Vegan okonomiyaki - Edit
Had to queue a long time, 90 minutes after we lined up at 1900. But it was worth the wait. Finally I had vegan okonomiyaki. We sat at the "bar" with a kitchen view, which was a nice experience. The okonomiyaki was also very filling.

Shocked by the reviews - Edit
Ordered the okonomiyaki with soy meat. It’s shockingly flavorless. It’s just a mushy soggy batter with flavorless cabbage. The batter tastes like nothing. The cabbage is just filler. The soy meat is pvt that was just heated with water. Then some sweet sauce on top. The thing is so flavorless that even the grill doesn’t help. So far the worst food I’ve had in Japan.

Delicious - Edit
Didn’t see the “line up early” comment here and arrived at 5, had a line up of about 15-20 in front of us. We made it in, sat for about 30 before getting in and getting the vegan options. Got the noodles and 3 other options which was a good amount of food for a family of 4. They have a small space but they move through people quickly, taking your order from the waiting area so food arrives promptly after sitting.

Authentic experience with vegan options - Edit
Great little place but get there early as it’s popular. We are out of season, arrived at 730 and were the last people accepted in the Q. Last orders are 930.
Read more5 or 6 options on a vegan part of the menu so easy to find the choices.
Would def recommend.
They call it a Japanese pizza and it def feels a bit of a “dirty” meal, would be great hangover food!
Pros: Authentic experience , Very tasty, Easy to find the vegan options

Comida deliciosa - Edit

Good but not worth the wait - Edit
Non-vegan Okonomiyaki and Teppanyaki restaurant that has a couple vegan options on the menu.
Read moreWe had the okonomiyaki with soy meat, which was good but nothing to write home about. The place has a cool vibe (you have your own stove at your table where you can cook your food / keep it warm), however the wait to get in was super long (more than 1h) since it is apparently very popular and in a lovely location in old Kyoto.
This is not really their fault but made our experience way worse. Personally I found it overhyped, food was indeed good but not worth the wait. I wouldn't recommend unless you're lucky enough to find a short line outside.

Nice food, but too small for the price - Edit
I ordered vegan Negiyaki with vegan meat with the large size (300 Yen on top for the size) and I was disappointed. While the size seemed alright, I had two small pieces of vegan meat, which wasn't worth it.

The food was all delicious! The food was served on a giant hotplate which was thoroughly cleaned between uses. They also kept mine and my husband's food separately on the hotplate when I requested. Nice to try local dishes veganized.

Best yakisoba I’ve had - Edit
Beautiful setting, delicious food, friendly and helpful staff. My omnivore husband and I were satisfied! We arrived at about opening time in the afternoon to avoid queues, but when we exited an hour later, the wait wasn’t too long- if you want to be seated straight away, arrive early, otherwise be prepared for a little wait. Either way, it’s worth it, in our opinion!

Seating is limited, so I’d recommend arriving before opening. It opens at 4 PM on Fridays—we got there at 3:40 and were the first in line, but a queue formed quickly. By the time we left, it was huge!

WISH I COULD GIVE 5 STARS!! - Edit
Wow, what an experience!!! First of all, we got there around 6pm on Saturday and waited about one hour to get in. We were so excited we could not care less about the wait. We ordered whilst waiting and when we went in our food was ready!! The food was INCREDIBLE and the vibes of the restaurant were even better. One of our favourite parts of our Kyoto trip😄

Delicious okonomiyaki - Edit
We came to this place twice. Love the traditional atmosphere and the food. They have a dedicated vegan menu with many dishes including okonomiyaki, which is a must try. I got the regular one and the one with added soba. They also have vegan mayo and vegan okonomiyaki sauce. The only thing that maybe some people might dislike is that they serve the food on a common hotplate then there might be a minimum contamination (never happened btw).
