Vegan do nuts - Edit
Vegan Donuts from Family Donuts & Deli is the best treat!
Read moreMany are vegan donuts, there are some that are not vegan just ask! Staff is friendly and helpful.
I’ve been there many times and it’s usually consistent with the varieties of vegan donuts it will depend on when you go.
They checked the ingredients for me and I got a chocolate oat iced coffee one time from them it was good but not amazing.
I highly recommend them! #Veganuary

Taste amazing! Ask for their vegan menu - Edit
Their vegan menu has quite a few options on it! I really enjoy the chocolate ones and the bear claw seemed to be a favorite in the store. The only one I didn't love was the blueberry jelly donut - it wasn't bad, the jelly just wasn't what I was expecting. I want to go back to try more!

Great selection of vegan donuts - Edit
We went in on Thanksgiving day to get donuts in the morning. A sign on the door told us that they would have more limited holiday hours (4am - 1pm).
Read moreThey had a large selection of vegan donuts and a helpful laminated guide to indicate which ones are vegan. Includes lots of classics including a custard-filled.
Friendly and fast service. Immaculate strip-mall-donut-shop vibes.

Not Vegan - Edit
If you ask them what donuts are vegan, they'll point to the top row. The top row has a wide selection including my old favorite, the peanut butter filled bar. It also has the classic round donuts with a couple variations, but some round variations are one row down. Why are these rounds not vegan? You wouldn't think sprinkling coconut or sprinkles on top would be a problem. It seems completely arbitrary.
Read moreBut worse still, I've seen donuts with whipped cream on the top row. I find it hard to believe that they are buying plant based milk and egg substitutes, vegan chocolate and vegan whipped cream, using them for a small random selection every day and not even labeling which donuts are vegan.
It's only reasonable to conclude that there are no vegan donuts at Family Donuts & Deli.
Pros: Tasty
Cons: Not Vegan

Yes, they have vegan donuts. I just posted their vegan menu as proof.

And what makes them vegan?
Read moreIf Cattleman's said they had a vegan steak, you'd probably ask what's in it, right?
They need vegan milk, egg, chocolate, sugar and maybe butter substitutes to make them... so they've been going through all that, making donuts that taste and feel exactly like their non-vegan counterparts, and they haven't been advertising that all these years until now?
SacVeganista
They've had vegan donuts for close to a decade. They've never outright advertised them. I asked why years ago and they said they were worried that it would scare off their regulars. The menu is there if you ask.
Read morePosdrums3
Have you asked what makes them vegan? That seems like basic due diligence for veganism.
Read moreThe reason you've given is obviously bogus. Every major grocery chain advertises their vegan products, and carnists still shop there.

Vegan Donuts on the Weekends. Just Ask! - Edit
One of the best kept secrets around Sacramento is this little donut shop on the corner of Fair Oaks Blvd and San Juan Ave that has a wide selection of undercover vegan donuts on the weekends.
Read moreThey don't label the vegan donuts in fear of their loyal omni customers freaking out, so you're just going to have to go early and ask for them.
The apple fritter and boston creme filled are to die for.

The donuts taste like what you remember… - Edit
Just ask the staff which are vegan…they don’t label them so that mean the omnis are eating then too (insert evil laugh here). Usually all the basic fluffy donuts are vegan and they don’t taste any different from the donuts you had before going vegan! Winning! Be aware they’ve gone back and forth between having vegan donuts available everyday and only having them on the weekends…so you may want to call ahead and check just to be sure.

Apple fritters for the win - Edit
We live 30 minutes away so it’s hard to make this a regular stop when vegan donuts are only offered on the weekends. We haven’t jumped around the menu at all, only ordering the apple fritters, and I think one time maybe a double chocolate old-fashioned.
Read moreYou do have to ask which ones are vegan because they aren’t labeled. The fritters here taste better (and are also better priced and sized) than the fritter we had at another vegan establishment in midtown.
It would be nice if they’d go full time vegan on a portion of their menu so as to not have to plan out donut eating time, lol.
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Lack of labeling improves the lives of omnis
Cons: Only vegan on the weekend, Have to ask which ones are vegan

Plenty of options, including specialties like jelly-filled and peanut butter roll. They taste just like the fluffy non-vegan donuts my dad and I got weekends when I was little

Wow this place gets busy. All the vegan donuts were on the top shelf. Sprinkle donuts were not vegan but they had a couple of large fancy styles available in addition to regular round glazed. Glad they open early!

Not the best donuts, terrible espresso - Edit
Was a bit disappointed by this place. The donuts all reminded me of what a standard glazed krispy kreme tasted like. The latte was one of the worst I’ve had since travelling through America.

Have Questions - Edit
We have concerns if they are actually vegan donuts. When asked, the lady who helped us didn’t know what they do to make them Vegan but said, “no egg and no milk”. They don’t have anything labeled Vegan for certain flavors, they just will tell you these here or there.
Read moreThey tasted great but if they aren’t vegan then it would be very disappointing as we feel like we got false advertising. All the donuts didn’t have a different taste which worried us. We have been vegan long enough to know that certain things do taste different when using substitutes.
We had all “Vegan”:
Chocolate Custard Filled
Maple bar
Maple butterfly
Regular glazed
Regular Chocolate
Regular Maple
I hope we are wrong but would advise they label which donuts are vegan and which are not. As well as have signage and a story of what they do to make them.
Pros: Can order ahead for bigger batches
Cons: Vegan donuts only Fri, Sat, Sun

Classic raised donuts - Edit
The vegan donuts here are classic raised donuts - and good ones at that! They don’t offer vegan cake donuts or vegan old fashioned donuts yet. Would love to see those soon! But we got the vegan chocolate chip raised donut with chocolate filling, plus a few other vegan raised donuts and vegan donut holes. We called ahead to order the vegan donuts, but when we got there, they had a bunch of other vegan donut options already made so we chose a few from those also. We were here on a Sunday.

DONUTS! - Edit
This place is so great. Yummy donuts, friendly atmosphere, and non-dairy milk tp go with your coffee. Oh, did I mention they have vegan fillings?
