awesome vegan fast food

The place is quite dark and noisy but you won't mind because the food is awesome. Was about time we had a fast food place offering vegan options and this one is awesome!

amazing meal

It was great to go somewhere that i could choose from practically the whole menu. So many vegan options and my meat eating, vegetable hating partner loved it too!

Well worth a visit, especially if you are looking for something satisfying and filling.

Pros: lots of options, great atmosphere , friendly staff

Fab junk food restaurant

Offers a great range of vegetarian and vegan junk food, they also offer a couple of stew type dishes. Lovely environment, fab & helpful staff, great service all round.
The food was of high quality and they're quite large portions (both myself and my husband ordered a burger). A large amount of chips and we ordered onion rings on the side which were delightful but we were both stuffed. I'd recommend the seitan burger, great flavours, the jackfruit burger was gorgeous too.

Pros: No need to worry about meat!, Large menu, Reasonable prices

Cons: None

Fantastic Unhealthy Food

I loved this. Some veg*n restaurants are virtuously healthy - which is fine - but I like the concept of a good, honest junk-food cafe.

Feared the worst from the outside. It looks like it's next to a strip club and it had a scruffy exterior. Once you go downstairs a huge, funkily (is that a word?) decorated restaurant appears. It has a nice bar and plenty of rustic tables and chairs.

The food is great. HUGE portions (never seen so many chips on one plate) and I loved the burger. I came again and had the Thai green curry, which was also amazing and hopefully healthier.

They have a vegan menu, although everything on it is on the main (vegetarian) menu so I'm not sure why they don't just mark things vegan on the main one.

The staff are great too - friendly and good-humoured - although doesn't that sum up all scousers?!

You have to go here.

Pros: Huge portions of tasty junk food, Great decor, Friendly staff

Nice place . friendly staff

Staff were nice and friendly and it's not too pricey. Down below street level. Careful or you'll miss it. Has vegan menu and veggie menu. Beer choice poor.

Pros: vegan menu, vegan ice cream

Cons: Very poor beer choice . mainstream and American. T

Meh

I think it's really awesome that a veggie and vegan junk food place exists but the Seitan burger I tried was not nice at all and the tofu dish my partner payed £5 for he ate in one bite. We also thought everything was over salted to make up for the otherwise bland flavours.

Pros: Chunky chips are nice, Very jazzy loos

Cons: Seitan burger tasted bland and had a weeeeird text, Drinks overpriced , Portions too small for their prices

Fun alternative

We had a pleasant meal here - the restaurant / bar setting itself is very special, the lighting and decor makes for a lovely backdrop for a drink / meal out. We both opted for the seitan 'strips n chips'. The portions are generous and we were really full afterwards. It is a fun option for a "junk food" style meal out, but not one of our favourites in the city. Good location near to Liverpool One. The staff were lovely and I think we'll be returning for cocktails to enjoy that decor again.

Pros: Friendly staff, Convenient location

FAST FOOD HEAVEN!

Finally a vegetarian/vegan menu that I would willing put myself in a food coma for. With so much choice, I painstakingly narrowing down the menu (a first for me) and ordered one of their many burgers and could not have been happier with my order, it was bigger than my head and mouth-watering. On top of their amazing food, It was reasonably priced, The staff were amazing, the cleanliness of the restaurant was second to none and bit of an odd one but they gave out feminine products in the bathroom which deserves a standing ovation

Pros: Vegan junk food, Big selection, Good price

Cons: a little dark, but that's reaching for a con

Down the Hatch - Game, Set,. Match

Fantastic! Junk and comfort food just like you thought you couldn't have if you were vegan or veggie. But you can! And it's satisfying and delicious. Friendly welcoming service too and cool decor to match.

Pros: Great selection, Good value, Friendly service

Yas!!! What a fantasic place!!!

I am so pleased that a restaurant / bar like Down the Hatch has opened in Liverpool - it is just what the city needs. Upon entering you are greated by incredibly friendly and welcoming staff and asked if you would require the vegan menu - a thoughtful touch. The vegan menu has a great selection of dishes including absolutely excellent seitan - what a treat!!! In addition to the phenomenal junk food there is also a lovely sounding Thai green curry and Jamaican stew... plus vegan cake and ice cream. The service was prompt, efficient and the food was absolutely piping hot - my pet peeve is cold chips... not at this place! The drinks menu has a great selection of cocktails, beers and soft drinks; I was in heaven when I saw cream soda, a favourite childhood drink. I absolutely cannot wait to return to Down the Hatch. It is also very nicely decorated, clean and has a lovely vibe - a real gem.

Pros: Excellent vegan grub, great value for money , friendly

amazing

Can't recommend this place enough. Lovely, dirty junk food - but all vegetarian or vegan (there are some really lovely looking non-junk-y meals on the menu too, I just can't resist the naughty stuff). Separate vegan menu, really nice staff, great cocktails, nice atmosphere. I love it.
