Beautiful, unique spot - Edit
I love this place to visit, it has a unique feeling, right next to the water with lots of repurposed old boats for seating, swinging chairs and, in the summer, swimming right off their dock. All the building materials and furniture are recycled or repurposed, which gives the place a kind of sold, lived-in feeling that really makes me feel comfortable. I can stay here all day long. The concept of the whole place is to make everything local and sustainable and they really work on that without greenwashing. The food is good, interesting and varied but it's too expensive for me. They do talk about how the more local and sustainable your produce is, the more expensive it is and that is ofc not their fault but the fault of the system they are trying to get around and they do work with the Stadspas to make it cheaper for lower-income people, which is great. This really is a place not to be missed if you're visiting Amsterdam and it's worth the trip over the river a hundred times over.

Restaurant by the water in Amsterdam North - Edit
If you are in this part of Amsterdam, this is a great place to come for a drink or a full meal. It's right by the water and has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the atmosphere is generally relaxed.

I love it here. - Edit
Everything here is lovely. The set up close to the water, the very friendly staff and the yummie food. It was our second time here and we enjoyed it again as much as the first time around. We had gazpacho, bread with mushrooms and pickled veggies, and lemony ravioli. Oh, and a slice of raw cake! We waited a bit for the mains, but hey: the place was super full (lunch on a summery saturday) so I wouldn't have expected it any differently. Also, the vibes are great so waiting isn't bad at all.
Read moreMy only advice, as someone who's a little more sensitive about noise: if you are as well, maybe don't sit under the bigger tent outside, go for the tables a little further from the center. The noise seems to accumulate the closer you are to the middle😄

Good vibes with regular food - Edit
The place has a good atmosphere and a great concept of sustainability behind. While the food is pricey, the quality is far away from matching the prices. The variety of dishes is limited as well.

Food was great but very busy - Edit
It was extremely busy when I went but we were served very fast even with the food. The prices were pretty high but not abnormal for Amsterdam.

Lovely space but mediocre food - Edit
The atmosphere here is really lovely, and everyone who works here is friendly and attentive. The hot chocolate is great, too! Sadly, the food is a bit disappointing, but it's not like there are many alternatives in the north.

Ceuvel - Edit
In the north part of Amsterdam in a distance area you will find cafe de Ceuvel, great for lunch and dinner and everything on the menu is plant based now. Great staff and the atmosphere is great inside and especially outside with nice weather.

Nice staff, pretty good food - Edit
We really enjoyed our time here. All food was nice except for the chocolate pasta (which was part of the surprise dish). Portions were big, and staff was funny and friendly. They're very aware of their social and environmental impact, which is nice. The only thing I didn't like was that they have a fire place which is bad for health and environment. Maybe even more so because at some point the whole venue was full of smoke. Although I'm sure that was not supposed to happen 😬😅

Very disappointed - Edit
This place doesn't scan the corona check QR code.
Read moreThey clearly had the 'freedom' approach ("you can scan your code if you want, but if you don't want to, you don't have to"), but the effect is that I had to sit outside in the cold and rain because I think these rules do make sense (and whether you like it or not, it's not a choice a restaurant can make). Not so free after all..
By the way, the place isn't even accessible for people in a wheelchair (and probably tons of other disabilities you can nót choose to have or not, this just immediately caught my eye); thát is discrimination.
I will not return; I might catch a cold, or Corona.

Lekker eten! - Edit
Genoeg keuze! Wij hadden het mezze platter voor twee personen. Lekkere smaken, maar niet erg uitgebreid of super bijzonder (bijv. Veel olijven, watermeloen). Wij hadden er met z’n tweeën niet genoeg aan, dat was wel jammer!

Fine vegan food - Edit
A place focused on changing the way we live, using locally produced food, durable houses, energy saving, energy collection, water recycling, you name it, they are actively involved and ahead of the crowd. Trying to find ways to become better in leaving the world cleaner, safer and more equitable than before they came in.
Read moreIt is located at an abandoned shipyard in a rapidly changing industrial area. Most of the various spaces in use are old ships on land.
Serving good food is certainly part of what they do. Locally produced, vegan, delicious. The only thing they have from animal origin is milk, cream and cocoa milk.
Last year De Ceuvel did serve animal food, yet this had a special purpose: these were "unwanted animals", e.g. geese shot at Amsterdam airport. Otherwise no animal food and even this is not around anymore.
Pros: excellent vegan food, nice location, relaxed
Cons: not cheap
