The restaurant lies very comfortably in a backyard of the ancient Split. The food came quickly and was very good. Staff was very friendly😄

Stunning! - Edit
Wow we loved Barakokula and I highly recommend visiting!
Read moreFirstly it’s in such a cute location that is kind of sheltered meaning it’s a little cooler from just the main streets.
The staff were really friendly and helpful and service was really quick.
To start we shared the SO’ PARNIK which is a traditional starter. It was almost like a dumpling/pastry dough filled with Swiss chard, spring onions and garlic. It was incredible and the filling was so lovely!
Then for mains I got the truffle pasta and if you try anything, you need to try this. The sauce was so rich and creamy and went so perfect with the pasta shape as well as the bits of mushroom. The cheese crumbles on top were also stunning!
My partner got the sexy tofu which was also delicious. It was on top of sweet potato puree which was a really good combo especially as the tofu sauce was a little sweet.
I couldn’t recommend this place enough!
Pros: Amazing vegan food, Friendly staff, Great location

Pricey but great food - Edit
Ate here twice in June 2024 and the food is absolutely delicious although quite expensive. The “Sexy Tofu” was the highlight out of what we tried but couldn’t fault any of the food. The Yin Yang sweet potatoes were lovely, as was the mushroom gnocchi. Really nice desserts too. The service was a little iffy sometimes but nothing too awful. The location is nice and tucked away in a covered arcade so although very central it’s still nice and quiet.

Quite expensive but extremely well done - Edit
The food we had was amazing. Unfortunately we are not sure if the gluten free labeling can be trusted, because the homemade bread is marked with it and it feels unlikely it's gluten free.
Read moreThe buffalo wings were mainly a salad sadly. We didn't think so when ordering and were a bit disappointed. The title "salad and buffalo wings" would have been better. The wings though: amazing!
Furthermore we had the sushi. Which unfortunately is named Geisha roll, which is a name to be reconsidered as it is exoticzing, so a bit problematic. It was really delicious though, the roll a bit big to eat in one bite.
Over all really nice, would come back. But expensive! :)

Good - Edit
The vegan burger was good, featuring a tasty patty and fresh toppings, though it wasn't particularly remarkable. The pasta dish, on the other hand, needed a bit more salt and creaminess to truly stand out. Also, the iced matcha was disappointing, you might consider trying another drink option! For the expensive prices, I would have hoped for better taste and more refined dishes. Despite these minor issues, the service was friendly and the overall experience enjoyable.

This is a cute all vegan restaurant in the heart of split.

Sehr gutes Essen - Edit

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Barakokula. There were 3-5 options per course. We had the Tapas and So'parnik for starter, followed by homemade Truffle pasta and Sexy Tofu for mains. All four dishes were fantastic and we had no room for pudding! Also a very fresh lemonade and a lovely cocktail

Tucked away but worth finding - Edit
Apple Maps took us to the right spot but I walked straight past as it is tucked in a tiny courtyard between shops.
Read moreI shared the creamy truffle pasta and the sweet potato dish with my wife. We both really enjoyed the two dishes. Portions were the right size. I then had the almond something for dessert. That too was tasty. Really liked this place as the food and service were excellent.
Pros: Good food, Good service
Cons: Dessert would have been better with dessert fork, Hard to find. Apple Maps got us there

Good vegan restaurant - Edit
Chose the Geiza - it is 6 rolls but they are big rolls (probably equivalent of 12 Yo Sushi rolls). Tofu dish also good. Tasty. Enjoyable evening. Staff very nice.

Would not recommend - Edit
Unfortunately this spot was a definite miss even though it was all vegan. I ordered the sweet potato dish for lunch. The flavors did not work well together and the portion size was quite small. At €21 this was the most expensive dish I ordered in Split, but it was by far my least favorite. My partner ordered the burger, which he enjoyed well enough, although there are definitely better vegan burgers in Split. The chips that came with the burger were limp and the coleslaw had far too much mayo to be enjoyable.
