There is a huge selection of vegan dishes. We tried the vegan duck in curry and in peanut sauce. Both very good! We really want to try more! And especially the homemade shakes were extremely good!

Decent Vietnamese food, completely veggie (even the duck!) - Edit
I heard about this restaurant and its famous vegan "duck" some time ago, and finally came to try it. It's decent, authentic Vietnamese food with tasty sauces, and the vegan "duck" and "chicken" are indeed astounding. The portions are quite big, too.

Hier gibt es zwei Karten, eine für Allesesser und eine vegan/vegetarische Karte. Die Beschreibung bzw Deklaration von Inhaltsstoffen und Allergenen könnte übersichtlicher sein. Service und Ambiente waren nicht gerade der Hammer, dafür hatten wir ein schnelles, preiswertes und sehr leckeres vietnamesisches Essen.

Super leckerer Vietnamese!!’ Die Portionen sind schön groß, das Preis-leistungsverhältnis stimmt absolut und man bekommt echt leckere und traditionelle vietnamesische Speisen. Es gibt eine Riesen Auswahl an veganen Gerichten und ein paar vegetarische. Fast alle beinhalten mock meat (was verblüffend echt und lecker schmeckt). Wer das nicht mag findet schwer ein Gericht ohne.

Everything here is super delicious, the curries are really awesome and the mock meat is the best I’ve ever tried. It’s always awesome service, huge portions, quick and super tasty.

Large vegan and vegetarian menu, as well as very friendly staff. The portions are big and the homemade baverages tasty. The food is on the greasy side and falvours are okay.
Read moreIf you do not like mock meat this is probably not the best place for you. (I thought I had found the one main dish on the menu without, but as it turned out I did not...) Can not vouch for its taste, because I am not the biggest fan of mock meat to begin with and gave it to someone else. Apart from that it is decent food.

Read moreDas Essen ist (für den Preis) sehr lecker und nach der Bestellung bekommt man auch recht zügig sein Essen. Besonders empfehlenswert ist die Erdnusssoße.
Manche Sachen kommen (teilweise auch tiefgekühlt) aus Vietnam, was nicht so ökologisch ist, allerdings überwiegt für mich der "vegane Aspekt" diesen kleinen Nachteil. Vieles wird aber eben auch frisch direkt in der Küche gemacht.
Man kann sich beim Koch alles wünschen was geht, er baut einem dann was leckeres zusammen. Die Karte ist aber gut zusammengestellt, sodass das eigentlich nicht nötig ist.
Sehr nettes Personal, allerdings mit wenig Deutsch- und kaum Englischkenntnissen.

Manchmal wird man als neuer Gast "übersehen", dann sollte man nett nachfragen. Ich glaube, die sind einfach manchmal verpeilt.
Hinweis: im Restaurant selbst gibts kein WLAN und kaum Handyempfang.
Warum 4 Sterne? Das Restaurant hat eher Bistrocharakter und die Bedienung übersieht einen manchmal. Das Ambiente ist auch eher dunkel und das Interieur etwas altbacken. Das Essen selbst bekommt aber 5/5 Preis-Leistungspunkte von mir.
Pros: es gibt eine eigene vegane Karte, Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, Nette Bedienung
Cons: Ambiente ist nicht so schön (sehr dunkel), Personal kann kaum Englisch und wenig Deutsch

Nice vietnamese restaurant - Edit
The Chay Viet is located in an alternative area ca. 20min from the Elbe. The interior was very cozy with a weird amount of old clocks and a TV that showed Vietnamese television. The staff was super nice and directly asked us if we are vegan, the menu offered a lot of vegan options. Ranging from vegan duck and chicken to even shrimps. The food was tasty and the price fair.

Chay Viet offers a vegetarian menu consisting of several dishes as pho, different mock meats or even vegan desserts.

The food was filling and the portions were quite large. One thing that surprised me is that they used seasonal vegetables instead of trying to use traditional out-of-season stuff. The dishes were quite tasty nonetheless.

Very nice original atmosphere and lovely staff working there. All shakes and lassis can be made vegan and there's an entire menue for vegans. Most dishes contain mock duck, mock chicken or shrimp, which is nice to try out. If you're looking for more healthy, fresh dishes you should maybe look for another place.

We started off with a little communication error wich ended up with us having the wrong starter, but we didn't mind it that much so we just ate the "shrimps" instead. The food however was ok, but I wouldn't say great, lots of mock meat if that's your thing. Judging on the other reviews they maybe just had a bad night, but I wasn't really convinced by it. Portions were big and they definitely had an authentic feel to the place though...

We went there after hiking in saxony switzerland and ordered one dish with vegan duck, one with tofu/wan tan and a fried (battered) shrimp dish. The vegan duck and the shrimp was amazing! It really tasted like real thing but in a pleasant way. The vegetable part of two main dishes were ok but tastes like typical "Asian (rather Chinese than Vietnamese)" restaurants in Europe and had a strong taste of bamboo shoots so if it's not your thing (like for me), it isn't very special. Also the wan tan dish was supposed to be with peanut sauce but I couldn't taste any peanut. Would go back again when we are in Dresden though and try ordering pho or a soup with wan tan (couldn't find it on the menu though) and the shrimp/duck again. The price is cheap, the portion is Huge and food came out quicker than we thought. Oh and they had a separate no-meat (vegetarian) menu!

passed this on a stroll through Dresden and came back rather late at night (11pm) after leaving a concert. we asked whether there was any chance we could still order food - and the owner(?) told us it'd be ok if we were alright with take-away. so glad we did - I haven't had proper wan-tan ever since turning vegetarian, I think. and these were oh so good!!
Read moreMy friend and I also had some veggie dish with mok chicken. ugh. insanely tasty! i never know how asian places do this, but it was incredibly convincing. the veggies were ok, I'm not a huge fan of bamboo as I always feel everything cooked with it tastes of it, but I'd definitely come back whenever back in this beautiful city!
Also, the location is amazing and a not-to-miss area in Dresden! I liked that there's seperated menu for veg/meat so you can be sure that you can actually choose anything and still be on the safe side ;)
