Bomb

The tofu tacos are super good. Watch out for that orange salsa, it's good but pretty spicy (at least if you have babymouth like me). Best to eat in or order in-store for pickup (by phone you get an automated answering thing) because there's a delivery surcharge for ordering online.

Pretty good

Got a tofu taco and papito tofu sandwich. Make sure to ask for no cheese, aioli, or crema. Their guacamole and hot sauce are really good. Definitely a good spot if you are craving tacos, platanos, etc or if coming with non-vegans

Cuban/Peruvian comfort food!

I stumbled on this place again in December/January 2020, was hungry. The speakers playing songs in Spanish drew me in, and my love of plantains had me scouring their menu for vegan options. I made a big meal out of rice and beans, plantains, guac and chips, and their vegan dessert, a coconut pudding with cinnamon. Sometimes they have mango-passionfruit but I have yet to taste that goodness. I asked to make sure their rice and beans were cooked vegan, and the staff seemed aware and happy to answer all my questions or ask the cooks if they didn't know. My heart was so happy to eat this food, and it got me remembering the importance of a good dish of rice and beans for feeding my vegan soul!

Strong recommendation if you have connections to Latin American culture (I'm from Miami and regularly miss platano maduro and all the Cuban/Puerto Rican dishes I love being in my life!), or if you want to try something delicious and new. The main menu does have many meat dishes, and dairy features regularly in the non-meat dishes. Staff is really friendly and accommodating about taking crema or cojita cheese off of your order (for the salad or tacos). The dessert is the one listed vegan option. I think their horchata is vegan, composed of rice, water and cinnamon.

They have a second location in Alameda. They're take-out only right now re: the pandemic. They have excellent spaciousness protocols in place, including different areas to wait for delivery pickup, for people ordering, and people picking up their own orders. The musica piped in softened my heart, and the delicious food made my day! (I couldn't finish both the warm food and the chips and guac, so I ate my plantains and rice and beans with happy relishing, and ate the guac and chips for a snack later!

Pros: Great Latin American staples, Friendly and knowledgeable staff, Sweet Spanish music

Cons: Many meat dishes
