Bit disappointing - Edit
I was really excited to visit based on the reviews and look of the menu, but ended up being really underwhelmed. I had the mac daddy, and the burger patty was really dense, while the mac n cheese topping was cold, claggy and flavourless. The chips were nice, but the little bit of greens on the plate were covered in oil. The bun was good though!
Read moreMy partner had the mushroom burger with buffalo sauce and his burger was much nicer than the one I had.
Perhaps they just had an off day, but I don't think I'd choose to go back again based on this experience.

Had an amazing chick*n burger with loaded fries. It was quite a bit spicier than what I expected, but still incredible! I had it with the hot buffalo sauce.

There was an amazing range of options and we ended up ordering a few dishes buffet style! The danger with that and the great beer is overindulgence (in my case anyway). I would highly recommend it as a great night out!

Disoriented - Edit
I recommend to not follow Google maps in order to find this restaurant. The restaurant is situated inside of the pub, or, is the menu of the pub (?) I was confused as I walked past it multiple times, but did eventually realise that it was the place. I found the prices a wee bit expensive, but it didn't stop me from buying a drink too. I believe the drink had more ice than actually drink inside of it, but it was good as long as it lasted. The food was nice, but a bit overpriced I think.

Been here a good few times and absolutely love their Kentucky wings! Everything is so tasteful and always the best service. Would also recommend their ‘Mac n Cheese’, Garlic Parmesan chick’n and just generally everything on their menu!

Shocking service - Edit
Very disappointed to have to share this, as I’ve been a supporter of Baha since the beginning and recommended it to many of my friends who were curious about vegan food.
Read moreHowever, my partner took me for a birthday meal there, knowing we haven’t had any decent food out since pre-COVID. He was charged £20 to secure the booking.
The food arrived, although it was nice, the food was saturated in oil. I had the mushroom burger but it should have been listed as a burger with a side of cooking oil.
When the bill arrived the £20 to secure the booking wasn’t deducted from the bill. We paid £65 for some at best ‘average’ street food to be sat outside SHARING a table with a couple who we didn’t know... we haven’t seen our families for over a year due to government guidelines yet Baha seem to think that paying £20 to secure a table is ok to do so with strangers, not in your bubble.
After being spoken down to by the manager of the business, we left after settling the bill. In hindsight, we should have just left without paying at all. Absolute daylight robbery.
I said to the manager that we would have tipped handsomely, as we support small business and have done since the beginning. There was no need to ‘rob’ us of a £20 booking fee.
The whole experience left a bitter taste in my mouth, along with all the deep fried saturated fat.
In short, if you’re happy to be ripped off for some mediocre street food... ENJOY!
(WASNT ABLE TO RATE LESS THAN 2 STARS, DOESNT DESERVE 1 IN MY OPINION)
Pros:
Cons: Robbing people for booking fees, The oil dripping out of my burger, The manager is RUDE

Can’t wait to go back! - Edit
Lunched by myself today on a self care day off work. I had 3 ‘small’ plates for £15! They were very filling, probably should share these instead 🤣 the Mac and cheese was SO nice, very cheesy. The jackfruit ball things were really nice and I don’t usually like jackfruit. The wingz were also very good.

What a circus of an operation being run here 🤡
Read moreUnfortunately we shall never be using Baha or Sombremesa ever again . We have been visiting Baha since their first kitchen collaboration 3 years ago, Have visited them at other restaurants in Birmingham and have always recommended and ‘shouted’ about how great they WERE.
I really try to support small business but usually because they are genuine people who want to have happy customers who get value. Well, unfortunately this isn’t to be found here.
Paid £20 to secure a table ( couple on the same unsocially distanced table had the same) via an app when booking through the website.
So that £20 was to sit in the cold with a random couple to eat. So with food ,we paid £65 for a couple burgers in the cold.
Feels very much like a quick scam to profit from ‘unprecedented times’ which in my opinion is disgusting as a business. Complete disrespect to the customer.
It would be ok if everyone there was in the same boat but we had a table next to us who hadn't booked, they had their own table, distanced properly, another 3 guys were on another table again no booking but again on their own distanced table.
So if you book you pay extra and get put on a table with a random couple who are almost on your lap, you may as well be involved in their conversation its so close.
I did bring this to the attention of what i guess must have the manager, but it does it was fancy dress day.
Its funny that the manager of such a Mickey mouse operation, should coincidentally be wearing a Mickey mouse jumper 😂 ( I’m not even joking, this is real)
Just scandalous , the worst service and set up i have experienced from a restaurant in the world.
The sad part is the food is incredible, but the service doesn’t match.
I wont ever be visiting or recommending anymore.
Great example of how not to run a food chain !
Pros: foods decent
Cons: scam, terrible customer service, deceptive

