I was so looking forward to some vegan ice cream. There were only 5 vegan flavors listed at the register. Unfortunately, the flavor I asked for was available non-vegan as well. The only reason I didn’t accidentally eat it was because the person ordering after us asked for the vegan version and the staff said they were out. I then had to choose a different flavor and have them remake my ice cream. I had wanted the Oreo coffee but settled for the raspberry. It was not great. Weird texture and tasted very artificial, almost powdery consistency.
They had a good selection of vegan flavors, and they frequently rotate flavors, so you can always try something new. The vegan aye aye captain (capn crunch cereal milk flavor) was very good, and I also have enjoyed their espresso oreo flavor. All of their ice creams are made with coconut milk, and some do have a strong coconut flavor, so if you don’t like coconut or have an allergy, those might not be for you. However, they do also have vegan dole whips that are dairy free because they do not use milk of any kind. This is definitely my go to spot for vegan ice cream.
I have gone here for fun when I’m in the Patterson Park area, though I have yet to leave feeling completely delighted with the flavors. Options like Captain Crunch and Cotton Candy (I believe that’s what it was called) have been fun to try, yet not something I’d go out of my way for. Additionally, some of their vegan options have a strange consistency to them, like the consistency of soaked chia seeds mixed with flour.
This is another location of the local Bmore Licks franchise, located in Federal Hill so near Cross Street Market, stadiums, etc. The day I went there were 4 vegan flavors listed prominently on their sandwich board, of these 3 were available. I ordered the mint chocolate chip. It was definitely minty and chippy enough, the texture was a bit of an odd taffy-like experience but OK. Nice to have a local place where I know I can have a few options for a hot summer's day treat.
