and am looking forward to many more visits.

Vera cucina giapponese!

My favourite

This has been my favourite restaurant in London since I discovered it more than 10 years ago. Simple, almost understated flavours, perfectly balanced. Filling but easy on the digestion. Perfect in every way.

Fabulously different

We’ve been a few times now. The tastes are quite special. Great service in a small exclusive restaurant. You feel like you’ve stepped off a noisy London street into a charming quiet quarter in a small Japanese town.

Pros: Delicious food, Imaginative menu, Good service

very yummy traditional japanese food

It was absolutely a delight to eat at Itadakizen. The lunch set (£15) made us try side dishes and we were not disappointed !! The spring rolls were sooo good (we almost ordered a 2nd round). The broth in the Udon with tempura was AMAZING. The spicy ramen were also something !!

Authentic Japanese Cuisine

We enjoyed the most authentic Japanese vegan meal @itadakizen.london in Kings
Cross.

The whole restaurant is vegan and the menu has some amazing dishes. It's tapas style, so you choose lots of smaller dishes. We ordered loads from sushi to curry and tofu to ramen.
Everything was absolutely delicious.

Totally worth the train ride up to London and we can't wait to go back!

Pros: Delicious food, Amazing menu, Authentic Japanese cuisine
