Great, BUT…. - Edit
Great venue, great vibe, great food, but check there isn’t a football match on the day you want to visit.
Read moreWe went specifically for the vegan Sunday roast which wasn’t available because of this.
It was also rammed and we had to sit in the courtyard on a cold January day, though they did have outside heaters for some tables.
We did try and book a table beforehand, and although the pub was initially responsive, we never got confirmation despite repeated attempts to contact them.
And of course, we turned up and there was no table for us.
That said, I would definitely come back, ensuring that that there wasn’t an event on that day!

Fantastic! - Edit
This time work has brought me to Birmingham, UK 🚆
Read moreHaving done my usual research in advance, I had booked at this fully vegan restaurant called BA-HA 🌱 which was highly recommended on a vegan UK group when I sought local advice 💚
I found it very confusing when the Uber dropped me outside a pub called The Rainbow 🚕 only to realise that BA-HA is actually a dark kitchen in this pub! 🍺
I’ve ordered the mini mac & cheese for starter (which wasn’t mini at all!!!) 😅 and the fish and chips for main (made of banana blossom - huge portion as well!!!!!!!) and the staff was really attentive to my dietary requirements, omitting the onions from both dishes ☺️
Please be careful with the drinks if you come here though, because when I asked if the Sauvignon Blanc was vegan they said: “no”, in fact turns out only the Chardonnay (which I don’t like) and the Pinot Grigio that I ended up ordering are vegan 🍾
I do like a drink (or 10!) when I go out 😂 so I always make sure all the drinks I am served are 💯% vegan! 🌱
Please also note that they don’t add service charge, so I felt compelled to leave a tip in cash, as the two servers were fab!

This is exactly the kind of vegan food I always hope to find: hearty, tasty, creative twists, excellent sauces and generous portions…I was very happy! Staff were lovely & the pub had a nice atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Best roast ever! - Edit
Had another 10/10 meal at Ba-Ha yesterday. We both had the Sunday roasts and a side dish of broccoli cheese, finished off with the caramel apple waffle and strawberry delight. Everything on the plate is perfection and so well flavoured and presented. Will definitely be returning for Sunday lunch.

Vegan food inside pub - Edit
Would have gone back again is I was around. The guy who served me was very nice and checked up on me a few times. Food was delicious! Only thing could have been a bigger “fish” or two smaller ones. Fries were seasoned so well and Mac and cheese was perfect side.

issue with table booking, but excellent food - Edit
I called to book a table, the person on the phone said "yeah we'll have space at that time" and didn't take a booking, and then there was no space.

Top quality vegan roast - Edit
Ba-ha is definitely a treat dinner for us. This year, we treated ourselves to the works on Easter Sunday. The Guinness Jackfruit loaf is elite, while my partner had the lentil bake. Great roasties and vegan Yorkshire puddings too. Probably don't need the add on cauliflower and broccoli cheese, as portions are huge, but was still delicious

Fully vegan food pub with a large selection of corporate brewery drinks. Vegan menu looked great and wee enjoyed this bish and chips (banana flower fish). Plenty seating and there's a kind of outdoor area.

Vegan fish and chips - Edit
Ba Ha is an entirely vegan restaurant, I tried their ‘Bish & Chips’, made with banana blossom this was delicious, I was slightly disappointed it didn’t come with proper chippy chips but the bowl of curry sauce definitely made up for it. Would love to go back to try more, especially as the desert menu looked unreal!

Banging roast! - Edit
Really enjoyed the Sunday roast here! Would recommend the king of roasts which is made from oyster mushrooms. The first time I tried here, it happened to be a football match day and it was super busy and rowdy with footy fans & it took a long time for food. But I’m so glad I went back again to give this place another go!

I've always liked The Rainbow pub in Birmingham so it was nice to find out they now did good vegan food upon a return visit to this area.
Read moreThe chicken wings (made from deep fried mushrooms) really were great, probably the best "chicken" wings I've had. They were nobbly and crispy and juicy and had an amazing texture, really would recommend.
The macaroni was really nice, very nice cheese sauce, really good flavour.
Sadly the chips were not so great, they were dressed nicely, the pickled onion slices and curry sauce were very nice but sadly it felt as if the chips had been sat around for most of a day and refried.
Pros: Amazing chicken wings, Great pub
Cons: Chips did not seem fresh to us.

Unique and delicious - Edit
I’ve tried the vegan bish and chips, jerk chickn burger, mac and cheese, and garlic cheesy bread. All were delicious but I’m a sucker for a good mac and cheese, and that’s been my favorite so far. The jerk chickn was pretty spicy too which I loved!!! The “fish” is made from banana blossom and has a super unique texture, similar to an artichoke and kinda stringy. I’m looking forward to trying their Sunday roast and everything else on the menu😄the staff are also very kind and helpful!
