Best vegan meal I’ve had in years - Edit
I got the vegan poutine, and it was the best meal I’ve had in a few years. The prices are good. The atmosphere is great. The service is excellent. The food is sublime. It’s the best restaurant in Asheville. About half the menu is vegan.

Very tasty seitan shawarma - Edit
Seitan shawarma wrap was really good (no modifications required to make it vegan). Hummus and pita were also winners. Several other vegan options, I'll have to try more next time!

Hidden Gem - Edit
Gypsy Queen is the only place we’ll eat when we’re in Asheville for a day trip. Their vegan options are absolutely incredible and unbelievably good! I always get the vegan “not lamb” shawarma wrap and the texture of the seitan is always perfect, and their vegan mint-cucumber sauce is amazing. The portions are huge and the customer service is always fantastic. Great patio for those with dogs, and gender neutral bathrooms too which is always a plus.

Always good - Edit
Been coming here a long time and it seems like they just get more and more vegan options over the years. The food is always good and the staff are wonderful. Love the brussels sprouts, cauliflower, Lebanese fries...ultimate comfort food. My go-to used to be the Yum Yum wrap but lately I've been really into the Beet Shawarma wrap. I also really love the swiss chard & lentil soup. Vegan options are clearly labeled on the menu and there are a lot of them.

Lots of vegan options, very yummy, friendly staff, fast service - Edit
I stopped by this place with my husband after a long hike to grab some take-out dinner on a friend's recommendation. I probably wouldn't have prioritized this place based on its location but since we were doing take-out, it wasn't a concern. Even though the restaurant is on a busy commercial strip, once you get inside, it has a lovely ambiance.
Read moreThere are many vegan options and all are labeled. I had a mezze, which was delicious and fresh. My husband had a bowl with the "not lamb" and said it was very good. We split a piece of chocolate cardamom cake.
You can also buy some Lebanese provisions such as spices and sauces in the little shop by the counter where you order.
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Fresh and delicious, Friendly staff
Cons: Location on a busy commercial strip

Best stuffed grape leaves ever! - Edit
Good food, easily veganized. The server was knowledgeable and helpful. I had the hummus and falafel bowl, which was delicious—also a large portion for sharing or take home. I look forward to trying some of the other dishes on my return visits.

There are so many choices for vegan options. I don't have to deconstruct my meal and try to make it vegan. I've tried many different dishes and love them all! The falafel is amazing and their Lebanese fries are the best I have ever eaten.

Creative veg options - Edit
I love their use of beets as a base for some of their vegan options, it's such a unique change of pace. A huge proportion of their menu is veg, maybe almost half? Great for lunch. I've been a number of times. I wish they didn't serve lamb, but maybe if people kept ordering more veg stuff they'll stop. :)

I enjoyed the falafel and all its combo items. This was my first Turkish meal. I enjoyed it, but I think I prefer Greek falafels.

Smells delicious! - Edit
(Eaten during COVID-19 kerfuffle) Ordering was easy, as was pick up. We had to endure the delicious smells eminating from the bag for 20 whole minutes as we drove to our final destination. Smells were the best part. I got the Yum Yum wrap as it was highly recommended by Happy Cow reviewers. It was all right. Unsurprisingly, a wrap made mostly of pita, french fries, and cauliflower was a bit bland. The hot sauce is delicious and pleasantly creamy. Would recommend getting to dip fried cauliflower/brussels in for a little extra flavor. I would eat here again, but I would order something else. Maybe the beet shawarma?

Baklava - Edit
I only stopped in the try the baklava- because I have been way to lazy to make it at home! It was okay. I appreciate the effort made to veganize it, but it was very dry and didn’t seem as if oil or vegan butter was used between the phyllo dough. Instead balanced layers of nuts/dough all of the filling was in one layer at the bottom. Also, the honey was omitted but not replaced with another syrup.
