Cooking class is a must

Vegan cooking class was so much fun. Had rice paper rolls, a chicken salad (vegan) and vietnamese pancakes. The cooking class host Ha was a joy.

Local and chill

You'd be lucky to stumble on this place if you didn't already know it was here. There's a little sign at the opening of the alley and down a short way you'll find a sweet and peaceful vegan eatery with a large and varied menu. There are also lots of drinks. And a local chicken - very cute. I'm looking forward to going back again to try some more items on the menu.

Pros: Presentation, Flavour, Locals

Tasty, and they have dessert!!

Really tasty Vietnamese food. And very exciting to have a slice of banana cake given how unusual it is to find decent vegan cake in Asia. Note they aren’t playing when they say the bao buns are small! 😂

Super lecker!

Yummy food and GREAT cooking class

We had dinner here and also did the vegan cooking class! Both were great but I’d really really recommend doing the cooking class, it’s such a great day activity and you come away with so much food and knowledge about vegan Vietnamese food!

To start with we went to the market and learnt all about the spices and flavours in Vietnamese food, then we went to the specific ‘chay’ (vegan) part of the market and saw all the amazing tofu and seitan, finally we went to the fruit and coconut stalls and tried loads of new fruits and coconut snacks. Honestly just the market tour was worth the money, but then we went back to chickpea and started cooking which was so much fun!

All the dishes we cooked were super achievable and delicious and the instruction from Norah was amazing and entertaining! We went home with so much food after already eating loads during the day. We also got a really detailed set of recipe to cook at home.

Honestly my favorite activity in Vietnam, 10/10! Thanks to everyone at Chickpea

Cooking class is a great experience

The market tour and cooking class was great and would highly recommend anyone to do it!
Market tour was very informative, learning about local produce and getting to try some exotic fruits.
The class was good fun and we learnt a lot about Vietnamese cooking. All the staff were super helpful and not judging of skill level at all. We took away some recipes that we will use for a long time!
Thanks everyone!

Very recommended!

Food at Chickpea is always a hit! I already was a huge supporter of the Chickpea restaurant in Da Nang, so I couldn't skip this one. Lovely garden and terrace!

Check a full review on the Da Nang location. Summary: food is excellent. Try everything ;-)

Best vegan and cooking class in Vietnam

During our recent trip to Vietnam, we had the pleasure of dining at Chickpea Eatery in Hoi An, where we enjoyed exceptional vegan dishes such as bánh xèo, vegan bean and cheese quesadilla, and the vegan tempeh bánh mì sandwich.

The following day, we participated in their vegan cooking class, which turned out to be an unforgettable experience which we absolutely loved it.
Ha, our instructor, was warm, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience fun and hands-on. The staff were just as friendly and helpful.
We couldn’t have asked for a better place to learn Vietnamese vegan cooking.
Highly recommended! Top experience in Vietnam!!!

Pros: Banh xeo, Quesadillas, Tempeh sandwich

Peaceful and inviting place down an alleyway

This place is located down an alleyway. When walking along this alleyway, it seems like you've gone down the wrong path, but then suddenly you find what you're looking for, an inviting place with windchimes, very peaceful and secluded, a vegan bubble. Whenever I went here, it was busy not only with people eating but also because of the cooking classes held here. The food is very good and seems similar to the food at other Chickpea Eateries eg the one in Da Nang.

Great option in Hội An old town area

Tucked away up an alley, Chickpea has a cozy, clean patio (which, depending when you're there, you might be sharing with a cooking class). A few vegan versions of local specialties are on the menu, along with more typical Vietnamese chay dashes, plus (probably unnecessarily) some Western items. Some dishes better than others; for example, the banana flower salad is recommended, while I found their cao lầu (a regional noodle dish of Hội An) to be just okay. Service is friendly and efficient.

We loved the food here so much we spent our 1 night in Da Nang going to the sister restaurant (equally good). The bao buns, cao lau and desserts were all amazing.

vegan cooking class

The vegan cooking class was absolutely fantastic! Nora is an amazing person and teacher who truly made the experience unforgettable. Also the whole team from chickpea eatery is great. We started with a wonderful visit to the local market, which was so fascinating and informative. We learned a lot about the fresh ingredients and local products, which added even more excitement to the whole experience. The dishes chosen for the cooking session were incredibly delicious and cooking together was so much fun, and the time flew by far too quickly! We genuinely enjoyed every moment and will definitely take this class again when we return to Hoi An.

Incredible vegan cooking class

We had the most amazing (and delicious) time at the Chickpea Eatery vegan cooking class!!! It started with a wonderful market tour where we were given a lot of context on how the local community lives, and got to sample all these interesting fruits and snacks. Then, we embarked on our cooking adventure, making 3/4 Vietnamese dishes local to this region. They were all extremely delicious and so fun to make! The instructor was the sweetest, and the background information and instruction provided were top notch. This was one of our favorite things we did in all of Vietnam. Highly, highly recommend!!

100% plant-based perfection

A vegan gem in Hoi An! Chickpea Eatery’s award-winning burgers (PETA Asia-approved!) and fresh Vietnamese dishes like spring rolls and phở are bursting with flavor. Loved the cozy vibe and friendly staff. Bonus: They offer vegan cooking classes in Hoi An! Perfect for plant-based foodies or anyone craving creative, guilt-free meals. Don’t miss the “peaceful cuisine” philosophy—it shines in every bite.

Very tasty!

Very good food experience!
We ordered Cao Lâo (specific to the region of Hoi An), lemongrass tofu quinoia veggie plate, banana flower salad and bao buns

Pros: Cao Lâo, Bao buns

Cons: The music is annoying and repetitive.

This restaurant is located at back end of alley, but once you enter the yard of restaurant you will be pleased. It is very cozy and it serves good variety of vegan dishes. There were also some bakery goods sold there.
