De nieuwe eigenaar heeft bijna alle vegan opties van de kaart gehaald, en voor wat vegan gemaakt zou kunnen worden zijn de ingrediënten vaak niet in huis. Jammer. We lopen door naar de concurrent aan de overkant.

Ik wilde 5sterren geven maar dat mag alleen bij volledig Vegan plekjes. Maar dit is echt mijn favo go to! In de winter vegan chocomel met vegan slagroom en een lekkere wortel cake. Zomers heerlijk softijs! En uiteraard lekkere kroketten/bitterballen, frietjes, vegan mayo, en andere hapjes en lekkernijen! Ik neem altijd nog extra gevulde koeken en wortelcake mee naar huis!

Nice options but no vegan soft serve! - Edit
There were so many options which we really appreciated (burger, fried snacks, tosti, baked goods) but sometimes the labels were not clear! We ordered a vegan ham/cheese tosti but were then told that "vegan ham does not exist" so we just ordered a cheese one instead. And most disappointingly, they have no more vegan soft serve! We were told their supplier had stopped making it and so there would not be a vegan soft serve option available anymore, which is such a shame!

Been here 2 times now, and i love the placement. For a typical dutch snackbar they have a lot of vegan options. Also it is always special to eat soft ice-cream as a vegan, love it.💕

We were tipped by friends to eat here and it was fantastic! Lots of vegan options, such as ice cream, various snacks, burgers, pastries, poffertjes, they even had vegan mayonnaise and whipped cream. The staff was very nice and they said that more and more vegan options are being added because they think this is very important. The location is in the middle of the forest and you are close to the Kralingse Plas, where you can enjoy walking, cycling or just chilling.

Wow, so many vegan options in this tiny place. They have a lot of savory and sweet snacks, icecream and pies. I had a simple croquette on a bun with mustard but it tasted really good. Will try the vegan “poffertjes” next time!

Such a cozy place - Edit
For me it is absolutely marvelous that a tiny place like this, far from the center, has so many vegan options. They have things you can’t find anywhere else in Rotterdam. They make their own vegan whipped cream for your hot choco 🖤 I’m in love with this place and truly recommend to stop here during your walk around the beautiful lake and forest.

And in season they also sell some bio vegetables, like tomatoes, potatoes and cauliflower to take home for a reasonable price.

A bit of a disappointment - Edit
We heard such amazing things about this place that we went to check it out. Sadly we were a bit disappointed. The soft serve itself was fine but the chocolate tasted cheap, mostly sugar and artificial flavouring instead of actual chocolate. This sadly ruined the experience but if we are near again we might try something else out.

When going for a walk in Kralingse bos we passed this place. I'm not familiar around here, so it was a surprise to find it at all. I wanted to check if they had vegan hot chocolate, but came out with a (Vegan!) soft serve ice cream instead. Oh my, it was amazing! Can't remember the last time I had that. To my astonishment they also served vegan pea soup and whatnot. And the staff was super friendly too. HappyCow won't let me give 5 stars, because it's not fully vegan/vegetarian, otherwise I would have.

I would like to give this place 5 stars but I could not. They actively promote guests to take vegan options, they have quite a lot of activism flyers in the snackbar. They have many many options, vegan mayo, vegan snacks, vegan hot chocolat with vegan whipped cream. The place is cute and the staff is super friendly.

Vegan surprises! - Edit
This might be the last place in Rotterdam where you would expect vegan food, but it’s here! It’s a very old fashioned Rotterdam place with true Rotterdam folks (no hipsters in sight). They offer vegan versions of Dutch snacks: bitterballen, kroket, kipcorn and vlammetjes. Also offers vegan mayonaise and some vegan cookies/ cakes. Service is fast and no fuss.

Lovely customer service and lots of vegan options, many vegan ice creams including a soft serve ‘mr whippy’ Style ice cream which was fab with lots of vegan toppings available, they also had a few more substantial vegan options, and it is situated in a beautiful park with a lake. A must visit in Rotterdam!

I wasn’t expecting much from this place because it looks like (and is) a traditional dutch snackbar. So don’t expect a cosy place to relax a while, expect quick, fried but delicious food. There were a lot of vegan options (multiple vegan croquettes, mayonaise, icecream, soymilk) and the woman behind the counter was very friendly and clearly knew a lot about her vegan/veggie products. Great place for a quick snack or a cup of coffee and a toilet break!

De Eekhoorn is my favourite place in the Kralingse Bos. Very friendly staff. Vegetable and vegan options are available. Lot of foods and drinks are organic. For instance home made soups, vegan organic croquettes,, organic beers, drinks and vegan ice. Sells also small amounts fresh organic vegetables, fruits and eggs.
