Food didn't meet our high expectations - Edit
We had a nice dinner at Botanica Lab but perhaps our expectations were too high as the prices were a bit higher and they presented their food as fusion on their website. The meals that we had did not really stand out but I guess there's nothing to go wrong with the buddha bowl we had. Baked potatoes were not very fresh, tasted like they had been made a day before and just heated up. My favourite italian dish: Melanzane parmiggiana were kind of dry and had very little tomato sauce. I have been making them at home in vegan version for years and with my fiancé we agreed that mine were better 😅. I would probably go again for the desserts. Both fruit cheesecake and masarponcino were outstanding! 💜

Pros: excellent desserts, nice vibe of a tiny street off the beaten track, gluten free friendly
Cons: meals not so tasty and definitely not fusion

Insomma molto preparati!

Fine Dining - Edit
This is indeed a vegan fine dining Restaurant not far from Piazza Maggiore in the very centre of Bologna.
Read moreThe Design is quite stylish.
The staff was friendly, helpful and spoke english.
There was a small complimentary Soup (black lentils) in the Beginning which tasted really Good and was rich and creamy.
I had Ravioli with 'Ricotta', Cashew and Black Truffle in Olive Oil and Sage as well as a Chocolate Cheesecake.
The presentation was nice and it tasted Great.
The Portions were not big but filling enough and I left Happy, nourished and satisfied.
It is a little pricey to be honest- but the atmosphere and food are worth it.
Pros: Unusual, Creative, delicious Dishes, Fine Dining Atmosphere, Friendly english speaking Staff
Cons: A little Pricey

Awesome vegan Italian food - Edit
I only had time to come here once, so I tried a few things. Homemade pasta was great as a starter, then parmigiana as a second plate and a nice dessert. Cheesecake with either chocolate or fruits. I had the chocolate one, which I loved.

Luxurious vegan place - Edit
This place really caught our attention when we were searching for vegan restaurants in Bologna. The space was really well decorated, the atmosphere was calm although it was completely full and the staff was very attentive. We understood Italian reasonably well but it would've been easier if there was an English version of the menu.
Read moreOur order took a really long time but we totally understood it, that's what full house means, and couldn't be happier with our choices. Everyone was delighted even the non vegans but I have to admit that the real stars were definitely the desserts. Best chocolate mousse and cashew cheesecake ever!

Nice terrace and nice food! - Edit
As a Belgian, I was pleased to find a person who speaks french in the staff. They were very nice. The food was really good, the place really nice too: the terrace is in the shade, pretty and comfy furniture (details but still), full of plants...
Read moreI agree with certain comments: I eat very spicy and I think the dishes deserved more salt at least.
You can see that they do everything homemade, cheeses to dried vegetables.
The only thing that was sad is that the plate of vegetal cheeses was only macadamia based and then tasted relatively the same.
Quantities were OK too!
I recommend it.
Pros: Nice place, everything vegan
Cons: Cheeses homemade but similar

Good restaurant for vegan italian dinner - Edit
Very authentic vegan Italian food with fresh selfmade pasta. Everything we tried was really delicious but there could be more spices in everything. Staff is very friendly and price is also appropriate.

Tastes like earth - Edit
I was so excited to try this place. Got the train an hour for a dinner date here. Everything tastes like meat eaters thinks vegan food tastes like. The Buddha bowl was just a bunch of boiled vegetables. Some things tasted Indian and there was a flavourless hummus on there. I am not a picky eater but I didn’t finish it. Nothing has any flavour. The summer rolls were slightly better with way too much red cabbage and no flavour. Would not recommend

Good food and nice atmosphere - Edit
A friend of mine and I enjoyed nice and authentic Italian pasta and - a gnocchi dish. The dishes are very tasty - creamy vegan pasta sauce and home made pasta! It is true that the portions are quite small, but not smaller than in non-vegan restaurants. For me, it was filling for lunch!
Read moreWe also enjoyed dessert. We tried the cheesecake (they serve chocolate or red fruit) and the chocolate-avocado pudding. Both was very (!) delicious, but the pudding was truly amazing :)
The coffee is really delicious, too!
Pros: Entirely vegan, Central location , Fresh and home made pasta
Cons: Tables quite small, Portions a bit small

Small portions and expensive - Edit
This is a very nice restaurant, but wasn't really to our taste. It's very much 'gourmet' style vegan food with very small portions and a fairly hefty price tag. We ordered the 'squares' as a main course and it was essentially some slivers of vegetables (similar to crisps I suppose) with some cream / foam and a small amount of salad. It was certainly not filling and I wouldn't personally describe it as suitable to be a main course.
Read moreHowever the staff are lovely and the wines and beers are very nice. The location is also good, its tucked away off the main square (that might go some way to explaining the higher prices).
For a special occasion or if you want to experience fine dining done vegan style then this is probably right up your street, but if you're on a budget or have a decent appetite I'd give it a miss.
Pros: Nice staff, Lovely interior, Good location
Cons: The smallest portions I've ever seen, Expensive

Kitchen theatre - Edit
What I really liked about this place, apart from the exceptionally nice food and nice interior, is the open kitchen where you can see what the chefs are doing.
Read moreI started with a complimentary lentil and corvette soup, then I had a nice buckwheat tart with caramelised onions and plums, on a bed of lentil cream. The next dish was delicate and balanced, made up with chickpea flour crepes with parsnip cream and topped with crunchy kale.
As a dessert I went for a three-layered raw cheesecake, with a base of crushed pistachios, a layer of chocolate cream and topped with frozen pear purée. Maybe a bit too cold on the first bite, but the taste improved as long as I ate it and my palate got used to the three different textures.
Portions were okay, neither too big nor too small. Knowledgeable staff and quick service were a plus. Highly recommended.

Excellent but overpriced - Edit
Choose this restaurant if you want to explore the possibilities of the vegan kitchen. The dishes are excellent, with interesting components, and arranged creatively. A great place for a celebration.
Read moreThe downside is the price, really. Sure, I do understand that quality and setting won't come for free, but this seems overpriced, thus one star less. 14 Euro for what actually is a starter is way too much. I've spent 40 Euro only for myself, and I left still a little hungry. But everything was both interesting and tasty! 😊
Pros: Excellent food, Celebrate here!
Cons: Very, very expensive

Decadent vegan Bolognese café - Edit
An amazing vegan place to enjoy healthy and (very) decadent cuisine. The Buddha Bowl and the Insalata Botanica that we shared with my friend were colorful and very tasty. They also have a whole range of italian inspired (vegan) and sweet and wonderful desserts and bites to enjoy. The menu evolves depending upon the team's experiments and therefore is always improved. The team is really friendly and eager to share its passion for vegan cuisine.
