Vegan restaurant set in an old school building. Food is made with mostly local, seasonal, and organic produce. Typically 2 weekly menus - one 'Hagedis' menu, and a more luxurious menu, in addition to a la carte. Child friendly. Could bring your own boxes or plates for a takeaway meal. The two waitresses and the cook were extremely friendly. At first I was brought a different starter, with many apologies I was served the right one. They were both tasty, the mustard sauce is very flavourful so the little amount is definitely enough. I missed a sweet component, so I asked for - ketchup - but they didn't have any, so I got a mango chutney which was a perfect addition.
The main dish was very good for what it was, it just wasn't exactly to my taste. The tzatziki was too thin I think.
The dessert plate is perfect to try a lot of stuff: the brownie was too dry and too little chocolatey, the creme brulee was veryyy nice and lemony, the ice creamy, the carrot cake simple and the pear-orange cake extremely fudgy and tasty.
Overall, it's definitely worth a visit. Looking at this weeks menu, there's more stuff to my taste on it, so just visit whenever the menu looks appealing to you - you won't regret it!

The location deserves a special mention. High ceilings, big windows, low-key friendly atmosphere, and lovely staff. It’s not in the city center but worth the trip! There’s a space to sit outside as well

Von der Innenstadt läuft man circa 30-40 Minuten zu Hagedis. Es ist ein wunderschönes Restaurant welches früher mal eine Schule war , dies wurde mir von einem älteren Mann erklärt der auch dort essen war. Es ist richtig gemütlich , alle sind super freundlich und lieb. Die Karte ist auf Niederländisch aber es wurde mir sofort alles übersetzt und erklärt ohne das ich auch nur ein Wort gesagt habe. Das Essen war auch einfach so lecker , es gibt eine Tagessuppe , ein Tagesessen und auch einen Tagesnachtisch/Kuchen welcher auf einer Karte vorne am Tresen steht.

Read moreThey had a special 4-coursed Valentinesday menu. To start we got a stewed pear prosecco. It was very good and balanced. The antipasti was delicious and the fettuccine was very creamy and so rich in flavour. Finally we got a really good grand desert which contained several small bits of pies, ice cream and stewed pear. Brownies, carrot cake, cheesecake etc. Again, it was very good 🤭.
The communication with the staff was great. They are all very friendly.
I can only give 5 stars for this evening. Thank you Hagedis 💚

We would love to recommend Hagedis for the food, which was great, but unfortunately it was the one place in The Hague and Amsterdam we visited that does not take international credit cards.
Read moreThey did not tell us this prior to the meal (and we are obviously American) so we had to spend twenty minutes afterwards trying two credit cards, a bank card, considering a wire transfer, and finally having one of us had to walk two blocks to an ATM (which of course takes the bank card with no issues just like every other shop).
If they had told us before the meal or had any indication on the menu or the entrance it would not be a big deal, but in a city where the public trams, dive bars, hotels, and every shop takes cards just fine—and to be told nonchalantly by staff that it’s “common in the Netherlands” and it “happens with tourists”—is very poor communication.
We spent our last night and last meal of vacationworrying about paying. The same issue happened to another customer at an adjacent table. We appreciate that not every place wants to pay for credit fees, but they should at least warn guests to save everyone time and frustration.
If you want great vegan food than this place is with the cost, but if you are a tourist be aware and come prepared

Between four people we shared rice sheet rolls, oyster mushroom bitterballen, gyozas and mushroom tempura. They were all good. Two of us had the daily special, a nicely spicy seitan dish with quinoa, and two had the corn tortillas which looked very good.

A must in Den Haag. The room is beautiful and the staff so friendly. The good is the price totally worth. A rare experience!!!

I loved this place! The building is special and the interior is very cosy. There are some nooks with cute table setting. Not many a la carte dishes, there were two 3-course menu's, a day menu, and the fondue. Several starters and deserts. We had the soup and fondue, really enjoyed it. One of the better cashew fondue I tasted so far.

This is a beautiful building with l really nice indoor decoration. I booked for myself. I did want to try the fondue but being on my own that seemed hard, so I tried one of the two set menus they had, changing a dessert item.
Read moreFor my entree it was bruschetta with pesto cream and lemon oil. Very nice. The orzo was served with mushroom sauce and leek although I couldn’t taste the leek. I swapped the dessert and had the tiramisu cake. This was served with ice cream. This was nice too, but I prefer tiramisu served in a cup rather than cake form.
