Bao at Optimist Hall - Edit
Optimist Hall excelles with snackable options in a close, walkable setting and restaurants like Bao and Broth cement that draw.
Read moreThere are only a few bao options at Bao and Broth but the options they have carry a lot. The tofu and the jackfruit bao provide tasty, bite-sized snacks that each skew differently enough to warrant a taste from both of them. The tofu is crispy on the outside with sweet and sour sauce and soft on the inside. In other situations this rawness would bother me, but the breading and sauce carry it enough to make it enjoyable.
The jackfruit was the closest to an East Carolina BBQ style that I’ve had in Charlotte in that it is light in color and heavy on the vinegar, rather than the katsup. It was my personal favorite of the two.
Bao and Broth is a great option to pick up some accruements while visiting Optimist Hall for the plant-based connoisseur.

Tasty Vegan Options - Edit
Vegan options are easy to identify on the menu, and the buns are perfect for when you want to eat a little something, but you're not ready for a big meal. I tried the BBQ jackfruit and the Thai tofu. Both were delicious, but the BBQ had a bit more flavor.

I ordered online to skip the line, which was insanely long. They got my order out quickly and Everything was package nicely and the directions were followed perfectly. We tried one of every vegan option. The ramen broth was delicious, we wished the noodles sucked in more flavor, and that the veggies were a bit smaller so they can be eaten more easily. The bun was fantastic. The fries were surprisingly nice, though we did not enjoy the sauce.

Great ramen and bao! - Edit
This place is located in Optimist Hall. They take good care of the preparation and packaging. My vegan ramen came in a large bowl with noodles and veggies and the broth came separately which was great because the vegetables were nice and crunchy. The crispy tofu was also separately. The vegan bao was delicious with a soft and tender bun.
