New Fave Ramen in SD!

My husband and I haven't tried to get ramen (we've had nearly every vegan ramen in SD) since we came back from our two week Japan trip mid May, assuming we were ruined and nothing in SD could compare. Well, today, Buta changed that!

First, the service was just as friendly and sweet. To start we had the fried potstickers which were ok. Wish they were bigger and had more filling. It did come w chili crisp on the side. Otherwise, the ramen more than made up for it. There are 3 choices of ramen: shoyu, coconut miso, and curry ramen. We got the curry ramen w crispy mock duck. The noodles were similar to how we had it in Japan: chewy and pillowy, like it was made in house. And the broth was oh-so creamy and made even better w the chili crisp. They gave a generous portion of mock duck; I was so stuffed, I couldn't finish the small rest of my ramen. I loved that the duck was crispy. I'd prefer it to stay crispy but it gets chewy and soft when soaked in the broth. I only wish there was some bok choy or other complementary veggie besides the green onions. We'll definitely be back!

Edit: The shoyu ramen w mock duck is so good, too!

Multiple vegan ramen choices

Three vegan ramen options and a clearly marked menu. This is the kind of spot that makes everyone happy.

Came here with two meet eaters and we all left satisfied. Asked the server what the most popular vegan ramen option was and he said the Golden Curry with mock duck was the way to go. He was 100% right.

The broth was both flavorful and creamy and complemented the mock duck's saltiness. I got mine medium spicy and added just a touch of chili spice to make it perfect.

Would definitely return.

New Favorite

The food was perfect. Everyone was very cordial & friendly. It was a very welcoming atmosphere. My 4 yr old loved it as well, had kids noodles with a splash of my husband's broth (the non spicy of ours), & a couple toppings. I had the golden curry ramen with steamed tofu & it was so flavorful and creamy. Really good spice & they provided a slice of lemon to round it out with some acid. So good. My mom had the vegan ramen & enjoyed it as well. Gyoza & edamame are hard to go wrong with, bonus for how piping hot the gyoza was though. I love food that is really hot. Will definitely be back, new favorite ramen for sure.

Pros: Balanced flavors, great food, Hot/Fresh food, Welcoming atmosphere

Cons: Nothing , Parking lot can be busy

Two Times in a Week

We came here two times in one week. It is unusual for us, especially since my wife is very picky about new places.
I had the same dish as my wife.

Edit: We come here often. This is my favorite vegan options place in San Diego. I got two orders to go one day and ate them in the van during my wife's lunch break. I also eat it when my wife goes out with her work friends.

Amazing vegan ramen!

This place serves meat but it has 3 vegan ramen options, which is way more than I’m used to for Omni ramen restaurants. I tried the curry ramen with mock duck and it was absolutely delicious. I was very pleasantly surprised. Very flavorful and well rounded. The mock duck had the right amount of crunch and chewiness and it was very well seasoned. The broth was delicious. My Omni husband tried mine and his reaction was “oh wow.” He called it amazing, which is saying a lot for someone who thinks vegan food sometimes lacks flavor and depth (boo!). We’re visiting SD for a few days, and we stopped by on our way back to the hotel from LEGOLAND. We got it to go, so I can’t speak for the sit down experience. Staff were nice and the wait was short. We loved this place so much, we will be returning before we go home. Highly recommend!

Edit: came back and tried a few other things.. all amazing! But the golden curry ramen remains my absolute favorite. Highly recommend!

Solid Vegan Options

Though they have managed to make their menu more confusing to figure out what is vegan, the vegan options here are solid. Plus they are the only ones who do mock duck in ramen.

Good but salty

Had the shoyun ramen with mock duck and the vegan ramen here. Both were good but the shoyun was a bit salty and There was too much of the mock duck, I would have preferred more veggies.

Pros: Multiple vegan options, Knowledgeable and helpful staff

Cons: Salty
