Good

Good food. Limited range. Vegan sausages in big breakfast were average. I would like avocado or some facon over beans in big breakfasts. Soy chai was nice. Service was good. One person working. No delay.

Average At Best

Painfully slow service, wish i didn’t have to give a vegan place such a low rating but i have to be honest. Coffees very average and muffin was just ok.

Loved it!

We visited a couple of weeks ago and loved the food, the service and the atmosphere.

The food was tasty and well presented. I had the waffles, my friend had the berry smoothie bowl. We both left feeling full, content and happy with our choice to eat at Barefoot. We will be back.

Pros: Great location, Variety, Beautiful presentation

Unfortunately nothing special

I hate not giving 5*, but during our quest to try all four 100% vegan spots in Christchurch, this one was unfortunately by far the most mediocre experience, while at the same time being the priciest one. We had a flat white, which was not up to NZ standards, the ceremonial chocolate was watery and tasteless, same as the big brekky and the waffles were dry.
This place has great potential and the location is super cool, but it has to step up its quality if it wants to stand a chance against the other three great all vegan spots in the city.
Nevertheless, I will give this place 5* on google maps, as I believe in supporting vegan places on platforms were non vegan people look for places to eat. On happy cow however I wanna give my fellow vegans a 100% honest review.

Pros: Cool location

Cons: Pricey, Mediocre food and drinks

It was okay

I wasn’t super impressed, the woman was ho servers me seemed like I was irritating her by being there. Menu is small. The seating area was quite dirty and it took a surprising amount of time for my food to be delivered.

Not the best experience

Went down for brunch. They’d run out of scrambled tofu and porridge which ruled out about 50% of the menu. The chai was weak. Buckwheat waffles were tasty as was the protein smoothie. Prob wouldn’t go back.

Used to be my favourite

Used to be my favourite place. I didn't mind paying overs for a Buddha Bowl here because I knew it was high quality and would fill me up. That's no longer the case, though it's still expensive.

Last time we were here, we waited almost one hour for food, without any warning there would be a wait. This is totally unacceptable, as we were hoping for a quick bite as well had [censored] to do.

Pros: Vegan

Cons: Slow service, Expensive, Mediocre quality

Set in The Welder, Christchurch’s well-being urban oasis, this cute vegan eatery provided a substantial breakfast before hitting Hagley Oval for the cricket. We had scrambled tofu on sourdough and a ‘Big Breakfast’ which consisted of a scrambled tofu and homemade beans both on sourdough with homemade sausages and salad. The house coffee is superb and the setting inside the Welder complex is perfect where you are surrounded by like minded enterprises and people. Everything is made In house and freshly prepared from organic ingredients so expect to pay a little more than the norm. Definitely worth it though.

Pros: Good menu , Setting

Cons: A little expensive

Beautiful Food & Cool Venue

I love the funky vibes that this place has, plus being fully vegan gives major brownie points.

I had the waffles and they were beautifully presented, and delicious.

You can find a space to eat in the cool share space in the venue.

Pros: Friendly staff, Presentation

Not too bad

I went there thinking I would eat at a restaurant, but it was a food court so a little disappointed. The food is very good but it’s a bit expensive for the quantities.

Pros: Very good food, Close to town

Cons: More a « on the go » meal than a restaurant

Not quite living up to potential

Good food and friendly staff, though it's a shame service is so slow. Things are better than last time I came here, but I still miss the five-star previous owners 😭.

So-so

Sat here with family for brunch. Scrambled tofu toastie was good. Moroccan chickpea and cuscous salad was tasteless and overly hot at the same time. Smashed chickpea sammie had a great filling but ciabatta was oily and rock hard - barely edible.

Good vibes and good food

Really nice location surrounded by other restaurants. There were so many options, and we were impressed by the food. The nachos weren’t as big as we were hoping, but still yummy.

Great place with gluten free options

First place we stopped at in Christchurch, really good breakfast, pancakes and their big breakfast option. Very tasty; one of us is Celiac & they were happy to account for that.
Very chilled place with a lot of indoor seating.

Pros: Indoor seating, Celiac aware, Tasty

Amazing food and great staff

Really enjoyed the toasties, both the mushroom one and chickpea ‘tuna’ are amazing and filling! The waffles are great too. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area.

Tasty breakfast waffles

Came for breakfast on our first morning in Christchurch; I had the waffles and my partner the smoothie bowl and we both thoroughly enjoyed! Healthy, tasty, freshly made food by lovely staff. Coffees were tasty too, and it was great to have a selection of plant milks to choose from. Giving four stars as the food was a wee bit expensive, but definitely worth a visit for a treat!

Awesome cheesecake

Really cute place in Christchurch!
We stopped by to get some treats for breakfast and got some really delicious food. We had the waffles as well as a slice of a strawberry cheesecake and a carrot cake. Everything was super fresh and you could really taste the healthy ingredients. Big recommendation!

Pros: Completely vegan , Incredible cakes

Delicious, Nutritious and all Vegan

I keep coming back for more from Barefoot Eatery. I have loved all the food/drink I have ordered. So far I have enjoyed a smoothie, smoothie bowl, waffles, lasagna, salads and mochas with different plant mylks. Staff are friendly and helpful, I love the menu and it’s an enjoyable spot to sit down and eat. Sometimes service can be a bit slow when there are lots of customers, which is understandable given there’s limited space and therefore just a few staff working at a time.

Waffles Galore

If you are going for anything, go for the waffles. Barefoot Eatery is completely plant based and stocked full of delicious meals. It is also refined sugar free and gluten free. The buckwheat waffles are the highlight of the menu and the ultimate gals brunch dish. The housemade nutella is a must have addition. The macadamia milk is nice with the mochas. Great to see lots of alternative milk options on the menu. They also do takeaways if you want to eat on the run. Sometimes they do half price on their juices as well if they are close to expiry.

Pros: Gluten free options, Lovely location

Cons: No parking, Tad expensive

Good vegan food and treats

Great to have an all-vegan eatery in The Welder! I’ve enjoyed, so far, the half waffle with lots of fresh fruit, a hazelnut slice, a combination takeaway bowl of various dishes (slaw, hummus, falafel, rice, sweet potato, etc), the Barefoot Burger and the Bounty Bar.
I think the prices are reasonable.
Pleasant staff. Pleasant venue.
