Shojin ryori at it’s best! - Edit
Stayed here 1 night this November during the Koyo (autumn leaf) season.
Read moreAlthough I had shojin ryori at many temples before, it was my first time staying at one overnight.
Although the hallways were quite cold, our room was properly heated and there was even an onsen! The food was excellent. So many little different dishes. The package included dinner and breakfast.

Prepare your back and your legs (depending on your flexibility) for some discomfort, but your tummies and your soul to be happy :)
Read moreOne of the most authentic experiences we had in Japan! When staying in this temple, you get to experience a traditional Japanese room (with complimentary green tea and wagashi), a real onsen, a Buddhist prayer, and of course Shojin Ryori.
Pros: Amazing seasonal food, Budhist ceremony
Cons: Curfew at 9pm :S, Slightly uncomfortable futon bed
