Would love to rate 5 stars, but Happy Cow won’t let me

I’m a huge fan of field & fire! This seems to be the only omnivorous restaurant in the area that serves tofu and tempeh. The bread is organic and made in-house, so the sandwiches are my go-to picks. You are also able to “pick 2” at lunch time. I love to order either a tempeh grain bowl or salad with my falafel sandwich.

Pros: Organic bread , Vegan protein options, Variety of menu items

Cons: Busy, Lack of seating

Astounding Breakfast in Grand Rapids

At this point, if you visit Field & Fire at any time of day it will be packed. This small breakfast bakery has grown into the trendy hangout for brunch in Grand Rapids.

And for Plant-Based patrons, it is a great option. There are many vegan items and meals that can be customized to be vegan. They usually have a rotating daily vegan special. And, as advertised on their social media, one of their newest chiefs is himself vegan.

I highly recommend the vegan hash. It is the best hash I have ever had, it has some of the smoothest cashew creme, and it features another Grand Rapids business with its faux meat: Nutcase Vegan.

They also have vegan pastries. The double chocolate muffin is vegan, and is a great option for a sweet tooth. The vegan orange cranberry muffin is also very good if you want something a little more tart.

Make sure to order a bread loaf to-go, as well. Seriously, it’s that good. And they usually offer 1/2 off day old bread that is still really fresh.

I go to Field & Fire all the time. It’s a definite recommendation for plant-based diners looking for a good, filling breakfast.
