Good vegan options, hope they ditch the taxidermy! - Edit
Biggest turn off was the fact that there is a lot of taxidermy AKA dead animals on the walls of Golden West Cafe. That aside, we shared the vegan breakfast burrito & the vegan hot & honey chik'n and waffles with locally made Little Fig vegan chicken. Both dishes were amazing and flavorful. Coffee was some of the best we've ever had.

Yum! - Edit
We came here before the theater and we’re glad we did. We started with two appetizers: the Buffalo cauliflower and the teriyaki Brussels Sprouts. They would have made a substantial meal for one. Then, my Daniel had a vegan burrito bowl and I had the spring chicken sandwich with fries, totally vegan. Loved every bit of it, down to the cocktails. Look forward to going back.

Vegan breakfast burrito changed my life! - Edit
I like their sandwiches and lattice fries but the vegan breakfast burrito changed my life. I think breakfast is the way to go at golden west.

One of the best vegan spots in Baltimore with tons of yummy options. Breakfast burritos are legit and the vegan baked goods are pretty fantastic.

I’ll come back to Baltimore for this - Edit
I was in town visiting for the day and this was #1 on my list of places to eat before heading the airport. The restaurant is in a cute part of town that offers local shopping as well as other restaurants, so during our wait we dropped into a few places.
Read moreAll around good experience. I ordered one of the several chicken sandwiches and asked to sub the pepper jack with another cheese, but the server told me it wouldn’t be fried the same way. I opted to stick with the pepper jack but to my surprise the kitchen swapped it out for mozzarella sticks instead. GREAT CHOICE.
My friends ordered vegan and non vegan food and since we were heading out we took everything to go. Even sitting in to go containers for an hour, the food was impeccable.
BIG fan of the Little Fig chicken.

I wanted to love it... - Edit
I had high hopes for golden west— I grew up in Baltimore and hadn’t eaten here in many years. It just... was not that impressive or even decent, quite frankly. Maybe we came on a bad day? Cauliflower wings werent bad but the flavor was v basic and they weren’t crispy— something I couldn’t easily made @ home. Vegan crab cake tasted like dog food to me. Chicken sandwich WAS GOOD but nothing to write home abt. I’m not trying to rag on them and again, this could have been a kitchen off-day, but I wouldn’t eat here again except to order the tater tots, lol.

Love the tots and vegan sauces. Aztec burrito is great. They have new vegan options all the time. Ask the server for recommendations. The addition of little fig “chicken” is outstanding.

Vegan menu and lots of specials! - Edit
I love their food and go there fairly regularly for their vegan menu and good variety of food! They often times have a rotating selection of baked goods in stock as well as delicious specials that change often. They aren't fully vegan but that does make it a convenient place to bring omni friends.

Take out - Edit
Ordered take out. Never been and ordered online via website. Website doesn’t give descriptions on all the items so you may have to call if you have a question.
Read moreOrdered El Supremo Vegan Chicken sandwich and VT French Silk pie.
At the time I didn’t know what was on the sandwich but there is an updated list/description now on the site (EL Supremo Vegan Chicken: Little Fig vegan fried chicken, lettuce, tomato, pickles, wild island sauce, and fried vegan pepper jack cheese. served with waffle fries.). It was huge! Messy! But so good!!
I didn’t know what VT meant for the pie, but looking further assumed it meant Vegan Treats bakery. Pie was okay, but not my cup of tea.
Want to go back and try more things. Hope to get to be able to experience eating indoors soon. #quarantine2020

DELICIOUS - Edit
My boyfriend is not vegan and I am... we literally drive here from DC almost twice a month. The food is so good. We haven’t had anything we didn’t like. My boyfriend likes wings and we got their version of wings and he said “these are the best vegan wings we’ve ever had.” Their food can literally convert people to veganism. They do incredible things with impossible meat and they have vegan treats. If you have any non vegan friends... this is the place to take them. It is so good .

Tasty food, dead animal decor - Edit
I loved that they had a dedicated vegan menu you can request. Servers were good about specifying “non-dairy creamer” and “vegan butter” when speaking, so there was no confusion or need to confirm. Food was delicious. My only complaint was the giant stuffed dead moose bust on the wall. I prefer not to look at animal carcasses while eating. 1 star lost for serving animal products and 1 star lost for hanging a dead animal on the wall.

Lots of Options and Delicious! - Edit
Wow. Came here again during vegan week (surprise!) for the first time in over a year and I'm just really impressed. They asked up front if we needed any vegan or gluten free menus, and they had so many options. Everything sounded very indulgent. It was dinner, but I got the waffle monster redux (waffles, sausage gravy, fried chicken, just egg) and was really happy with the textures and flavors of everything. Even a vegan drink menu.

One of the best Vegan options in Maryland! - Edit
I’ll start off by saying I used to fear coming here after my first “vegan week” experience. This was during their very first one, where I was served real meat tacos instead of seitan.. but, this place has gotten SO MUCH better with training their staff and understanding vegan food. I actually look forward to each time I come here now. The food is absolutely delicious! Lots of comfort food options that you don’t see anywhere else.

Nachos for days - Edit
I ordered the nacho salad and it was HUGE! I love big portions so this was fab for me. This place does have a separate vegan menu w lots of options (no dessert listed, though). The inside decor could use some help (animal skulls on the wall and a bust of a yak?). Not the best environment to eat you vegan food in, but it certainly didn’t hinder me either.

Very happy vegan!! - Edit
I was very pleased to find out that they have a whole separate vegan menu. They asked us when we walked in if anyone needed the vegan or gluten-free menu, and our waiter was very conscientious about answering all our questions. Even all the specials were 100% plant based! At the end of our meal when they brought some chocolates with the check, they also brought some vegan fortune cookies to make sure everyone could enjoy a little treat. Delicious food, amazing atmosphere and service. 10/10 recommend!

Good and not-so-good - Edit
This was our first visit. Decor was fun, except the taxidermy animals on the walls. Service was good. Brussels Sprout appetizer was over cooked for my taste, salty and looked/tasted burned. This seems to be the way other restaurants prepare them, so maybe it’s just me. The cold peanut noodles were bland, not peanutty and tasted off, so we didn’t eat them. Main dishes were good: nachos and southwest burrito. Flavors were good and portions generous. The coconut lime cake was very good, moist and it was a large slice. I would go back if in the area and try other dishes.

There is an entire menu dedicated to vegan options. We did wait awhile for our food, but everything came out delicious and the servers were super friendly. The place is very busy on weekends. There are so many options and it was hard to choose. I had a breakfast burrito and it was awesome. Definitely will come back.
