Excellent cooking class - Edit
We took the cooking class with Chickpea, and it was our favourite experience in Hoi An, which is saying a lot since we love this town! The food was really tasty, the guide was knowledgeable and nice and it was just a really good experience over all.

More than just delicious food - Edit
We found Chickpea Eatery just enough off the beaten track of the old town to be peaceful.
Read moreIt has a balanced menu with lots of traditional Vietnamese starters which you could eat tapas-style (bao buns, BBQ tempeh, etc). However, the mains and desserts are where they shine.
There are traditional mains like Hoi An noodles (very hard to find a vegan version) and Bun Chà; other Asian options like Wonton soup (I had this and it was to die for), and also Western/ Mexican options like a quesadilla, Alfredo pasta, or burger. I think even the fussiest eater would find something they’d like.
The desserts were limited in availability when we went, with only two of four in stock. However, the beetroot brownie in particular was maybe the best vegan brownie I have ever had: so moist and rich, just sweet enough.
They also do smoothies, smoothie bowls and golden milk here. It’s good to note they don’t add extra sugar to their juices like other establishments do.
What we loved most was their philosophy. They donate all their tips to charity, have cute vegan art everywhere, and have passages from Thich Nhat Hanh about mindful eating in the menus. This is a place to be totally present with delicious food and loved ones!
It is also comparable in prices to other top HappyCow establishments in the area. We paid 450k VND for two mains, two drinks, two desserts, and two smoothie bowls (for breakfast the next day!). The staff were also friendly and warm.
Pros: Delicious food , Vegan philosophy , Cute setting

Delicously Fresh Vegan Vietnamese Cusine - Edit
Absolutely loved each minute of this course and her guidance and use of each part of the banana and coconut plant and also the different herbal plants for health.
Read moreShe guided us and explained Vietnamese culture as well as how to use the ingredient as well as the technique to master the way we cook so we can replicate the recipes at home.
Was also inspired at their motivation to spread veganism and compassion for all beings on this planet.
I highly recommend this course to anyone who enjoys cooking their own meals as well as anyone who wants to eat fresh, simple
And healthy recipes.

Best vegan experience in Hoi An - Edit
My partner and I did the vegan cooking class with three others. The host, Thu, who is the funniest and loveliest person ever, led us through the markets teaching us all about different ingredients you can find in Vietnam and letting us try different fruits. Then we went back to make spring rolls, chicken and green mango salad and banh xeo. Each recipe has been passed down generationally, and we can see why they’ve been kept — they’re freaking delicious, using varied and fresh ingredients such as their homemade chickpea tempeh, jicama, herbs and mango. Each sister there was helping us perfect our technique, especially for the banh xeo. It was also really considerate for them to provide eco friendly takeaway containers because it is a lot of food and you want to be able to savour it!!! We also got sent the recipes we used via Whatsapp. Overall, so so grateful that we stumbled upon this cooking class, wish the best for all and we will definitely visit the other Chickpea Eatery in Danang. Another plus is that it’s all woman owned!!! Everyone seems to be genuinely close to eachother and very dedicated to the vegan message/lifestyle so very sweet to see :,)

also a note: a lot of tours you can feel pressured to buy from different sellers, Thu emphasises that this is optional before we head to the market, which is a big relief after other tours that can make you feel pressured to do so

MUST do in Hoi An - Edit
The vegan cooking class was such a fantastic experience which I can highly recommend. You get so many insights during the market tour and the class itself. Three authentic vegan dishes and so conveyed so much joy. The staff is absolutely lovely, caring and goes above and beyond to creat the best atmosphere for everyone! :)

Perfectly okay - Edit
The food was good and the service was okay, not quite sure the Bao buns lived up to the hype but they tasted nice.

Local and chill - Edit
You'd be lucky to stumble on this place if you didn't already know it was here. There's a little sign at the opening of the alley and down a short way you'll find a sweet and peaceful vegan eatery with a large and varied menu. There are also lots of drinks. And a local chicken - very cute. I'm looking forward to going back again to try some more items on the menu.

Tasty, and they have dessert!! - Edit
Really tasty Vietnamese food. And very exciting to have a slice of banana cake given how unusual it is to find decent vegan cake in Asia. Note they aren’t playing when they say the bao buns are small! 😂

Yummy food and GREAT cooking class - Edit
We had dinner here and also did the vegan cooking class! Both were great but I’d really really recommend doing the cooking class, it’s such a great day activity and you come away with so much food and knowledge about vegan Vietnamese food!
Read moreTo start with we went to the market and learnt all about the spices and flavours in Vietnamese food, then we went to the specific ‘chay’ (vegan) part of the market and saw all the amazing tofu and seitan, finally we went to the fruit and coconut stalls and tried loads of new fruits and coconut snacks. Honestly just the market tour was worth the money, but then we went back to chickpea and started cooking which was so much fun!
All the dishes we cooked were super achievable and delicious and the instruction from Norah was amazing and entertaining! We went home with so much food after already eating loads during the day. We also got a really detailed set of recipe to cook at home.
Honestly my favorite activity in Vietnam, 10/10! Thanks to everyone at Chickpea

Best vegan and cooking class in Vietnam - Edit
During our recent trip to Vietnam, we had the pleasure of dining at Chickpea Eatery in Hoi An, where we enjoyed exceptional vegan dishes such as bánh xèo, vegan bean and cheese quesadilla, and the vegan tempeh bánh mì sandwich.

Peaceful and inviting place down an alleyway - Edit
This place is located down an alleyway. When walking along this alleyway, it seems like you've gone down the wrong path, but then suddenly you find what you're looking for, an inviting place with windchimes, very peaceful and secluded, a vegan bubble. Whenever I went here, it was busy not only with people eating but also because of the cooking classes held here. The food is very good and seems similar to the food at other Chickpea Eateries eg the one in Da Nang.

Great option in Hội An old town area - Edit
Tucked away up an alley, Chickpea has a cozy, clean patio (which, depending when you're there, you might be sharing with a cooking class). A few vegan versions of local specialties are on the menu, along with more typical Vietnamese chay dashes, plus (probably unnecessarily) some Western items. Some dishes better than others; for example, the banana flower salad is recommended, while I found their cao lầu (a regional noodle dish of Hội An) to be just okay. Service is friendly and efficient.
