Not Just for the Station: A Must-Visit in Basel - Edit
Bakery Bakery in Basel is an absolute gem. I went there on a friend’s recommendation to try their cheese quiche, and wow! 🤩 worth the trip alone! Creamy, rich, and perfectly baked, it honestly stole the show.

🥐 Chocolate croissant – packed with a lot of chocolate sauce, indulgent and delicious.
🥨 Pretzel croissant – a fun twist, soft inside with that savoury touch. Freshly baked!
🍩 Cinnamon roll – generous filling, sweet, sticky, and superb.
🥪 Schnitzel sub – with a fresh, lovely salad filling that balanced it perfectly.
The bakery itself is tucked away on the first floor (just head up the escalators).
It’s Switzerland, so don’t expect it to be cheap, but everything I tried was worth every franc. If you’re in Basel, don’t miss it.

It's so awesome to be able to grab a quick bite at a train station - whci usually is just way too hard. Here, one has an amazing selection of vegan baked goods / snacks. And not only sweet ones, but also savory options!! Absolutely love it.

Superb Vegan Bakery - Edit
This branch of Bakery Bakery is in the train station. We ordered from the takeaway window, but there was an additional counter and seating for dining in. It had the same baked goods as other branches we visited in Zurich and Bern. Here's what we tried.
Read moreLauch speck strudel: it had too much leek and not enough speck (ham?) for my liking. The pastry was nice though.
Cheese tart: this is one of the best things I've ever eaten. The pastry was rich, crisp, and crumbly. The filling was delicious, really creamy and cheesy. It felt like a really high quality vegan cheese. Absolutely divine.
Cinnamon snail: the cinnamon flavour and filling was really nice, a bit nutty, very sticky. The pastry was nice, but note that this is a snail that is more like a pastry than a bread.
Chocoggigipfel: this croissant filled with chocolate was more bready than pastry. The chocolate cream inside was absolutely delicious, really rich and thick. It was very tasty.

Such a fabulous range of delicious breakfast baked goods, prettily served. Pleasant and clean premises, super convenient at the SBB station. Very reasonable prices. Got my take away lunches here too and there are snacks and drinks to onboard if you’re a travelling vegan. If you live here, lucky you!

Read moreDie Preise sind nicht ohne. Mehr als 10 CHF für ein Sandwich. Wir haben einen Erdbeer-Rabaraber-Donut und ein Stück Beerentorte vom Vortag genommen und daher nur den halben Preis bezahlt. Damit waren die Preise dann okay. Die Sachen waren beide sehr fruchtig, allerdings auch total überzuckert.
Pros: Bekenntnis zu den Rechten queerer Menschen, 100% veganer Laden

Quick service and delicious “lox” bagel. Luckily my train was delayed so I was able to get something quickly. Really good vegan options - sandwiches, bagels, croissants, etc. Highly recommend.

Thanks to Happy Cow for pointing me to this place. It doesn’t proclaim its veganism loudly, but the food is pretty delicious. Small-ish selection but a wonderful vegan oasis after a long journey. Lox bagel was top notch.

Ich bin Stammkundin dieser Bäckerei, aber normalerweise besuche ich die Filiale in Zürich. Dieses Mal war ich zum ersten Mal in der Filiale in Basel - und es hat mir sehr gut gefallen! Es war sehr lecker, und geschmacklich absolut identisch mit dem, was ich aus Zürich kenne - kein Unterschied.

I had super early mornings in Basel and this was the only place I found that opened at 7am at least. Decent coffee and out of the foods I tried, I liked the lox bagel the most.

Obviously there's a great vegan selection and I like their stuff, but I've had slightly better sandwiches elsewhere. If you're a train nerd, this is your place since you have an excellent view of the tracks below in their seating area. And they now also offer packaged all vegan Nanimale ice cream, including plant milk versions.

A bit on the pricey side, but they have lots of great stuff. All kinds of savoury rolls and croissants, donuts, Berliners, cakes, and they also have a fridge with things like vegan cheese and other items. Recommended!

Bakery bakery is located in the station SBB in Basel, were you can get something to go but it’s also possible to eat in their nice sitting area. They offer sandwiches, sweet and savoury pastries, hot and cold drinks and some breakfast items like Bircher Müsli. Everything is vegan.

The coffee was really good and there are lots of vegan pastries and some sandwiches to choose from. It’s at the station, but nevertheless you can sit nicely inside. It’s a shame there aren’t more like these coffee/pastries shops in the historical centrum!
