Good for me, good for you too

The food is definitely nutritious...i think i might like vegan junk food a bit too much to enjoy sweet less tea and a fixed menu. Overall salt and pepper helped a lot...but they do deserve all four stars for the value of their product and the awesome service we received. You do have to clean up after yourself( if you’re into that sort of thing at a restaurant 😅).

If you want junk food then go somewhere else. Don’t rate down a PERFECT restaurant because you are wanting a different restaurant...just go someplace else if this isn’t for you. Tea isn’t suppose to be sugary. That is not healthy and not the casa de luz way. Also, casa intentionally does that because it’s in their mission statement to build community and it’s not like you’re wiping down the table...you’re just carrying the dishes from point A to point B. Are people really this lazy that they’d rate down a business and cause it to do less well just because they’re that stuck up?

Reviews are opinions. We are all entitled to our own as long as they are honest. My truth and yours will vary. Yes, I’m feeling lazy if I’m going to a restaurant as opposed to cooking, that’s implied. I had never been to the place and, experiencing it is the only way I’d ever know that it’s not what I wanted (need maybe…two different things). Thanks! 😀

You may have missed the part where I said it was nutritious. It wasn’t my idea of delicious needing to add spices and not being able to finish the meal. I’d have given the 5th star if I wasn’t disappointed in that regard. Who gives 5 stars to a restaurant where they didn’t finish their meal, vegan or not? I want honesty in reviews, not modifying the truth to help a business. I’m sure you would value that too, trying out places that are not local to your residence.

Wonderful vegan find in a unique little community space!

Parking across the street for $1/hr. Fixed-price lunch for $14 which includes tea (hot and cold available), homemade soup of the day and freshly-dressed salad (this part is self-serve), and a full plate of entree-of-the-day brought to your table afterwards. All vegan, all fresh, no processed foods. They charge 50 cents for a to-go container, which I needed with the volume of food! Bus table yourself when done. This is a happening place and it was delicious! :)

This is incredible!! Amazing Macrobiotic food. YUM! Indoor seating too.

Walking to the restaurant is an experience in itself with little seating alcoves covered with greenery. I could eat here everyday for all 3 meals.

Pros: Super healthful, Buffet style, Small shop too

Cons: None really. , You bus your own plates, No waiter.

Amazing

I absolutely love Casa De Luz. They are such great people who make wholesome, fresh, non processed foods. All meals include: a soup, salad and entree. If you have extra time to spend, volunteer for a few hours and you get your meal for free!

This is where it’s at!

Hidden gem of Austin! If you need a healthy, tasty, home cooked meal - come here. Cafeteria style (but the main dish is brought to you while you eat your soup & salad). I’ll be stopping here again before my trip is over.

Pros: Not overpriced , Home style cooking , Community vibe

yummy

This was the best vegan restaurant I've ever ate at. I'm not a salad person, but it was very good. It's my first time in Austin, and I want to come back just to eat here! They have way more than just salad too.

Pros: Awesome food!

Cons: lighting is low

Favorite Spot in Austin

This is by far my favorite spot in Austin for many reasons:
1. It is the healthiest place you could pick
2. The food is great, the flavors are natural and not over bearing, there is an abundance of food which fills your energy and doesn't leave you hungry, and the food is natural and unprocessed.
3. The people that come here are high energy, high vibrational and you enjoy being around them. There are smiles and smiles and that's what I love.

This hidden gem is a cafeteria seating style eatery with ample outdoor seating, some shade and some indoor seating, and fresh food made daily. There are educational materials you can buy that help you undertstand the hippocrates teaching of health, in addition to fresh tea being served daily, and a yoga and meditation center. There is also a small jungle gym area hidden from the street for the children to play in safely.

This place was well designed, well thought out and is a perfect spot to bring some friends for some casual dining in Austin. And, you will leave feeling refreshed instead of full like many other restaurants make you.

Oh, and did I mention that this is the ONLY vegan restaurant in Austin that uses no oil in the food and little to no salt? All my raw vegans out there come enjoy this establishment with your friends.

Cheers!

Pros: Healthiest Vegan food in Austin, No oil / salt, Casual dining exp with ample outdoor seating, Meditation center, jungle gym for kids, protected

Solid Spot to eat downtown

This place provides some really great healthy meals at a great price. Taste was a bit bland for my liking but if you bring some hot sauce you’re all set. Overall worth checking out, and it supports a really great community of folks!

