Gokoku Guru - Edit
All the great eats at this super delicious North Hollywood adjacent, but very much in Studio City restaurant/ramen place/"sushi" bar.
Read moreGokoku, also known as Gokoku Vegetarian Ramen Shop is a savory as well as sweet spot for quality plant-based eats.
Their flavorful ramens, epic sushi rolls, beautiful bentos, ravishing rice places, nom nom noodles, desserts and more are all things you should explore.
At the corner of Lankershim Blvd/Aqua Vista St - running just above the Los Angeles River, a few skips from Universal Studios Hollywood.
Dine inside at a table, the bar or on their cozy patio. For foodie must. These rolls are essential:
Beyond Meat Roll
KimBop Hand Roll
Vegan Popcorn Roll
Spicy Vegan Tuna Roll
Spider Vegan Roll
Swallow Sand Roll
Vegan Popcorn Roll
One more Spicy Vegan Tuna Roll
Volcano Vegan Roll
and another Vegan Popcorn Roll lol (soooo good).
For the co-star of the show (all the ramen):
The Mushroom, Beyond and Tantan Men are my personal favs, but the
Hard Tofu Ramen, Mayu Garlic Jalapeno Ramen, Pineapple Ramen (savory plu sweet for sure), and Tomato Ramen are enjoyable much like the Gyoza "Dumlings" with chili oil, Vegan Baos... fried Garlic Noodles.
Miss their Banana Rama Roll (sushi dessert - heard it's coming back), but there's honestly so much to enjoy here including gluten free chocolate cake. Love coming here with bae (non-vegan), on a solo outing and with friends (chosen fam) as well as the bio fam when they're in town.
Soy sauce, sanitizer and most essentials at the table.
They bring out everything else and keep the beverages refilled, especially on warmer days #GratefulforGokoku
Great for dine in, take out or deliver.
10/10 service.

Super tasty delicious vegan ramen - Edit
A very large menu with many tasty options, with very pleasant staff and excellent service. In addition to the hard tofu ramen, my table guest ordered an appetizer of tofu that was spicy and quite delicious. I plan to come back!

Every time!! - Edit
Gokoku has never missed!! We always get (2) orders of the not chicken skewers bc the first time we went we only got one and that was not enough lol, they are a must! Sushi rolls are always a hit no matter which one and always come out so fast idk how they do it. Last night I tried the teriyaki rice dish and that was also amazing! I wanted to switch it up from getting ramen and was not disappointed. (ps their ramen also goes hard🔥👊🏽🌱)

Vegan Ramen! - Edit
This is one of our favorite restaurants. We usually have ramen (I like the kabocha especially) and sushi. In our last visit we also ordered sushi to go - such a smart idea! We enjoyed their food even longer. We come here on a regular basis for the food, environment and great service.

I didn't like the food. The harsh white ceiling lights make the dining experience less pleasant, and the staff uses cleaning products with a strong smell that takes away from the enjoyment of the meal

In the neighborhood - Edit
The hard tofu, Ramen was really good. The flavors and veggies paired really good together.
Read moreThe fried cauliflower was lacking. It was covered in way too much batter and the cauliflower was missing from the flavor.
The personnel seemed to have forgotten that my wife and I were even there simply because I chose to sit outside. The music inside was way too loud for such a small place.
Will I try this place again? Of course, I will always give a place a second opportunity to make it right and change my mind.
Pros: Hard tofu, Wood ear mushrooms , Black beans
Cons: Fried Cauliflower , Inattentive staff

Food was okay but everything seemed a bit off--server was apologizing about the dishes after looking at them despite us not complaining (???), WAAAY too spicy for requesting medium

Amazing every time - Edit
My friends and I have gone here multiple times and no matter what I've ordered I've thoroughly enjoyed the food. The dishes are great on Average. My least favorite dish was still really tasty and satisfying. The ramen is great but I think the sushi is where the true magic is at. Absolutely in love. On the pricy end but well worth it.

All vegan ramen - Edit
This place is misleading because it’s called “vegetarian ramen,” but the waiter confirmed everything on the menu is vegan. It’s a super small place and the service was so-so, but the ramen was delicious. The best things we tried were the jalapeño ramen and the dry stir fry udon noodles. The broth had great flavor with charred jalapeños in it. The curry was fine, not my favorite. The extra spicy udon was also okay, just not as flavorful as the jalapeño ramen. They also have lots of sushi options, so I will definitely be back.

The sushi rolls are good… - Edit
I have been meaning to try this place for a while now. I have to say that the sushi rolls were very good. I recommend the spicy tuna roll and the popcorn vegan roll. I wasn’t too impressed by the ramen. I had the Beyond Ramen which was decent, but I have had better ramen at other places. The menu is extensive, so I would definitely come back to try some of their rice dishes.

Gokoku is Worth the Visit! - Edit
Whether dine in or take out, the food is always flavorful. The fried cauliflower is one of my favorites. Vegan sushi isn’t my thing, but from what I’ve tried here, it does deceive you to almost tasting like real fish. This place is known for their ramen, dine in for it when you get a chance. Did take out but their food is way better fresh and while it’s still warm.

One of the best in LA - Edit
With so many vegan/veggie places opening in LA, this still stands out as one of the best. One of the most varied and creative menus for Asian food lovers. It’s overwhelming every time we visit, and we always end up too full!

food BOMB but service/cleanliness bad - Edit
ok this place has bomb ass sushi and ramen. one of my fave spots BUT everytime i’ve gone, the dishes you get still have like a crust on them or the service is like exasperated that you ask them to wipe the table down. like ok… i would just order takeout but they use like all plastic and i’d rather use so much trash.

Beyond Ramen is insane! I had to pace myself. The broth is so delicious. The bowl is packed with fresh vegetables, beyond meat and tender noodles. Just too good. A must try.

Eating here was a great experience. The food was delicious and they are actually all vegan, I think, except for an egg that you have to special request for the ramen soups.
