Friendly service and good food

Inés sad to see that the jack fruit aero is gone. The drink menu is fun and the sweet plantains were nice….

Food is good, not many options

The food was fine. I had the black bean and sweet potato arepa. My partner had the black bean and queso fresca one. We also had Yuka fries. All of these had the symbol for "vegan upon request." The way they made it vegan was to just take out the animal products. They didn't have vegan aioli, as an example.

We also had the salsas which were disappointing, but the chips were good, light and crispy.

Pros: Atmosphere outside, Bean and sweet potato arepa

Cons: Price, Vegan friendliness

Great flavors, nice portions

This was excellent take out when we visited from out of town. And nice as a vegan I could get something really delicious and my omni friends could find something they liked too. The fried sweet plantains were perfectly done, and my jackfruit al pastor arepa was amazing. Fresh ingredients and so tasty. Very filling—the meal plus the plantains was more than enough.

Pros: Good vegan options, Bold flavors , Worth it/good value

Few Options

The rice bowl I got was delicious, but it was the only option. The only vegan arepa option was the vegetarian option with the queso removed. I could forsee more experimentation with plant-based meats that allow vegans to enjoy their arepas without having to omit one of the titular ingredients.

On the plus side, very GF - mostly corn-based grains.

Arepa Time

A few vegan items on the menu, though the Arepa’s are the star of this show.

Cozy Arepa Spot

Nice location. Limited parking for dine-in (spots reserved for take out). Street parking available. Friendly staff. Knowledgeable about menu and able to give suggestions. Started with chips & 3 salsas + Guac. They have 4 salsas to choose from I tried the Hola (Mild & Sweet), tomatillo (mild-med), and red Chile tomato (med). I really enjoyed the Hola. The tomatillo was also good and started to turn up the heat. I was not a fan of the red Chile tomato (paste like consistency). Guac was good. Not typical Guac i have had in the past. This Guac had a sweetness to it. It was good. Small portion of Guac for an extra $4. Chips were good and seasoned … not plain. That added a new level of flavor.
I moved onto the Caribbean chickpea Arepa with yuka fries. The fries were thick, crispy, and hot. Very well made. The arepa was very flavorful. Looking forward to coming back and enjoying that one again.
There are two additional Arepas that can be made Vegan, as well as salads/bowls, and small plate options. Plenty to choose from. Don’t pass this place up if you are in the mood for some arepas.

Pros: Friendly service , Fresh food, Packs flavor

Great choices

Menu clearly marked vegan options or options that could be made vegetarian.
The black bean arepa was good even without the crema because the chimichurri was so delicious and flavorful! Passion fruit lemonade was neat too. They charge 20% on top of your meal instead of doing tips.

Pros: Many vegan options

My favorite restaurant in the TC

This place is the best!!! For someone who is vegan AND gluten-free, it’s hard to find tasty options. Not here! The black bean sweet potato arepa with yuca fries and chimmichuri sauce is my go-to bday/celebration meal!

Pros: Drinks are to die for, The building itself is super different and fun, Can’t go wrong with your order

Excellent!

I had the mushroom and raja arepa made vegan and it was delicious. Also had the yuca fries and chimichurri sauce and a mock tail. So good. There were more vegan options than are shown in the menu online.

great happy hour!

Happy hour at Hola Arepa is a very good deal! The food and vibe here is great, though it can be packed on the weekends. We just went at 5pm on a weekday and found it the best experience of all. We went during the 4-6 happy hour. The options are more limited than the regular menu but so good. We got two entrees (black bean arepa, vegan version), two pints (Steel Toe Size 7), and an appetizer (chips and 3 salsas). We threw in a 25% tip and still left at just around $30. The happy hour has had our vegan options: chips and salsa, chips and guacamole, yucca fries and black bean arepas.

Pros: good drinks, clearly labels vegan, great happy hour deals

Cons: not fully vegan , an be packed on weekends

Who knew I loved Arepas?

The 2 types of veg Arepas can be made vegan, just ask. Very tasty - make it even better with yuca fries and fresh guac for the table! If you are into cocktails, their drink menu is unique and delicious.

good arepas and tostadas

easy access from nicollet and 35th. they have their own parking lot and street parking is free.

food is good. be warned, the chips and salsa are $5 adding guac is another $3.5. I like both the fried plantain tostada ($8) to make it vegan sub beans and guac as recommended on the menu. the black bean and sweet potato arepa ($11.50) comes with yuca fries. make sure they leave off the queso as recommended on the menu.

all items gluten free

staff was friendly. prices for the arepa are a bit high, but food was good. I will go again

Pros: free parking, yuca fries, clearly labeled vegan

Cons: expensive
