More Than Just Palette-able

Given its bold, artsy moniker, I had imagined this establishment to be a vibrant kaleidoscope of colours-a pop-art fever dream complete with Warholian whimsy and Lichtenstein-style drama splashed across the walls. The reality, however, was a far more restrained affair. That’s not to say it disappointed, on the contrary, the cool, classy, and sophisticated interiors made for an altogether calming and comfortable early morning dining experience. The only unsettling feature was a display case containing what I can only describe as deeply unnerving creations; it felt more like a barrier for my protection than theirs, the “Bread-rin of Evil” silently lurking behind the glass.
Having tactically positioned myself at a safe distance from this eldritch baking exhibit, I set about devotedly working my way through what was in fact decent quality spread. Filled with all classics, it was by no means avant- garde, but it was reassuringly satisfying. To whit, it would be difficult for me single out single items for particular praise, all dishes were equally as good as they should have been without being anything more.
So while there was no moment of culinary epiphany, no dish that launched me into a spiral of poetic adulation, I left wholly content. This may not be a destination for thrills and theatrics, but it is a reliable sanctuary for a satisfying meal in pleasingly serene surroundings-something that will always earn its place on my mental map.
