Delicious food, peaceful atmosphere - Edit
A short walk from our Shibuya hotel, we ordered the salad roll and some ice cream. The salad roll was epic, just the right size to satisfy without being too full and left just the right amount of room to enjoy the gelato. The matcha flavour was delicious but the rum raisin was out of this world! Gonna make another trip before we fly out.

Such cute vibes - Edit
Such a cute little cafe near the station - great for a light lunch and drink. The Buddha bowl was great, my matcha on oat was delicious. Absolutely worth taking a book to soak up the gorgeous surrounds for a few hours!

Hidden gem in Tokyo - Edit
My friend and I visited this spot for a light meal and some weekend studying, and to our surprise, it was nearly empty. The croissant was a delight—buttery and fluffy. Plus, they offer free Wi-Fi that’s strong enough to get work done on a laptop.

Oasis - Edit
Wow this place is a lifesaver. Just got off an overnight flight to Tokyo and all vegan cafes except for CERTY are closed! Temperatures rising and this place was open when I got here at 8.40am. I forgot to take pics bc it was just fresh and delicious hahahha. We got a Taco wrap each and iced oat latte with gelato. Perfect for a 30⁰ day.

Great Role Model of Circular and Sustainable Community - Edit
CIRTY CAFE is an environmentally friendly café located at Forestgate Daikanyama, and is just around the corner from Daikanyama Station. The main building of Forestgate Daikanyama was designed by Kengo Kuma, a prominent Japanese Architect known for his contemporary architectural style. Although CIRTY CAFE was designed by other architects, it’s also an iconic style of a two-story wooden building constructed of timber from forest thinning in Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Not only is the café surrounded by lots of greenery both inside and outside, but also has a rooftop farm. Worth noting is that all the doors at the café are non-automatic.
Read moreThe café is part of a community called “CIRTY”, which was established under the concept of “Promoting a circular economy and sustainable society”, targeting the year 2030, rather than the distant future. The name “CIRTY” was coined after “circular”, “city”, “community” and “2030”.
CIRTY CAFE aims to create a circular community by offering plant-based dishes with three keywords: circular, local and fresh. They use vegetables and fruits grown by the local partner farmers who use compost processed by the food's recycling system. Non-standard vegetables and in-house cultivated herbs are also used for their menu. Their cutlery is 100% compostable.
Since all items are vegan, you can enjoy a wide variety of meals, such as salad bowls, soups, gelato and lots more. I ordered a soup-and-rice set: minestrone and herb butter rice. For dessert, I savoured a cup of chocolate raspberry gelato and had a refreshing cup of rosemary tea. All of the portions were substantial and delicious. Moreover, I really enjoyed a pleasant time surrounded by the green environment and appreciated that I was able to contribute to and support their concept, even if just to a minor degree.
I hope the café spreads beautiful ripples of circularity and sustainability amongst the society.
So, what about you? What are you going to eat? Have a think about the CIRTY CAFE.
