I was looking for a vegan only place to eat in Rotterdam and found Backyard. That place didn’t disappoint. Breakfast options are very good (there will be more than your avocado toast and oatmeal). Loved the kimichi toast and the Korean loaded fries.

Zo fijn dat alles op de kaart plantaardig is. We hadden brood met kroket, de tosti en broodje gegrilde groenten. Was alle 3 erg lekker. Leuke toevoeging; op de schommel eten. Erg leuk als je met kinderen bent.

The food is plantbased 🌱 and beside of very nice lunch dishes they also have options for breakfast and dinner. The prices for the breakfast are good, but for lunch and dinner, it's getting a bit more expensive (I'm saying that because the app showed only one dollar sign). Also, I love the sitting area inside. It's also quite big!

Great vegan cafe/restaurant - Edit
We ate here twice while staying in Rotterdam recently and really enjoyed both meals. The waiting staff are super friendly and polite, the food was delicious, and there is great choice. All the food is vegan, we had burgers, soup, and a mediterranen salad, all very tasty. Would defonreturn if we are very in Rotterdam again.

Had a really nice breakfast here (Smoked non-salmon toast) and really enjoyed it. The menu options aren't the most innovative (kimchi or avocado toast is the go-to vegan option nowadays in non-vegan lunch places), but it was well done. Coffee was really good in my opinion.

Food was fantastic, service was friendly as always. Menu is in English and most staff only speak English. Price is unbeatable for the location and quality! Ambiance is also very cozy
Read moreOnly tip I have: If you take a coffee latte, use soy or oat milk. The almond milk is too watery to actually enjoy the coffee. Also, if you ask a syrup for the coffee, they often put too much in it.

It is marked as vegan restaurant but they serve cow milk upon request, a bit disappointed to see it from a plant based restaurant. There are many options to choose for breakfast and lunch! Personally I do not find the breakfast options quite nice, as they might be a bit overpriced for a simple bread/sandwich; however I liked the lunch menu. Especially the asian bowl, with spice level, sauce, and fried spring rolls was delicious. The location is super close to the city center and the metro. The place itself has a really authentic atmosphere. The seating area is quite big, good for working as well with a cup of coffe or so. Would like to come back several times to check the other food as well.

It's a good sized place and no problems getting a table on a Saturday afternoon. Downstairs is table service, upstairs seating you need to order at the bar. Toilets are downstairs (not well signposted).
Read moreLots of their tasty things aren't available until after 5.30pm, and it's not the cheapest- 16 euro for loaded fries that could have done with more fries but it was a delicious dish. My OH and I shared those and some Dutch vegan bitterballen. I haven't googled what that is yet, but it said it was Dutch so wanted to try something I'd not had before! Good alcoholic drinks selection. Food arrived fairly quickly.

Came here on travels, nice selection of asian-fusion burgers and loaded fries. Mostly vegan. Little bit pricey and only have sweet potato fries and no regular fries. Super tasty and staff were nice.

Read moreWe had the kimchi seitan burger and the 'humshuka' (hummus and shakshuka). Great flavors and presentation. Our son had the bananabread with salted caramel, was well-pleased, while sitting on a swing at the table! Like I said: "I'll be back" for more!
