Has a small retail section offering hand-made hemp clothing, vegan-friendly goods, and Japanese interior items. The business concept is “Born on earth, return to earth.” Last cafe order is 5PM. NOTE: Reported that retail section is vegetarian and not vegan. Open Mon-Tue 12:00pm-6:00pm, Thu-Sun 12:00pm-6:00pm.

Like what they do here.. Food is very well presented, staff is very helpful and speak English. Fermentation is strong but delicious and feels like first aid for my micro biome.

This restaurant offers a vegan luch set menu with Okayu (japanese rice porridge) and several small side dishes. The food is really good with interesting flavours. It is really healthy and filling at the same time.
Read moreThey also offer dessert. I got the mixed plate (half) for 700¥, there was a raw chocolate, an fruit terrazzo out of cashews and enery bar like cake. All of wich were extremely delicious!
There is also an organic shop in the restaurant selling clothes, tableware and different health products.
The restaurant has an very natural and relaxed atmosphere.
It is really close to the imperial palace but there are only locals there which is a very good sign.

Read moreI ordered the set and it took about 15 minutes to come out. I was in a bit of hurry as it was before my flight and eating hot porridge quickly is difficult to do. I did really enjoy the sesame tofu and black sesame tofu with wasabi soy sauce. The natto cracker was interesting, not too funky. There was a dish of thinly sliced pickles, another of lightly steamed/boiled colorful vegetable and some beet pickled radish. It’s quite a light meal. Reminds me of comfort food when you’re sick.

Savoury porridge is interesting but ultimately not for me - Edit
They have a set option for lunch. It was savoury porridge with some sides. I really enjoyed the tofu side. They were interesting and the vegetables and pickles were great too. The savoury porridge was nice to begin with, but I wasn’t enjoying it at the end. That is on me though, not the cafe. I wanted to try foods that I don’t eat in Melbourne. The staff were really nice.

Peaceful Oasis - Edit
After a busy walking day in Kyoto this place offers a tranquil atmosphere. The seating area is small and in the same room you’ll find a selection of eco clothing ( designed by one of the chefs ) and organic cosmetics. The set menu comes with a big bowl of savory rice porridge and lots of side dishes. It was just a perfectly soothing meal for body, mind and soul. The pomegranate kombucha was served on ice which made it so refreshing. To end we enjoyed a small plate of raw dessert which was neither too sweet nor too heavy. The kind ladies working the shop made us feel very welcome with their warm politeness. Loved the ethereal music.

Overall it was OK but we went to better places in Kyoto - Edit
I called in for lunch and tried their porridge set meal. I quite enjoyed the side dishes but wasn't overly keen on the actual savoury porridge dish. I tried one of their raw cakes and it was quite hard to eat as it was still frozen in the middle.

The staff was very friendly, explained the dishes and even presented me an organic mandarine!
