An Aladdin’s Kave - Edit
With a very electric set-up within unique a setting, on face value, this almost makeshift kitchen seems to have no right producing quality, authentic food, but that is just what it does. Combine this with an exquisite coffee crafter who is in cahoots with them, and you have an archetypal hidden gem of place.
Read moreWhile I feel quite well versed in Middle Eastern cuisine in general, truthfully, I am woefully ignorant when it comes specifically to Palestinian fayre, so this was something of mini culinary journey. This adventure was curtailed slightly by the unavailability of one of the dishes I was hoping to sample, but undeterred I got what I could a settled in for the ride.
First up, a unique dish call ‘hummus’. Of course, I jest, but it was creamy and well made. The next two dishes were actually items I hadn’t encountered very often, makdous and alayet; both of which offered great flavours and textures and were backed up ably by the equally impressive taboon bread. The final plate I had, the roasted vegetable sandwich, while again not especially unique to the culture, was absolutely brilliant nonetheless. The filling was well prepared and ample, the tahini dressing perfectly zingy, and the bread itself was delightfully soft and pillowy.
Though I may not have strayed too far off the beaten track, I did thoroughly enjoy what I have and would be keen to return for more.
