Incredible !!! - Edit
I’ve been here at least 6 times in the past year and I can’t rave enough about it!! The pizza is unreal- would have it every day if I could. Perfect amount of salt and pesto in my favorite basil pesto.. the truffle pizza and fennel sausage pizza are also delicious. Go for brunch, late night dinner .. and don’t forget a reservation. P.S. French toast 😋

Expensive but delicious - Edit
This restaurant has been on my radar because cacio e pepe is my favorite meal and they of course have a vegan version! Ordered that and the pepperoni pizza. The cacio e pepe was absolutely delicious - the flavors were on point! However, the cashew cream was just a little too thick towards the bottom of the dish. The pepperoni pizza was fantastic! The dough was exceptional and toppings delicious. Definitely want to try more of their pizzas.
Read moreThe only deterrent to going back often would be the prices - it’s pretty expensive, even for the East Village.
Pros: Great pizza. Delicious pasta., Nice atmosphere., Friendly.
Cons: Expensive!

Disappointing - Edit
Was really exciting for this place but found it very underwhelming. Pizza was pretty good if a bit light on toppings and cheese. I also ordered the meatball dish which was an entree; but ended up being for small meatballs which where nice but not good; no where near worth the 18 dollars. I didn’t feel it was worth the hype.

Fancy vegan pizza - Edit
The pizzas are really good! Good tomato sauce, good dough and amazing vegan cheese.

Well Worth It!!! - Edit
I’ve been to Matthew Kenney restaurants before, such as the excellent XYST farther Uptown, but had never tried this pizza-focused location on Second Avenue, in the East Village. I only tried two dishes, but both were excellent. I felt obligated to get one of their signature pizzas, and chose the artichoke, which was with a cashew cream base, along with diced tomatoes and spinach. Nice combination of flavors and textures, with the artichoke complementing the creaminess of the plant-based cheese. The pie is sizeable, made for sharing. I had half and ordered the Cacio e Pepe, which was in topped with ground almonds (referred to on the menu as “Parmesan”) and mixed in a cashew cream. Seasoned just perfectly with pepper, it was the hit of the night. Place was packed early on a Saturday. Not hard to understand why. Would highly recommend it.

Upscale pizza - Edit
If you’re into upscale pizza, this is a great spot. It’s loud inside so don’t expect anything calm. But it’s cozy and the pizza is delicious!! It’s not oily or like your average New York pizza.

Good pizza 🍕 but crowded and small - Edit
Took an eternity to serve us but we got a dessert for free which was fine. The food was pretty good but the prices are at the higher end of the scale. Further inside its really loud and crowded. Only 1 toilet for each gender... and we got our bill immediately after we finished eating again.

Amazing food - Edit
Love the food here. It is well-executed and tastes amazing. Not all healthy, but it’s great quality and everything is made from whole food. Had the best pizza and pasta here.

Best vegan pizza I have had. - Edit
I pretty much gave up on vegan pizza a few years ago, but ended up at double zero pizza while tourist thing in New York. The pizza I had was amazing, reminded me of the old days of when I eat regular pizza. I was pretty much blown away, and did everything I could to get back there, but did not make it. I guess now I have a reason to get back to New York.

new menu .... not so great - Edit
I tried double zero a few months ago with a friend (who is non vegan) and we both LOVED it. We were so obsessed she even asked me to organize her birthday dinner so we could go back with a few friends. Their new menu, however, was really subpar. The service was also terrible, and I asked if they could accommodate an allergy by removing something and they said no. Really regretted going and spending $30 on pizza that was NOT good. The new menu is not online anywhere so I can’t reference it, but I believe the one I got was called squash blossom and it ... didn’t even have squash on it or cheese! it was literally just tomato sauce with basil. do not recommend going here until they change their menu again. I did try one of their desserts - the GIANDUJA SEMIFREDDO - and it was phenomenal... like truly life changing.

Disappointing pizza and service - Edit
It is hard to reconcile our experience with the positive reviews. The gluten free pizza we had today was very tough and chewy. It was difficult to get the crust out of my teeth. I did not like the sauce nor the cheese. I am vegan and gluten free and haven't eaten real cheese for over ten years so I am just comparing this to other gluten free vegan pizzas I've had mainly in my home, Denver. If you are in the neighborhood it's ok, if overpriced, but don't make a special trip like we did. While they were great at keeping our water glasses filled, the waiter was very inattentive and did not once check on us, just brought the bill and even then did not ask how our meal was.

The best pizza I’ve ever had! Every pizza is different, they don’t all play off the same ingredients as is traditional. Truly an experience. I’ve brought multiple friends/family here and they’ve all loved it. They have the best dough! Roughly $22 a pie- a pretty good value considering the quality of the food

surprisingly large pies - Edit
The spicy marinara arrabbiata and truffle cashew cream pizzas balanced each other out super well, but my friend and I got full fast. We went on a Friday night so I'd probably stick to sharing one order next time around to avoid as many leftovers, and take advantage of their happy hour special (50% off beer and wine, 3-6pm) instead. The kitchen closes 30min prior to closing so there's no reason to not visit if you're craving a creative vegan pizza around Bowery.

Tasty Vegan Pizza! - Edit
For me personally I’m not into the classy trendy vibe of the restaurant, but luckily they do take-out as well. It was my first time in New York and I had to have pizza while I’m here. I was recommended the Pesto Pizza by the person working there and first bite was amazing. A most go for sure!

Delicious pizza - Edit
Had the pesto pizza. The "ricotta cheese" ( made from macadamia I think?) was so, so good. The base is also great. Not cheap so we didn't have any starters or alcohol (cheapest glass of wine is 12$!)
Read moreThe plates were also a bit impractical (metal platters on metal tables) and our table on the terrace quite small, but overall a good destination for fancy healthy pizza. The alcohol-free spritzers are delicious!
Pros: Healthy and fresh, Tasty non alcoholic drinks , Delicious pizza especially nut-based cheeses
Cons: Expensive wines, Not much choice for dessert (only 3), Impractical plates

WAY. TOO. EXPENSIVE. - Edit
My friend and I split a single margarita pizza and the bill came out to $30. The pizza was too dry and they charged us for extra tomato sauce. We only drank tap water. Won’t be going back.

Pizza is good, but overpriced. - Edit
Every single item is over priced. The pizzas, the cheese platter, the salads... The cheese platter was tiny and not worth the money.
Read moreI don’t think I will be going again. And I don’t think they will last long - if they want to keep the prices, they need to make the pizzas bigger!!! $20 an average for a 11” pizza is unreasonable to say the least. And more cheese on that cheese platter - $22 is ridiculous for the small amount of items on that wood board.
Pros: Good food, not amazing, Staff had a bit of attitude
Cons: Very expensive

Creative vegan pizza - Edit
This place came highly recommended so I had great expectations. We were a group of 5 and and ordered 4 pizzas and the cheese plate. All the pizzas were very good (I think my favorite was the pesto). But the cheese plate was very disappointing. Very small, poor value for the money and I’ve have much better vegan cheeses at other restaurants.