Healthy and Nourishing

I've been going to Casa for over 25 years. The food is consistent and healthy. I don't always love the options (soup), but I try it all. Salads are fresh and interesting. Try it, you might like it.

Pros: Vegan , Healthy

Cons: Parking can be an issue

Casa De Luz...healthy, delicious vegan food

Casa de Luz is a zen complex with an education center. Walk through the entrance and head straight to the large building in the back, that's the restaurant. The restaurant has a large open kitchen where you can see the food being prepared! I suggest going for breakfast, because they open early at 7 am and you can get super full on healthy food and have a great start to your day. Things to know about the casa: there is no menu, everything is vegan, there's one price, and it is serve yourself (although it's technically not an all-you-can eat buffet). This is what's served for breakfast: porridge with granola, cinnamon, and raisins, soup of the day, beans, sautéed vegetables, dark greens and handmade tortillas. Don't forget a cup or two of the wonderful hot tea that comes with the meal. Once you've made your plate, you'll sit down at large wooden communal tables inside or snag a single table outside if you want a private dining experience.

Pros: Inexpensive, Healthy, Convenient hours

Cons: Parking

One of the best in Austin

Absolutely love this restaurant. If you go at night the walking path is beautifully lit with string lights and you can always hear the wind chimes. You pay $12 a plate with unlimited soup and salad and then they bring out the main course which is always a glorious spread with so much color! They also limit oil use and have volunteering opportunities!

Relaxing atmosphere, good food

Everything is vegan. you get a fixed menu (dessert is extra). Average price but really like the setting, & enjoyed the food. Don't accidentally pass up the counter where you pay like I did

Pros: All vegan, no thinking about what to have (except

Cons: The procedure was a bit confusing

favorite place in Austin

I am also whole foods plant based (like the reviewer below), and Casa is one of the few places to eat out that I don't have to substitute or fret that someone used butter or whatever. Their food is always delicious. The ambiance, whether indoor or outdoor, is delightful. I've volunteered in the kitchen before and the chefs are awesome folks. I would give this place six stars if I could!

Pros: tasty, reasonable prices, good ambiance

Cons: parking can be iffy at times

My favorite restaurant

I follow a WFPB diet and this is my favorite place to eat. The people have always been kind and the food has always been healthful and tasty. On top of that the prices are incredibly low given the quality.

The only cons are that the location can be a challenge to get to and there is no choice of meal. However, I still give it 5 stars because I have loved every meal and it is worth the trouble to get to

Pros: healthy, tasty, vegan food, at a good price , pleasant atmosphere, kind peope

Cons: no menu , Austin traffic make it difficult to get to at time

Healthy food but not very tasty

Just in terms of finding this place, it is a bit off the street - you have to walk through school grounds to find the restaurant, which is at the back.

I wasn't hungry when we went there so I just ordered a dessert - it was a fruit jelly bowl, which was really nice and refreshing in the heat.

My partner ordered the set lunch, which comes with soup and salad, as well as plate full of a variety of things - beans, veggies etc. He was looking forward to this healthy food after eating a lot of the more junkie (though delicious!) vegan food in Austin. While it was nutritious whole foods, he didn't enjoy it much, as he found the food a bit cold and not very flavoursome. He also ordered a chocolate cheese cake for dessert, which was also quite flavourless.

Pros: Healthy, All vegan, Reasonably priced

Cons: Flavourless, Food wasn't hot

Great vegan choice

Casa de Luz is set up unusually - you getg a large bowl of soup and a plate of salad (self served) with your meal. The staff brings out the entree to you. They were very attentive. The food was well done - the soup was hearty kabocha squash, the salad was good. The entree was soft tacos, with sides of rice and beans, greens and pickled beets. Desserts in a case are extra, but worth trying. I had the pecan pie and flan - both very good. It was an appetizing and filling meal. The communal seating is not that different from a usual restaurant, especially when the place is not crowded. Parking is not an issue, there is plenty of metered parking nearby. This is a great and friendly place to go.

Pros: all vegan, great dessert selection

Great Healthy Option

Like most people posting I really like this place. They have a set meal every day that is always pretty healthy. The community seating may be off putting to some but I don't think it is a big deal. It is on the pricy side but you get what you paid for. It is a high quality, great tasting healthy meal.
