EH Vegetarian, Singapore - Edit
The lady said to me they don't add milk nor egg when they cook, and that they don't screen the packaged products they buy to be anything stricter than vegetarian. They share the serving utensils between dishes without 1st cleaning the utensil. Hence, food cells from the non-vegan items can easily cross contaminate to items that may otherwise have been vegan. Seems odd to me this place is thus categorised on HappyCow as vegan.

The packaging they use indicates this is another branch of ABC Vegetarian Food 健康素食 (and not named EH Vegetarian as per the current HappyCow listing title).

You can click, update and report the changes and get them de-listed as vegan then drop them down to 1 star.

Hi theNumberOfTheBeast
Read moreI submitted a listing update on the day I published the above review. The listing update hasn't been acted on. You'd have to ask the HappyCow powers that be why that is. I submit lots of HappyCow listing updates that seem to be either not acted upon or converted by the people at HappyCow into something misleading from what I submit. Again, you'd have to ask the HappyCow people why that is.

Hi vegankuntz

you have been in Singapore long enough, you should know that economic rice stalls are mass production kind. These stall owners will use the same ladle and tongs to pick up all your dishes.
if you expect different tongs to be used or to be washed, maybe you should dine in more expensive cafes or restaurants.

Hi JimmySeah
Read moreTo humbly reply to your attempts at deflection.
1) "you have been in Singapore long enough, you should know that economic rice stalls are mass production kind. These stall owners will use the same ladle and tongs to pick up all your dishes."
Your comment seems an inaccurate sweeping generalising. Some venues use 1 dedicated serving utensil per dish (you've been in Singapore long enough to know what you state in inaccurate). There are other places that e.g., keep a separate serving utensil for egg dishes from the vegetable dishes.
2) "if you expect different tongs to be used or to be washed, maybe you should dine in more expensive cafes or restaurants."
Maybe the answer is simpler than what you suggest; HappyCow stop claiming places to be all-vegan when the business itself (such as this 1) doesn't claim claim to be all-vegan? Can you provide please the proof from management of this establishment that they claim this venue is all vegan? Alternatively, maybe you could enlighten us please on, what entitles to claim a place is all-vegan when management market the venue in question as having no stricter dietary adherence than vegetarian? I'm genuinely interested to know as I may learn something.

Most, if not all, of the economy rice stalls in Singapore have the same ladle and tong for all dishes.
Read morePersonally, I have not patronise this stall. It has been a while since I added this entry to HappyCow, i can't remember the details. For this case, I classified it as vegan probably because my vegan friend told me it was fully vegan.
Usually, when I add new entry to HappyCow, i will classify based on the boss/staff said. However, it's not uncommon for the boss and staff comments to differ. Sometimes even factual info like opening hours and rest day are different. Anyway, when in doubt, i will add them as vegetarian.
