The salads are amazing, the rest mid - Edit
The salads are huge, really well seasoned and delicious. The falafel is so good. The 3 stars are only because of the food.
Read moreOur experience in the restaurant was really strange, the staff is weird and a bit rude. And there are no lights if you sit outside after 10? And they moved our table while we were eating (literally the whole table with the food included) because there was a big group coming. The drinks are mid as well.

Fala-FULL - Edit
Visit number 2. Had the falafel wrap and Tabouleh salad. Easily could have shared. Fresh and lovely food. The falafel were delicious, unlike those spicy dried testicles you get in the supermarket. #Veganuary

Authentic Lebanese food in the heart of Shanghai. Lots of vegan options with great tasting salads, dips and crunchy falafels.

No vegan labels - Edit
We trusted HappyCow regarding vegan dishes. Workers here could only say 2-3 words in English and didn’t know what „vegan“ is. Dishes are huge, we ordered too much (forgot to take a photo of falafel salad)😅 the food came one after another, that was confusing. Too expensive as well. But, everything was tasty

Lovely food. - Edit
Great food. Menu in both Chinese and English. Staff spoke good English and understood what was vegan. Portions are large so I would be careful to not over order as we did.

Delicious Falafel wrap - Edit
Truly delicious Falafel wraps, I lived close buy and it was just too easy to pick one up on the way back from work. Also had the Quinoa which was deliciously fresh. Fair pricing.
Read moreVery busy in the evenings, service was quite slow sometimes. Had to remind staff that I was waiting to pick up food after ordering at the counter.
Pros: Great food, Easy to find

Falafel cravings fully satisfied - Edit
I am a huge falafel fan. At home, this is weekly on my menu. After 3 weeks Shanghai, without falafel, my cravings and expectations were super high when visiting Eli Falafel. Took the humus and falafel salad (which came with 2 puff bread). Due to the (rather mixed) reviews on Happy Cow, I suspected to be disappointed, but I can honestly say: it was great! Falafel was crispy on outside, great flavor and not greasy. Humus lacked some seasoning for me, but nothing what a squeeze of lemon and a bit of salt cannot fix. For me, the portion was more than enough and ended up to take the rest with me for lunch tomorrow. Lesson learned: Shanghai does have good a falafel spot and I will come again during my next visit.

Good for what it is - Edit
Nicely presented and a good place to go when in Lujiazui. Based on previous reviews, we ordered a few dishes, which ended up being way too much!

Okay - Edit
We ordered the dip trio to share which was okay tasty but not very much food for a dish that’s meant to be shared. We had to order extra bread and still didn’t feel like it was enough. Maybe we misunderstood and it’s only meant to be a side dish but at that price I would expect more food.

Great food! A bit pricey - Edit
The food was great, real middle eastern food, taste of home... I'm glad I found this place, I will definitely be back here, even though the prices are a bit expensive for what you get.

Tasty western venue - Edit
The first thing that I noticed when entering is, that literally there are apparently no local people anywhere, it's a fully western place and accordingly the staff speaks perfect English which makes things a lot easier. I had the vegetable combo and a falafel wrap. I thought that the vegetable combo comes with all different dips offered, but you have to choose one. I took hummus which tasted great but be aware that the puff bread costs extra and has to be explicitly ordered. With just the veggies it won't fill you up. The falafel wrap was very fresh and tasty even though I'm not sure if the sauce was vegan. Overall it was a really pleasant experience and the taste is outstanding but it is a little more pricy than your average place.

Yummy Mediterranean vegan options - Edit
I got fries (awesome, despite that they come with a massive scoop of mayonnaise on the side) babaganoush (delicious and somehow creamy, with a side of toasted thin kind of bread) and a falafel wrap to go (large, filling and tasty.) I will definitely come back to this place.
Read moreThe opening time is wrong, however. I walked in at 10 to eat early but was disappointed to be informed that they actually open at 11. I came back at 11 and that might be why the food was perfectly fresh and delicious. I was the first one there but the place filled up quickly.
Pros: Solid vegan options , Good service , Fresh tasting delicious food
Cons: They don’t open at 10, actually 11

We had the Baba Ghanouge (which comes with hot puff bread) and I had a falafel pizza (the sauce on top is tahini). Really filling, we loved the Baba Ghanouge!

A good find - Edit
We had a delicious lunch while at Eli falafel. We had the trio of dips which included hummus, babaganoush and muhammara , 5 piece falafel, fattoush salad and the Zatar bread. It was a lot for 2 people but we wanted to try it all. The falafel was especially good so don’t miss that if you get a chance to go. When we arrived at about 13:00 we had to wait for a seat because this restaurant is so popular, so get here a little early.

Bigger, brighter, better. - Edit
This is the newly opened second branch of Eli Falafel, it's got more seating for staying to enjoy the food. The falafel wraps are so tasty and filling, the chips are fresh and so is the hummus. We tried the set of 3 dips, hummus, BaBa Ghanouge and Muhammara with veggies and Lebanese hot puff bread, so good and vegan. The owner makes his own ice cream if you are vegetarian I'd recommend it. Even though they serve meat here it's a place I've been to with just vegans and carnists. I listed this place as it's good to have options and they do the best falafel in Shanghai.

Cons: Also serves meat
