Attention vegans! - Edit
Sadly there we're no sign to Switch into vegeterian Option and they speak No english. I only ordered a soup with udon noodles - while the other dishes also listed fish paste, this was the only dish without. Unfortunately, it still contained fish (it smelled and tasted very much like it).

Little gem at Todaiji temple - Edit
This place has quite a few meat free options, just specify vegetarian dashi for the broth. Slightly away from the temple crowds and a really nice place for lunch. A lot of the dessert options are accidentally vegan too, worth trying some of the mochi.

The place has a great location close to Todaiji Temple. I ordered a set lunch and asked for the veggie option. It was really good and I think the price is adequate. However, I wouldn't recommend having dessert there. I ordered dango and it was disappointing.

Great Kitsune Udon - Edit
In Nara Park vegetarian/vegan options are sparse, so I'm happy I foound this place. On the outside it was noted, that they offer a vegetarian broth. They had various options for vegetarians, some dishes can be made vegan. They also offer a great variety of vegan desserts.