Amazing vegan food - Edit
BA-HA offers absolutely amazing vegan food! Everything I've tried so far (burgers, fries, cauliflower wings, sweet and savory pancakes, lasagna) was so delicious. The two founders are lovely ladies and super welcoming. I hope they can soon find another place to open up again. I really enjoyed their food while living in Birmingham and really miss it now that I'm back in Germany!

Been here a few times and every time the food is amazing. Had all sorts off the menu. Particular favourites are King Kentucky Burger, Nobo and pancakes. Only issue we’ve noticed is it is not fast service which is fine if you are out for the night but if you are in a hurry it can be a bit frustrating. The staff are always friendly though

We attended in a large group of 19 people and everyone had a great evening. The staff were so accommodating, welcoming and helpful to such a large group! The food was delicious, with the Bish and Chips, the pie and the burger being particularly popular amongst the group. The atmosphere is lovely and the bar has an excellent array of cocktails (although beware that that bar is not all vegan). Will definitely be returning and would 100% recommend to anyone interested!

Massively overrated - Edit
I see countless rave reviews about this place, but they're just not true. Really sorry, it's great to have an all vegan restaurant in the city within a popular bar, and although the food looks amazing, the taste and texture is poor. The king oyster burger is deep fried in batter, which looks good, but managed to be dry and deep fried at the same time. The bish and chips again is so oily, and not nice in taste or texture. The veggie lasagne probably the best dish but was still lacking flavour. The Mac and cheese dish was too heavy. Even the homemade chips were greasy and soggy. Took my family of vegan-spectics here and the food really let the side down. They even charged an extra £1 when I asked for mayo due to the dryness of burger, which was already £15 or so. Service was average. Many much better options in town and have to inject some realism into the avalanche of evangelical reviews. Also, the cauli wings were so heavy with thick, dense batter, and are insanely spicy!

BA-HA
Hi Adey,
Read moreI am extremely disappointed to hear that you have had such a disappointing experience.
I would love to hear from you with constructive feedback.
Looking further into this matter, we would have suggested a dish not fried as you don't enjoy fried food based on your previous reviews on HappyCow.
We have a selection of dishes that would have been more suited for your experience.
As for the dishes you have reviewed :
NOTT WINGS :
This is one of our speciality small plates and has been extremely popular. I'm afraid too many guests love the batter, sorry we can't change the recipe! We can happily smother a bbq sauce on the next time as we know our guests enjoy the heat, we can cater as we freshly prepare every portion to order! Just let us know ?
KING KENTUCKY BURGER :
I am surprised to hear that you found our most popular dish "dry". We include homemade garlic and Sriracha Mayo alongside our homemade cheese sauce (both layers as it's double stacked). If you are on the saucy side, let us know! This can be an indulgent burger, you can add, you cannot take away as we always say!
BISH AND HANDCUT CHIPS:
Ah, the marmite of the vegan world. We use banana blossom and again freshly prepare. We marinate a minimum of 12hours. We find that some guests find it to be "fishy", we certainly do not want to over power! I'm afraid we cannot change the texture due to its nature. We would Best describe it to be very close to artichoke. I'm sorry to hear you did not enjoy this. Its one of the unique popular dishes we offer.
SERVICE :
This is very disappointing as we work very hard to ensure all our guests enjoy the BA-HA experience. Again, I would greatly appreciate more details as to how we can improve as we take this very seriously.
We appreciate your time to review us, please note that it would be fantastic to gain more of a supportive review to improve areas. We are always happy to help and strive for happy guests.
I'm sure you can understand your review has certainly been quite negative towards BA-HA.
Please email me directly with more details about your visit:
bahavegan@outlook.com
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best wishes,
Frankie
