Still The Best Sushi 🍣 - Edit
I visited the original Happy Maki venue a few years ago, and then again at Vegan Campout. So we thought we'd try the new venue on Sydney Street and it's still the best sushi ever! Now even better with the vegan Lemon Cod and vegan Salmon. Highly recommend this community based cafe. The staff are so friendly.

Tasty - Edit
Although there was a reduced menu choice the day we visited (no bowl options) we had a couple of rolls, tofu pockets, edamame beans and cauliflower sides between two. Cauliflower was amazing and the rolls tasty and filling.

Delicious and fresh! - Edit
Really tasty and all made fresh. Sadly the options with chick’n weren’t available due to supply issues but what we did have was really nice.
Read moreHighly recommend the cauliflower wings which are the best I’ve ever tasted.
You also pay what you feel - so a price is given to show what the items cost to make and then you can decide what to pay. An interesting approach.

Pros: Fully vegan, Lots of choice
Cons: The lack of chick’n was a shame

One of my favourite vegan places in Brighton! - Edit
I love love love Happy Maki! There's a good range of different sushi rolls, all delicious but my favourites are the "duck" one and fully loaded. And the sides are delicious too, especially the popcorn cauliflower. The pay as you feel system is a good idea too. It's one of the best vegan places in Brighton, and that's saying a lot!

there is nothing like the cod sushi burrito - Edit
First time I went to Happy Maki I was overwhelmed with choice, so asked the server what they recommend. They said the Crispy Cod, which would have been my last choice as it sounded odd. However they convinced me and oh my goodness - absolutely brilliant and unique. I have tried all the rest however there is just nothing like the cod. Their BLT for Veganuary was great though! Pay as you feel is a great initiative. No plastic packaging as long as you don't get sauce with the sides. Where else can you get sushi burritos? Go to Happy Maki!!

Amazing sushi-rrito - Edit
We were visiting Brighton for the day and tried Happy Maki for the first time and weren’t disappointed, though two rolls and two sides for two people was more than plenty! Recommend the loaded chickn roll and the Christmas cauliflower pieces. We had to queue outside for covid reasons though once we got in the staff were genuinely friendly and chatty which prompted me to leave this review. We’ll be back :)

Amazing sushi and ethos - Edit
I’d already tried Happy Maki at Boomtown Festival and fell in love so had to visit when I was in Brighton! The sushi was delicious ever and staff were lovely.
