Such a nice place, cosy atmosphere, very friendly staff. I think the word 'buffet' is a bit misleading, it is more like a salad bar. Having said that, the salads were delicious, and so were the hot dishes we ordered separately. On my next visit to Gent I will definitely be coming back here!

Met vintage spullen ingericht gezellig en rustig café, gelegen in de buurt van het uitgaanscentrum, lang open en dus zeer geschikt voor wie tijdens het uitgaan zin heeft in een gezonde snack.

Je betaalt niet per bord maar per gewicht.
De zaak wordt uitgebaat door twee vrienden, die bedienen je in een prachtige op maat gemaakte en unieke salopette.
Boven is een kinderkamer waar kinderen kunnen spelen, ook heel wat spelletjes aanwezig.
Dit is een café waar alle leeftijden terecht kunnen en de catering is 100% plantaardig.
Na 22u betaal je 25% minder aan het buffet, zodat er niets moet worden weggegooid.
De optelsom van bovenstaande maakt van De Salopette een uniek café!
Met uitzondering van de soep is er geen warm gerecht op de kaart, tijdens de wintermaanden kan ik me voorstellen dat een warme optie zoals een vegan spaghetti of lasagne welgekomen is tijdens het uitgaan.
We vertoefden er tijdens de Gentse Feesten twee keer op hun gezellige terras, een fijne ervaring!
Update februari 2026: Ondertussen zijn er warme gerechten aan het buffet en hebben we er genoten van een benefietdiner met heerlijke gerechten van cateraar Gewoon.Anders.

Very friendly, comfy place to eat, and hang out. There is a fireplace, brick walls, outdoor and indoor seating. There's a full bar, but I came for the vegan buffet. On the evening I came, the buffet consisted of several tasty salads, and really good hummus, good dark bread, and really nice cauliflower soup. The staff is way nice. I asked if the buffet is available till the 1am closing time, and was told that, yes, it is, with 25% discount after 10pm.
